  • Still one of my favorite videos!

  • @utoobasaurus Funny thing is - U made me re-evaluate my thoughts after I met U! Now, I have a little more hope for us - thanks mate!

  • Grammar Logic Rhetoric, when the human conscious begins to use these tools in that strict order, the world will morph into a better place for all living things dependent upon it.

These three words, Grammar, Logic and Rhetoric, are known as the "Trivium". A google search will explain what the "Trivium" is. Beyond that? I guess we are stuck with civilisation as depicted here.

Thanks for this graphic depiction entropious88 it made me wince a little but well worth watching.

  • On the upside, civilization has managed to produce that fantastic blues cover of 21st Century Schizoid Man

  • @icebot1

    YOU NAILED IT!

  • @entropious88 It's a great cover! Who is the artist? Liiiiink?

  • song?

  • defeat the true ENeMY -->> IN ME.

    Know DIE SELF

When the illusion of the SELF DIEs - one shall KNOW

Maya (Buddhism,Hinduism) = Illusion of Self (Look on Wikipedia)

Same Maya as in 2012 Mayan Calendar

    Clues everywhere about "human nature"

    self-image (Pride), self-conscious, self-serving, self-destruction, learn TO BE...

  • Hey man, the music's awesome, just can't find this version! what is it name?

  • anyone else was using the video just for background music when you heard beeping that sounded uncomfortably familiar the the ones in star trek and you're like "OMG! STAR TREK!"

  • thumbs up if all you were looking for is a civilization game video, but you got more than you bargained for.

  • 11 people drive a hummer.

  • Although I do agree people need to wake up and that we should do all we can to make things "better". This is all nature. Even war and slaughtering of animals. You can pretend its not and you can pretend there is some evil plan being played out but the truth is it is just nature. People are part of nature too. Do you really think people wake up and put their lucifer cap on and say, "Today Im going to do something evil!"? Probably not. If you do you are giving them power over you anyways.

  • @Rockyzach88

    Excellent comment!

This is a depiction of reality - no judgements.

We are what we are - having evolved (?) as all the other creatures.

With our intelligence - can we rise above it?

The manner in which we behave may in the very long run though, enable us to leave a doomed Earth, wreaking a very long and perhaps required train of destruction to justify our end.

Viruses behave in the same manner and no one accuses them of evil!!

    Thanks

  • @Rockyzach88 i 100% agree with you HIGH FIVE!

  • @Rockyzach88 There is pretty much truth in your comment but there is also non-truth. Wars? They are createdeb cause of lust for greed and power of nations, that is within men of those nations... There is nature but that is not nature! It is not nature to do so much bad things with no little piece of consciousness telling you -DON'T DO IT! It is not nature to light up an entire forest or put an innocent cat on fire just because you are a human, and you feel like it. No sir, it is not.

  • @Rockyzach88 Wut is it?

  • @Rockyzach88 Is Dioxin part of nature? Benzene? Methylisocyanate? Depleted uranium?

  • @Revbone450 IDK, i mean if they are not nature wut are they?

  • @Rockyzach88 Synthetic man made compounds that wouldn't exist without fossil fuel energy and human effort.

  • @Revbone450 Man is nature. Do you not agree? I am not trying to doubt your opinion i am just trying to understand it so keep explaining plz.

  • @Rockyzach88 Ran Prieur said it best,

"If you want a tight definition, natural means in symbiosis with nature, and nature means the totality of symbiotic life on Earth, and symbiotic means related in ways that are mutually beneficial and beneficial to the whole, where wider benefit takes precedence. Defining "beneficial" pushes the limits of our impoverished language, but I'm going to say generating autonomous and diverse aliveness. And if you don't know what aliveness means, look harder."

  • @Rockyzach88 I agree animals slaughter animals, and we're apart of nature. The biggest thing for me though is the more twisted things humans do that don't seem that 'in nature'. Say torturing and the like. There is a sense of evil in humans compared to animals for whatever reason.

  • @vemanos Well I believe humans have the capability of evolving and changing the ways of nature.

  • @Rockyzach88 So do I :) It's only a matter of time and we're evolving all the time.

  • -

    @vemanos

and by living in cities and keeping the momentum building, we are torturing nature. This is something that is true whether anyone wants to acknowledge it or not. if you don't see how our little way of life is causing harm to nature then you are not looking very far.

  • Aw, I expected a video of the game Civilization.

  • You Forgot Obama...

  • @oblivionfan345Tony

I had created this vid before Obama.

  • @entropious88 Oh... Ok It was 2008 so I had figured...

  • bad things happen but humanity needs to keep moving forward and some of this is needed to find cures for diseases or to stop madmen like hitler nd japan during ww2

  • @69thedominator69

Do you think Hitler would have had the platform to do what he did without using technical civilization as a platform? The Jews were transported to Auschwitz in trains, gassed using chemically synthesized Zyklon B, burned in factory-made ovens and the entire thing was hidden from the German people by means of propaganda techniques.

As for diseases, the chief health problems in industrialized nations are obesity, heart disease, cancer, asthma etc. none of which would be...

  • @WSWarthog actually hitlers platform was to get revenge for the biasedness of the treaty that ended WW1, you think he would have not been able to kill them he would have beaten them to death, heart disease has always been around, obesity is usually the persons own fault but a lack of food i could see it not being as bad BUT humans always want to move forward and discover and best other nations in terms of everything and war is needed to gain valubale land and resources and besides life wasnt

  • @69thedominator69

You misunderstand my meaning of the word "platform". I'm not talking about his motivations or how he sold himself; what I mean is that technical civilization provides dictators with the means that they need to opress people on an unprecedented scale which they would not otherwise have.

And I encourage you to pick up a anthropological text on primitive societies and learn for yourself just how diseased or unsatisfying primitive life is NOT.

  • @69thedominator69

You could even just watch a documentary on the life of primitive peoples. It is true that their way of life leaves little room for slackness, but it is far from excruciating. They have a far greater degree of real freedom (as opposed to our imagined freedom) in how they live their lives, and their entire lives by virtue of it's natural character serves their emotional and psychological needs far better than civilization could ever hope to.

  • @WSWarthog good back then

  • @WSWarthog -- Have fun with Rousseau and your "noble savages"! Say hi to the Kukukukus and Danis for me--but don't get carried away and lose your head over them!

And you're right about the Jews...without technology, they'd have all starved to death, like the American Indians when the New England whites came in. Remember that they found starvation during the winter a "normal" thing. That would make some great slides for this video--but they didn't have the technology to film it.

  • @Gondring

When did I mention Jews? And where do you get information that starving in the winter was "normal"? What text are you referring to?

And for what it's worth I don't read Rousseau nor do I care about him or his work.

  • @69thedominator69

    ...a problem for primitve societies.

  • dude there are 66 barbarians here...

  • its good to know there are people that realize,

  • ENTROPIOUS GET OFF YOUR COMPUTER BURN YOU HOUSE AND LIVE ON YOUR OWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE JUNGLE! civilization ftw!

  • @Mysonjoeyvideo

    THAT"S MY PLAN!!!!

  • @Mysonjoeyvideo

Oh how a man can dream....

But to be fair; if you're against civilization and value nature the LAST thing you want to do is strip the remaining wilderness of its vitality. Better to buy a farm or something and terraform part of it into woodlands....

  • wow i bet there r more criminals than cellphones

  • @ccccanada

I love that ".....SLAMMING OPEN THE TRUTH - easy to tell it's the truth... it hurts."

I am disgusted that I could find so much material to use - there are so many examples of how immoral we can be!

  • Incredible how horrible people are.

  • SAVE PLANET EARTH

Kill all human... sad i know but its truly the only way...

  • @enCODed3 starting with you first?

  • @enCODed3 ....What the hell...

  • 0:22 aw shittt

  • I have a fascination with these images! It's amazing how we only need to see a split second of an image and the mind can make so much out of it. Excellent track! Excellent images! More people need to see this video and think about what we are doing to one another and wake up! Big thumbs up!

  • Amazing images i've never seen before. I'm compelled to research what's behind them. I'm glad you pulled over an let me go along for the ride! Great video! 5*****'s!

  • @utoobasaurus I'm certainly not proud of exposing humanity's gross misgivings. Perhaps it make wake up more individuals to help steer a more responsible coarse in the future.

Thanks for hooking up and your continued support!

  • It's a wonderful fucking planet.

  • Yes! It is!

  • Can anyone tell me whats the music in this video ?

  • @Joying2

Johnny G - cover of 21st Century Schizoid Man (King Crimson)

  • Sure! No problem! It's guitar music!

  • I'm not offended, but a little surprised that people are STILL shocked that human nature is violent. Nature crafted us that way, and 5000 years isn't enough to breed that out of us.

  • True.....but my dad did try to beat it out of me! lol....no, not really. But we do need a recrafting if you will.....and soon!

  • @utoobasaurus

    Ramen to that Utoobie!!

  • HILARIOUS!

  • Ya....especially the part where everyone was murdered and lying dead in the street with there dead children lying next to them....very funny.....to you anyway.

  • @utoobasaurus

Thanks for that - some people just don't seem to get it!

  • Great Video! Who was the women who appeared 3 or 4 times???

  • Thanks. Just my attempt to help people understand their impact on the planet, the flora/fauna and ourselves.

I do not know who the woman is - a very unfortunate representative of the abuse women suffer everyday.

    Peace.

  • not saying that some of this isnt wrong or that you arent right in putting up this video but...do you drive a car? live in a house? eat meat?

  • Oh yes I do and I am as much a part of the problem as anyone.

However, when I realize that I am so deep into this poisoned culture that to remove myself from it would alienate me from my family and friends and disallow me from my ability to provide for my family and myself, I succumb and understand that this snowball is out of control, and more than likely have to change its disastrous course. Much to our inevitable pain.

  • Great job dude, I was looking for videos of the game "Civilization" and found something ten times better.

    5 stars, faved.

  • Hey Thanks a lot!

    Glad you "got it"!

  • Great montage and with very interesting score music - the end was sort of weird i think, but all over a very good video

  • Who did the music? It's wonderful!

  • John G (Gotting) from the very interesting album "Water Into Wine".

  • Once upon a time there lived a species that prided itself on its technological and systemic prowess and superior knowledge and intelligence over all its fellow living creatures.

This was before they became extinct, leaving behind revealing artifacts of its poisonous lifestyle.

  • Good job.

  • waste of 3:02 minutes

  • why?

  • Great video with heartrending images. I hope we can all wake up before it's too late.

  • Thank you - it hurt to display such graphic images, however it is reality and we can't keep burying our head in the sand. We see it but are we doing enough to stop the snowball effect?

Time will tell, and maybe sooner than we are prepared for!

  • which does not mean collapsing civilization yet modifying it. If collapse becomes the only probable fate, it will occur in a socially natural way.

  • Human have a place where they belong. The fact that we are capable of having a self conscience and have a negative connotation surrounding what we are doing is only part of it. Civilization was only part of this rising. The most dominate creature on the food chain would then of course only compete with itself. Civilization is a part of this process and a part of man's evolution in intellectual abilities.

Adaptation would be the only plausible alternative now.

  • If you appreciated the message from this video please watch my other two videos "Paradox" and "No Futures" and please leave your valued comments.

  • You are a weird genius. I like all this.

  • I like that!

    Thanks for the compliment.

It is unfortunate that we have to expose the evil side of civilization in hopes to turn this ship around into a positive direction.

  • Aouch! Good punch! I mean point! The problem is there are too many greedy dumass on the planet and I'm not talking about people yet!

Read my mind. Very good job. Thank you!

  • Thanks for seeing the light!

Why are we blessed with the insight to see the obvious!

    Glad you're out there!

    Thanks for the comments.

  • I'm not sure if it's a blessing or a curse yet. For many I am but a freak because I say what you say and don't believe of what "the authority" says. Anyway we are better stay in the "fools" file. If we were taken too seriously we'll be in trouble

  • Humanity has always had many problems, and we've always managed to survive past those hard times

  • The problems appear to be more substantial as we "progress".

  • Well I know this might sound bad and all but we humans are disgusting creatures. We've fouled this planet and butchered countless lives, but isn't that how nature intended us to be? Nature made us that way; it made some of us greedy and hungry for power and made some of us as pure hearted beings. This is nature and nature will prevail. We are strong, and we WILL find a way through all of these problems. History has shown us that we are very capable of fixing our problems.

  • These qualities you've described are the qualities of civilization. Humans lived without killing the planet and enslaving themselves for hundreds of thousands of years. Only in the last 10% of our existence has a single culture, civilization, come to dominate and consume every culture and biosphere it encounters. Things have only been getting worse within civilization's 10,000 years of existence. We have to do something.

    I'm subscribing.

  • ahw your kinda right... EVERY animal in the world has a place where it belongs but the humans dont.. where the trash of the world... i know for sertanty that if whe were any other spicie with our brain we would set out to exturminate human kind... why cant people just gether there trash?

  • it's survival of the fittest, not the strongest. That's mean using our brains, our foresight. Which we have not done. the Fittest will outlive us. When we die, the Earth will recover. So don't be too sad.

  • how is farming a weak point in civilation

  • Farming is not a weak point in civilization - it was the thrust of civilization!

Farming perpetuates the destruction of ecosystems and the unsustainable increase in population.

Farming, especially industrial, is the root of our irresponsible behaviour and the disrespect of nature.

We do not live on a planet with unlimited resources.

I believe we will eventually be forced to become a much more sustainable culture.

  • k i thought you where hateing on farming my bad

  • It is not that I dont like primitivism or anything, it is just that I don't know how primitivism would be put in practice to 6 billion people.

To advance to Hunter-gatherers again, would kill most of the people o nearth.

  • Ummm.... How else are we supposed to gain food? You showed how meat eating was destroying ecosystems and such, and I agree, but our only other food source is farming.

Also, something that kinda ruined the video for me, was the fact that you added pictures multiple times. It was very noticeable, and it made the video appear as if you did not have enough evidence to prove your point. I agree with most of what you implied, but the repeats made it feel as if you were trying to sell something.

  • Farming perpetually increases the population.

    This is the problem.

More farms are created to meet the needs of the population, which in turns creates a greater need for farms.

It is an exponential growth. It wouldn't be such an issue if we maintained a sustainable population.

The repetitive pictures were actually used for effect, excentuating the violence in the system.

I was selling - the concept that violence runs rampant in our society.

  • It's a problem alright, but what can we do? Time is a one way street. Once progress has been made (whether you think it's good or bad) it can't be unmade, people can't be unborn. The best we can do as far as I can tell is mitigate the problems and try to progress further in an attempt to provide better solutions.

  • how very cynical of you, teehee

  • wow, powerful video - not sure i agree with the sentiments, though. The worst life of the most down-trodden victim of today is still a heap better off than a neanderthal, no matter how much you romanticise hunting wooly mammoth and fireside storytelling.

Besides i think that i'm of the view (i'm only 17, mind) that if we don't progress, then - what's the point? My only regret is that i won't be around to have my rocket ship and laser gun and faster-than-light blackhole warpdrive =[

  • I am not so sure that the billions living in complete desperation, disease, famine, etc. would agree. A nice fireside storytelling session eating wild meat would probably appeal to the many in war torn areas throughout the world.

I do not wish or assume that this doomsday scenario would be the only one and had created the video more as a wake-up call.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting - it is appreciated.

  • what i mean to say is we forget the terror that comes with ignorance, the early early death (even the lowest life expectancy today is just under 40 - the oldest neanderthals just lived past 30) and all those wild animals and diseases which we have eradicated

nonetheless, i think we both agree we gotta look after what is the only habitable planet we know of ^^

i will look out for your video

  • Hunter-gatherers are known for its very healthy diet and life expectancy. In the Andaman Islands, the gatherer-hunters, live to 60-65 years, those years counting that their situation has deteriorated in the past decades. It is also known that Bushmen, and other primitive peoples live round there. It is also known that most of them work almost 6 hours a week,80% vegetables and only 20% meat, except Inuit, for obvious reasons.

  • I am currently working on a video that represents the many futures (including the futuristic space-age type) that we collectively envision - stay tuned!

There are many futures to choose from.

Can we direct the future towards a society that could sustain us, other life forms and the planet for eons to come without destroying it?

    That is the question.

  • 0:42

    Thats Battlefield Vietnam isn't it?

  • thanks for the wake call entropious88.

i can't for the living examples to begin emerging.

  • I see them all the time.

  • Mmm... red meat.

Nothing like rape and pwn to whet the ol' appetite!

  • Whose version is this? Excellent choice by the way, King Crimson rocks.

  • Thanks,

I believe that it is by Johnny G, but I am checking my source to confirm it.

  • oh and Derrick Jensen is just the world's most famous pseudo intellectual, his bachelors degree is in Mineral Engineering Physics and his masters in writing, He's hardly an expert in anthropology having only the bits and pieces he wants to have, not the whole picture.

  • Please do assume that I aspire to all of the anarcho primitivist culture. I read the Endgame books and found them enlightening in many of the issues we have at stake in our present "civilized" state. I do not agree with all that has been hyped. I posted this video to open other's eyes to the many problems that "civilization" creates. I certainly will not bury my head in the sand to avoid all of the destruction around the world, in the name of progress.

    Thanks for your comments.

  • just curious, what are the qualifications needed to judge others by the degree they do or don't have?

  • it is not what they do or don't have - it's how important material wealth is to one's life.

  • was hoping for a reply from gates8890...

    entropious88 wrote:

"it is not what they do or don't have - it's how important material wealth is to one's life. " i take this to mean that if a writer's intention is to live off of the wealth accumulated from published works then this would be the measure of their own worth?

  • That may be one interpretation.

If I am coexisting in a community of sharers and contributors, I would expect to live off of my talents, if they are desired and required. However, in a more intense survival situation, writing may not amount to much of a bartering commodity.

  • This is my problem with you anarcho primivitists, you only show one side of the story. You could look at those pictures and draw the conclusion that it's caused by civilization, but I think that is profoundly one sided. Indigenous people hunted and killed animals for food and skins. They fought amongst themselves (war is not an invention of western civilization) Technology has given us freedom from religious ignorance, lifespans longer than 30 years, and can potentially get rid of fossil fuels

  • Yes indigenous people hunted and killed animals, so do other animals, that's the way of things. But that has nothing to do with wide spread extermination of species. And another thing, indigenous people live alot longer than 30 years. The Orang Asli of Malaysia averge life expectancy of 53, for example.

  • But they didn't deforest, build dams, deplete fisheries, poison the land, sea, rivers or air. They didn't create superfund sites, they didn't have oil spills. They didn't have suicide. They didn't have nuclear waste. They didn't have landfills full of non biodegradable waste. They didn't have man made global warming. They didn't have slavery.

do I need to go on?

They lived in a way that could have lasted until our sun went supernova.

  • 1, our sun can't go supernova, it's not nearly big enough 2, odds are high we're probably gonna go through another mass extinction event before the sun runs out of fuel 3, well actually you clearly know nothing about astronomy since you don't know what's wrong with that statement.

Humanity, and all life on earth for that matter, is gonna die out eventually, civilization or no. The only difference is that a space farring civilization has a chance to transend our biological boundries.

  • Oops I ment red giant, my bad. You still aren't addressing the main point of my post.

We are destroying the earth's delicate ecosystems for our own perverted lusts and desires.

(BELIEVE ME, I wish I was wrong)

  • Hey have u seen the sci-fi movie when the earth stood still ( the new one i heard there was a old one not sure ) something like what happend in that movie need to happen here

  • the old one the aliens dont go on a homocidal rampage

  • Freedom from religious ignorance? What world are you living in? Did I miss something?

  • I do not for a second believe we can or are escaping from religious ignorance - it is one of the biggest reasons we are in this mess.

I am pointing out the destructiveness of religion in the video and realize sadly that as long as there are humans we will have some sort of ignorance of nature and reality.

  • ya.......you missed high school!!!!

  • Thats very hurtful coming from a user with the name "utoobasaurus"... Bush tried to get the French to join the Coalition of the willing by citing the Old Testament, claming the "end times are near". Kim Jong Ill is self-proclaimed deity in North Korea, and I don't even want to begin to start about Ahmadinejad and the 12th Imam.. The US can destroy the world many times over,NKorea is doing Nuclear tests and firing long range missiles, and Iran is in hot pursuit. Is that not cause for concern?

  • sorry about the comment.....entropious88 is correct. Humans cannot separate themselves from their own perceptions of reality. Eveything revolves around the center nucleus, us. We are the core (we think) and we must believe that our gods are our centers. Humans beliefs are the centers of themselves. Don't believe in the fear mongoring...that has been going on forever in mankinds history...we are not so special living even in these times, to see the end of the world.

  • Do you think that pre-civilized people were good to each other and all happy and stuff? Read a book called Before the Dawn and get a clue.

"When" should we return to, anyway? The ancient world with its pervasive slavery? What would you replace civilization with?

  • If you noticed there were no humans in the serene conclusion of the video.

Perhaps, it would be better for the rest of the planet and its many non-human inhabitants if we weren't here destroying it?

    Just asking!

  • My friend. Regardless of how some cultures treated one another or how happy they were.. civilized culture is the cause of these images shown here.

It is true that some cultures were crude, it also true that many others were not. The Sng Oi' of Malaysia are a wonderful example of a culture without violence and who are generally happy.

As far as pervasive slavery, that is something found among civilized cultures. Can you name these uncivilized cultures who used slaves?

  • Too much anger.

    Too much greed.

    Too much killing.

    And this is 'civilisation'.?

Well put together, in sight and sound;)

    Apologies for my lateness;/

  • Thanks Ray,

    Your comments ring very true,

What can you and I possibly do???

    John

  • Great video, nicely done

  • Thanks for comments. I will follow up on your recommendation ASAP.

    John

  • Thanks for the comments, I will check Technate out.

  • Stunning video. No argument with its message.

But...follow the money as it travels upwards into the control of a small group of 2% if the world's population.

The children believe the teachers. The masses believe their leaders. The leaders are given their orders by the above-mentioned 2%. We become nearly-helpless puppets caught up in the matrix.

Eliminating the secret rule of the 2% must be done if we ever hope to start getting things right again.

  • Quite Agree!

I think the booty hoarded by the 2 percent you mentioned is very high though - perhaps a fraction of one percent.

Never-the-less, the accumulation of wealth is completely irrelevant, no matter who benefits! The exploitation of nature has got to stop - no one should be reaping any wealth from the destruction of our landbases and ecosystems!

    Thanks for the comments,

    john

  • Hello, John - thanks for the reply. A Google search using "Who owns most of the world wealth" will give over 312,000 hits using the figure of around 2-3% owning over half the world wealth.

Also, I agree totally that no one should be allowed to gain by destroying a planet that belongs to all of us.

So, if one kid in the playground is causing the rest of the kids to "go bad", would it not be expedient to detect and remove the troublemaker, instead of constantly yelling at the rest of the kids?

  • Absolutely! But how????

Thanks for the clarification on the percentage - I was thinking of the very elite, but your research showing half the wealth in the hands of 2-3% makes sense.

    Thanks,

    John

  • Have you watched the "Technate" video series yet? I had started the first video and I thought... nah Im not going to watch this, it looks old and was not that interesting at first but it REALLY gets better, especially in light of "no options" now. Its a seven part video, I favorited one vid but it really does SIMPLIFY how we can pull through this in VERY simple terms and by what means (which includes getting off the dollar).

Just run "Technate" I was impressed actually, no ones talking bout t

  • Great pics

  • Heartfelt empathy to all the pictured tortured creatures utilized in exclaiming the message.

  • Wow. Well done. Great pics, music, message. Youtube needs more people like you :)

  • Thanks Quinn for your support!

We are all in this together.

Please keep up your excellent vids too!

  • Quinn,

Upon the realization that you are a seminary student cum pastor, I wonder if you had actually understood my thoughts.

I believe and portrayed all religions as responsible in their playing a negative role in the progression of civilization.

  • No, I got it. While I practice my religion, I am still aware (and critical of) the role organized religion has played in furthering civilization, oppression, slavery, and all manner of ills.

I can distinguish between God and corrupt religious institutions. That help?

  • Your sermons would be interesting!

Do you direct your congregation to your YouTube spots?

You should as they are educational and inspirational!

  • I feel the same way, I'm a christian who lives rurally and have no really connection to any religious establishment (per se'). When others say "you religious folks" are responsible for something negative, I'm thinking... "Its never my religion thats responsible for anything negative to civilization it would be me. Like if I'm a jerk the Lord didnt make me do it lol

I'm playing but I have NEVER in my 20 years of being a chistian desired to go to "a church" and yet I love my God

  • shocking, in an inspirational way

this is what our civilisation is like

"capable of such beautiful dreams, but horrific knightmares"

    thanks for posting this!

(presses the 5*button tho it doesnt work :P)

  • Well spoken Andrew! Thanks.
