  • you like gold check out my youtube series Gold rush California...

  • f ye

  • Be careful of trespassing on a registered claim in Cache Creek. 640 acres just above the Granite store surrounding the granite cemetery. Except for 10 acres owned by the Shanna claim, it's all claimed by Turquoise Connection. Has been for decades, since it became BLM land. They also have claim to both sides of the highway and Arkansas river from Granite to Twin Lakes. People need to do their research. You can be jailed for claim jumping...

  • @neilpete2 who said anything about claim jumping?

  • I live down in Pueblo West and was wondering if there are any places to pan and sluice box along the Ark. Never done any panning but i have alot of time and patience. Any suggestions?

  • @pself98 if u are down there a close place would prob be point bar headed towards salida.it has alot of claims in and around there tho.look up the colorado prospecting club.they have a nice claim there but u will need atleast a truck to get back there to it.gpaa has claims there too.

  • nice going, reminds me of the good old days. Placer is somewhat rare here in southern Co. Hard to find a quality paystreak anymore anyway. Takes a nose for finding it,gosh darn it.

  • @MrBoondocker72 i am looking for someone to go with me on some backcountry hikes tho.i have a few places i want to ck out.besides that i was thinking of joining the gpaa this year just so i can camp out for a longer amount of time on thier claims, than what a reg blm camp spot allows.that would allow me to be alil closer to the mountains atleast.

  • @vincentvangro hey i live in colorado and im 13 i love looking for gold what area are you located at i have some good spots on the arkansas river with really good color maybe we could do some prospectin.

  • @flamingrecon42 im in bv,i had a few really good places on the ark.worked em for years then 1 day i went and found that someone claimed them..u have to watch out as people are sneaky and like to watch others do the hard work then mess it up for everyone else.i know i should have claimed the spot but i always liked the idea of letting everyone have fun not just me.and 1 of the really good spots i found was by way of an old man that was working it and i was 13 at the time.he showed me how to pan.

  • @vincentvangro i live in howard just down hwy 50 from salida our friend has a claim he lets us work all the time good pay layer there too maybe we could work sometime maybe clear creek or cache creek

  • @MrBoondocker72 i know of quite a few really good spots, but from what i understand dredges are not allowed up here anymore other than spots that have been picked by the blm or if u have a claim to goto.as far as the gpaa claims go,yes there is gold as i have said b4.but i have found alot more gold at the places i find than i ever have on a gpaa claim.i have found gold on most claims i have been on.and i went to alot of gpaa claims over the years from co to az,ca,or,wa,mt,nm and so on.

  • @MrBoondocker72 yea i was a member of the gpaa at 1 time"91 to 94".it's a good club to join for the first timer.but they are more about selling trips to ak then they are having good claims for members to work.lets put it this way,all the gold u see in the vid none of it came from a claim....the claims they do have have been worked to death.not to say they don't contain gold but you will have to work alot harder to get the lil bit it does have.i have been to co7 you might need a 4 wd depends.

  • great job! I live in BV and also prospected with my dad for 30 years. I lost him 5 years ago. I now prospect like you do. away from the arkansas in the quiet (talking to my dad alot) and screening bucket fulls of fun. nice find on those nuggets!

  • how many oz is that?

  • @126mx just under an oz

  • did you find all this in one pan?? wow.....time to move to colorado, lol

  • @sku1123 lmao i wish,no it was about 4 or 5 buckets worth .

  • @vincentvangro but isnt this all gold? isnt gold worth alot?

  • @sku1123 all u see in the pan yes,but i still had to run material to get it lmao.and yes gold is around 1350 an oz.it's alot more to it tho than just what this vid shows.

  • Wow. As gold goes up in price, you must want to do this more and more. even a couple of nuggets! I don't know if I'd have the patience for this.

Maybe it gets to be like a Zen meditation thing as you do it? It must be exciting when you hit something and the adventure of a nice day outside sometimes isn't bad in itself.

forgive a question of sheer ignorance here... do you end up with things other than gold too? I mean doing this do you ever find say topaz or other gemstones?

  • @TheBluesBeggar well it is alot of hard work to say the least.but there is something about the outdoors and unearthing something such as gold that makes it fun and not like work at all.zen could be the word for it lmao,it is very relaxing, fun and nothing gets your spirit up more than find some good gold.it's very gratifying and even if you don't find much the hunt and freedom of it all makes up for it.yes i have found gold, silver, garnet, turquoise, mercury railspikes, and many other things.

  • What type of sluice box ? Did you classify before hand ? I have an Angus MacKirk AU trap and am going to buy some a set of classifying screens ., but I really don't have any experience . My brother lives in Glenwood Springs and we were thinking about heading to the Leadville area .

  • @jasavak the box i use is about 18 years old lmao.it's called a gold king.but alot of the gold u see in the vid i recovered using a diffrent way.but when i run a sluice i don't classify i run small amounts and as i pour it i pull out the bigger 1/2inch or better rocks with my hand.i say it would be a mistake to classify when running a sluice as you will be double working yourself for no reason.i don't have enough room on here to tell you everything.send me a pm if ya want details.

  • What mesh size is the fine gold ?

  • @jasavak it goes from around 14 mesh up to 2400+ mesh.very very fine stuff up here.

  • Vincent,

    Copy that....if you're on the Arkansas River.....getting 1/4 TOZ in half a day...wow.

Some day I'll get more than a 1/4 gram sluicing.

    Randy "C-17A'

  • @C0017A no this spot is'nt on the ark that was another spot that was pretty good in it's own right.but when i found that someone claimed that spot i went looking for something better.thats when i found this spot.

  • Vincent,

Where in Colorado do you go? I normally prospect Cache Creek & close to Buena Vista. That's great gold...

    Randy C-17A

  • @C0017A iv'e been all over but that gold came from a "secret" area.lmao i have to be careful as i let someone see me working another spot on the ark and next season i came out and it had a claim on it.but this place is a really nice spot with a gold magic i can pull about 1/4 oz in a half a day to a day depending on how much i want to work.it was alot easier working with my dad but now it's just me :(

  • @hunter69denys yup i know that as well those drops were given to me so no need to let them go to waste :)
