If they fall unconscious you try the Heimlich manoeuvre by pushing down and up in the same region, just above the belly button, as with CPR, with the person lying on the ground.

If the person falls on conscious I don't think it would be a good idea to start CPR right away....When you give them breathes it won't get passed whatever it stuck in the patients throat!! I geuss you'd assist the patient to the floor and try to get whatever is in the throat out somehow....

@Xx6Gentlemen6xX u do not give breaths when the patient is unconscious. you open their mouth and see if you can see the food object if you do not see it then you go into compressions repeatedly checking the area way for the obstructive object. when you see the object you may stick your finger in the persons mouth and scoop it out. but you never give breaths to someone whos airway is logged

@mohawkgwai well you are watching a video on the heimlich...but if you were to be alone you should find a ledge that you could perform abdominal thrusts, like a back of a chair or an edge of a table. but you will probably be thrusting yourself on it a lot so don't chose something really sharp, because your likely not to get a good thurst on your first try and you dont want to bruise yourself.

Look into the skill of Self-Performed Heimlich Maneuver thats useful if your alone, just chuck yourself into a couch or grab a metal bar and dig into your stomach that should work n save your life. Also keep in mind people chew your food!! Put into your mouth and chew!!!! Chew throughly and make it small enough to swallow.
