Upgrading 60GB PS3 to 160GB

dude just clean it i cleaned mine and it works like new it sounds silent as f*** and i even fused it with xbox 360 software so i don't have to have an xbox 360 to play games i can easily play on my ps3

same happened to me you know i think it's smarter to do? don't send it to sony, buy a new ps3, put your 60gb hard drive into ur new ps3 slim, back your info up with an ipod, take 60gb hard drive, put the new hard drive back on and restore with your ipod, and SHAZAM! you didn't pay shit, just got your data restored into you new ps3 slim, i'll try it as soon as i buy a new ps3 slim and let ya know

I just put in a 500 GB Hitachi 5K50 and restored my back-up on an external driver (i. e. I-omega) The SATA 2.5 in works great. I think it's also awesome how the first gen PS3 is also region free, plays all dvds and blu-rays. Now I'm probsbly gonna spend more time on it than my VGN Viao... Thanks for the tip.

Eh, there is no HD over 500Gb that can fit in the PS3....

in order to run a bigger hard drive on the ps3. on what you have to do is buy a usb drive and make sure it has the sata port on the back of it. then you buy a sata cable connect it on the back of the usb drive and the other end of the cable to the ps3. finally turn on the ps3 and you's be prompted to format the hard drive once formatted you will now have unlimited free space. the end.

just goto a best buy, and get a 250GB HDD for $99.99 CA, and they will back up and install your HDD for $20 or do it your self lol.. And it has to be a 2.5inch lap top hard drive c-gate..

Nah1 bro you need a memory stick over 4GB and if you have game data utility's, game save, pics, movies ECT you will need over 10GB the ps3's XMB alone is 2GB lol, just buy a 1000GB external HDD for $100..

actually there were 20, 40, 60, 80[backwards compatible n everything 60 gig had], 80[new 40 gig style just with 80gig hdd] and 160gb types of ps3 i got the first 80 gig model wich IMO was the best bundle

You can transfer your PS3 HDD save files to another HDD. But you need a special device which might be a little hard to find (not a popular item). My advice, do some research on YouTube for changing/upgrading PS3 HDD, I'm pretty sure somewhere in there you'll find a link menacing that 'device', in either the video or video description... Or at least try searching the web if that didn't help ^_^

yes you can just get a normal memory device like a usb drive, an hdd or a memory stick/CF/SD, then go to games/saved data/your game data/TRIANGLE[options]/copy/ch­oose you device ^_^

Any place that sells 2.5" SATA HDDs (the 2.5" size is very important as it's the only one that'll fit in a PS3). You cannot use any other HDDs in the PS3 as it will support no other.
