in a street fight this is the most unaffective martial art ive ever seen, you wouldnt be able to have the reaction time to perform these moves absolutely ridiculous. BJJ/BOXING/WRESTLING/KARATE/JUDO now those are what you call affective martial arts
I have the IKKA books and I believe it says the heel palm is to the chin....Other things this video leaves out are timing, riding the recoil off the step back, and the fact you are riding your opponents reaction in both the kick and heel palm to make a collision and generate more power. (kick as he is still coming into to you and heel palm as the guy reacts downward from the kick).
Gotta agree with "hands down" = no real protection and no hip into strikes = no real power. Palm strike to forehead? No real "damage" there to an "attacker".
This is the counter to Taekwondo, well done, still waiting for ppl to learn the discipline to not turn their face away/back away from kicks in all those 'taekwondo vs noobs'
im currently watching videos and reading up on kempo karate and i find it very facinating. i take a different style but there are some moves that youve done that are very similar to my own and your demo's have given me new ideas on how to go about them. for that i just wanted to thank you.
Let's go over everything Joe did wrong, could take some time, but I will be brief. His chin is up, his hands are down, hips are not used in the hand strike or kick and his fingers are extended outward at the end.
To @ritzybounder. In fact there exist living 10. Dans. For example. O sensei, the founder of aikido promoted one of his students to 10. Dan. In kenpo there are many 10.degree black belts. In my opinion to many. The best example for a not very impressive "grandmaster" you can see in this clip.
@ritzybitzybounder as far as i am aware, the only way to get 10th dan is to be awarded post mortem if i'm not mistaken. I don't think there's any legitimate 10th dans anywhere in the world.
A palm strike to the forehead can kill someone, but in most cases it will just stun them or knock them out. That is why you need to learn how to control the power in your strikes. Even Ed Parker spoke of this.
For the record blocking a kick like that is a good way to get your fingers broke. Granted he's moving off the line of attack as he is passing but, still always the what if especially with something like shin on fingers/
Why does Mr. Palanzo lean his head forward at stare at the attacker's kick instead of bringing his head back over his rear leg and keeping his attention on the whole of his opponents body? Why is there no snap in Mr. Palanzo's kick? Why does Mr. Palanzo rock backwards off his own heel palm? Why doesn't he close the gap?
What about the Nazi salute technique? If you do that, it will thrust straight up to the throat which will render the attacker useless. Joe you should add that to your repertoire but I hold the copyright to the name Nazi Salute technique because I came up with it. What do you think??
It matters to the main keys to every martial art. Right or wrong, you have to see and feel what works and doesnt work. I'd would go off at this video about alot of things but i have learnt into the different ways of defence that them selfs (in different styles) which i love, dont have to agree with others but just take what you learn from it and see what it is and appreciate it. thats why it falls under art
I don't think you guy's get it! It's an ABC system that allows you to follow through if the first move does not stop the attack. All the moves are not really needed but are just there in case the first one does not work and also part of the system. Like my old kenpo teacher (John Woods) from Baltimore said "How much strenght does it take to poke a man in the eye". And I asked "So why are there my moves?" and he said "Because kenpo is my art and it is a beautiful art".
It's a demonstration, you imbecile. It's supposed to be slow so that people can see the movements. A master of any style would be able to perform just about any move and put you on the ground before your reflexes could even kick in.
This is the simplest technique in the orange belt.
It is also a very good one, the problem here is the dummy, the guy don't react the way he should.
In the beginning, in full speed, if you give a front kick in the groin of someone, he is not standing straight up, he's gonna bend forward, that's when his face meets the upward heel palm.
I am not trying to be a jerk or anything but I really want to know is kenpo taught all in kata or do they actually give you individual techniques? Just curious because I really want to take kenpo, and all I ever see is the forms never freestyle. Because well I don't like Shotokan at all and I don't want to take it. I want to learn something that is a little more free instead of fighting in a line.
Yeah its taught in kata but there is alot of interpretation on the moves sometimes a hole form wont be nesacary and some schools incorpoate freestyle or mma Also look up jeff speakmans Kenpo 5.0
yea, its taught with individual techniques at each level, with the yellow belt there are 10 techniques and the rest have 24 with each belt but the tests were broken into 2 sets of 12 so you wouldn't have to learn all 24 for the test. you would have 2 separate tests consisting of 12 techniques.
my spanish teacher Ricardo Gonzalez Cantero makes us do a pyramidal block, not only a left descendent, and makes us apply the economy of movements. This free online lessons are quite "unevoluted". :D
