  • Very thoughtful response. Thanks.

  • oil hasn't gone up very significantly. there have been some slight variations in price, but for the most part it has remained a stable commodity. the reason why the price is perceivably going up is because the value of your paper is going down. since the federal reserve's conception in 1913, the dollar has lost approximately 97% of its value. today's dollar is worth less than two cents compared to the dollar of 1912.

  • I would imagine one answer is electric cars. However I'm sure oil companies can politically manipulate countries. I drive 40 miles a day for work, I just drop the speed a little for the journey, I'm sure this makes a difference. I just feel for the people stuck behind me - sorry people!

  • So is $120 a barrel a bad thing, I mean from an environmental point of view aren't you a better person?

  • That is a very positive way of looking at it.

  • I wanted to see that film "Who killed the Electric Car?" It only played one night at the Tower and I wasn't able to make it. I am not much for renting movies, I don't even have an account anywhere. Oh well. Was that the justification? ... that the batteries were super toxic? Good call on the Hummers. I guess they have a Hybrid Hummer coming out, it must get what, like 15 miles to the gallon!

  • There never really is a justification made for the total destruction of the cars. You just see it happen. What is crazy is they take a trip to a car shredder and you see some other car manufactures shredding new electric cars.

  • cigarettes went up in price in the UK ALOT

  • EV1 must have been a good car because everyone bought them. They were selling lot hot cakes but then they decided to cancel them because that is what businesses do. The stop selling things that make them money all the time and they sell us things we don't want.

  • Your logic almost works here. The only problem is they never offered them for sale. They would only allow a lease. Then when California loosened the numbers of no emission cars requied they took them all back and crushed them.

  • If people wanted them then they would have sold them. EV1 sucked at the time so no one would buy them.

You probably believe the reason you are fat is because the store decideds to sell you fatening foods as a part of some kind conspiracy to explain your adult celabacy. Never mind the fact you walk pass the health food isle and go for the beer, chips, pizza, and whatever.

  • I am 6'2" 220. That is not overly fat.

  • but it is a little isn't it?

  • as for me..

I now have the coolest car ever and drive it less than any hooptie i owned in the past. I cant afford "super even on 5 cents off mondays! LOL

now i stay in and deal w/ sammys gas :P

  • Opps I accidentally clicked remove instead of reply on your last comment. You worked for GM. Did they offer the electric car in your area? Were they coming in all the time for repairs? This is something they never talked about in the movie. If they were lemons, than I will have to change my opinion.

  • They were not lemons but there were so many problems with them and the mechanics were not properly trained on them to fix them in timely matter. we have problems with hybrids now.

  • I drive just as much but dont take long trips anymore

  • I definitely think before I go on a long trip now. Before I was taking a 2 hour trip twice a month.

  • I still drive as much as I used to drive.

I just watched the preview for "Who Killed the Electric Car?" and added it to my netflix playlist.

I did not know that they destroyed all of the EV1 cars - That's almost unbelievable.

  • Yeah that movie will blow you away at what GM is like. The thing is GM is not the only one. All the other car companies did the same thing with their electric cars. I guess electric cars are evil and must be destroyed.

  • our country also needs to make more oil refineries, but crazy eco policies won't let them. Did u know Calf. uses the most oil of all 50 states and doesn't have a single oil/gas refinery. Think of all the gas being used to drive the gasoline to Calf Also 20% of California's electricity comes from Arizona. It's nice Calf. trys be eco-friendly, but they're having other states make their power&gas. Not bashing on Calf But r country wants cheaper gas & we wont build the refineries to process the oil

  • I am not sure where you got your information on refineries. We have a giant one just down the road from me in Benicia.

  • Good points. I use 9 gallons of gas a week.I get 34 miles per gallon. I plan all trips to be as efficient as possible. I do not buy anything I do not need,I only buy the basics. I have the extra whammy of heating my home with oil, here in the northeast. I fear what next years fixed price program from my oil company may be. I believe the oil company which develops a alternative energy producing system, will rule the market. All it will take is one company to take the chance.

  • The biggest thing is we have to be really ready for the change. Not just a few of us, but the whole country has to go through a mental change.

  • What's wrong with Hummers? No one is dying for oil. The war isn't about Oil. Anyone who thinks that has a serious short term memory problem. The attack on 9-11 changed forever how we deal with Dictators like Saddam... or it should have. but people like you, who obfuscate the truth with non-sequiturs like comparing the EV1 with a Hummer, and making silly claims about foreign oil, you're missing the point. Why is oil at 120 dollars a barrel? Its because of Democrats and their anti oil policies.

  • The problem with the Hummer is the H1 gets 8MPG on Diesel. That is social irresponsibility at it's best.

  • So is the mammoth amounts of food you eat.

  • I think this comment is a little off topic.

  • it's a car. And socially responsible??? Figures, you're a socialist. Personal Liberty is way more important that some stupid notion of social responsiblity.

  • A car is just a tool. You can use tools in a socially responsible way or not. For example, if I have a drill that uses all the power in the neighborhood and blacks out my neighbors, that would be socially irresponsible.

  • bad example. The car is my tool and I can do with it what I want. If I pay for electricity, and the more I use, the more I pay... To Hell with anyone else... I bought it... so deal with it. If the neighborhood blacks out, that's the lazy power company's fault, not mine. The more regulations and laws that restrict my freedom, the more I will look at this country like the Stalinist regiem it is becoming.... Down with the Socialist Democrats... Down with Socialist Republicans... long live Liberty!

  • bravo
