  • it worked 10 years ago... you dressed in suit, went to the counter, where was the "shy-girl" or the "gay-guy" and there you go. i did it many times, but these days... haha.. you can buy the upgrade

  • when you cheack in, now there is is a button where you can change seats. me and my mom got lucky!!

  • I tried this...The ticket agent laughed.

  • Best advice on getting an upgrade in travel....stick in at school, get good grades, and find a company rich enough to pay your to travel First class!

  • Um.... I'm an airline agent and we don't have the ability to just give away upgrades. This guy LIES.

  • i dont believe that works, is a bull shit. ! If that airline belongs to you, then u may do so..what?? u bought a cheap ticket want to get a front seat? the airline counter dont give a shit even you wear 10,000 dollars suit!

  • i didn't ask once and then guess what? they didn't give me one

  • this guy is always talking about planes

  • To get an upgrade it depends of the type of the airfaire you bought, if you are a platinium or a gold member of the airline's frequent flyer and if the Economy class is overbook. I'm a counter agent and I know that many people ask me for an upgrade but I can't give any. Being a counter is not worst job. The best way to have an upgrade is to buy a Frist class ticket.

  • americans were the only passengers asking for an upgrade. Especially a courtesy upgrade.

  • 20+ years w/ a major airline-this is ridiculous!! He forgot to add that your chances of an upgrade also depend on if the busn/first class is full!!! DUH!! I didn't give out ug's because of how someone was dressed!?!?!?

  • the best upgrade i had for travelling 10 years is when my flight to milan was cancelled and the airline paid THE WHOLE passengers 1 free room EACH in the 5 stars hotel! the next day the airline also gave me and other passengers free first class seat (when i paid economic class seat)

  • Peter Can't Keep A Fuckin Secret

  • @SuperFroggy12345 LOL so true.

  • As a travel consultant I rarely get upgrades. That's okay as I usually pay a fraction of what most people pay for their tickets!

  • I randomly got an upgrade from Bangkok to Sydney..... I didn't ask, I was wearing shorts and a tshirt..... and its was on a friday night

  • well one time with USairways, i asked them if they were offering upgrades for a nominal fee, as i was goign to go from phx to washington DC the lady smiled and said it was a $150 USD, i smiled back and said "oh! i guess i either pick the upgrade or save them for another ticket." she asked me for my confirmation number and when i gave it to her, i got my upgrade for free.. not sure what was the reason.. ime holding a silver status with star alliance or if she was being nice

  • the best way to get an upgrade is to have frequent flyer status, silver is fine, gold really puts you in the front seats sometimes...

  • I took a flight from Seoul to Taipei; followed these advices, and yes, it worked. WELL, I dont know if it worked due to these advices, but the thing is that getting upgraded in front of all the other people that was waiting in line was one of the best things that ever happened to me lol.

  • @lazandrei how are you with the disabled?

  • what a terrible ending...

  • question, who can issue upgrades AFTER security, eg i am making a connection through cleveland from pittsburgh-la, for the cleveland-la leg, would the person in pittsburgh give me the upgrade, or someone in cleveland?

  • @jfsa380

Usually you have to ask a gate agent for directions to their offices in the terminals, agents in those PR offices usually do that. RARELY gate agents issue upgrades, from what I heard.

  • @Bendyournoodle thanks, glad you answered, cause my flight's today

  • @jfsa380

Take my advice with some salt and check with the check-in clerk to verify that. I could be totally off, I recommend this to be safe. Have a safe flight man! ;)

  • @Bendyournoodle thanks, take it easy man

  • us airways always give me free upgrades because im an unaccompanied minor

  • @96ukchrispe ahh, good times, i love that gimmick, my favorite besides priority boarding

  • If there nice to the check in person then they'll realise there asking for an upgrade

  • This video promotes capitalism and thus more poverty. You get what you pay for, don't spur on competition, you're destroying society.

  • It matters most who you are...

  • This video is a CROCK OF SHIT, " if you don't ask, you might actually get that upgrade!"

What, so the asshole supervisors checking you in are all suddenly psychic mind-readers, don't ask, just think.... LOL!!!

Case in point, I've always wanted to get an upgrade, but never asked, so why do they always give the upgrade to the 1st idiot who asks?

This video is BS, from now on, I'll do the reverse and start asking instead, watch me get lucky NOT taking this travel idiot Peter Greenburg's advice!!

  • i have been upgraded on every single long haul flight i've ever flown. First off be a member of their frequent flyer program - even if it's you first flight. Dress smartly, be polite, and when flying alone choose a seat that splits up the row - you seem to be more likely to be moved - and it's usually forward.

  • @lazandrei I totally agree with you as a passenger.

  • Lol one day on the airplane I got an window seat. But the 2 seats next to me were completely empty

  • You: Could...I have an upgrade??

Staff: You wish! If you want a free upgrade, wait until your next reincarnation cheapass.

  • @lazandrei

If you hate your job so much maybe is time for you to get a new one. your comment on about taking people out of a good seat if they're assholes is unacceptable. we all have bad days but no need to do what you did. you know what after i read your comment again and it is very clear to me that you do hate your job.

  • Here is a much better way to get an upgrade. Buy a full price economy ticket and then be prepared to pay the price difference. Even then to get an on departure upgrade, even where you are prepared to pay, you usually need to be a frequent flyer with lots of points. If you are NOT a gold, platinum or emerald frequen flyer they will simply say no, and they will be thinking to themselves "what a loser".

  • Total bullshit. If a flight is overbooked then a passenger may be bumped up to business class, but even then it is usually only given to gold or platinum frequent flyers. These days check in counter staff are often employed by a different company and they may not even work for the airline or have the authority to give upgrades. Also dozens of passengers ask these people for upgrades every day and for the most part they are politely refused.

  • What a nonsense! Upgrading has its own rules, either you buy an upgrade, use your air miles or being upgraded based on your frequent flier status. Airline will not give a complimentary upgrade (unless the flight is overbooked in lower class) just for having a suit, looking good or being nice to check-in agents. It is just stupid American and Indian attitude to beg for better and lying to agents that they were promised upgrade and bla bla bla ...uselessly!

  • @pavel310 Actually I had an ex girlfriend working for Etihad and later Emirates at MXP and she told me that in case of overbooked flights, she had "profiles" for upgrading/delaying pax according to their attire, demeanor, type of fare etc... :)

  • Whole video summed up: Don't be a cunt.

  • @9hello123 hahahaha..fantastic !!

  • I've heard that if you arrive dressed like Ronald McDonald they uprgade you inmediately. But maybe it's just a rumour...

  • @lazandrei

"I've also taken people out of good seats if they're assholes!"

Wow. You must feel powerful, being able to decide who sits where.

Around here, every passenger can choose his own seat at the time of booking. Arriving at the airport, they can verify their seat and change it if they want. Just pick a new seat directly from the seat allocation table that is displayed at the public check-in automat. No need to talk to the check-in staff. Hey, one of them could well be like you.

  • @lazandrei i'm pretty sure that just makes you an asshole.

  • @lazandrei who's the real asshole here....

  • The most dreaded seat on any airplane on any airline would be the one next to Peter Greenberg.

  • @expoboy52 Now that's funny...

  • f this i think if they added a toilet to your seat and some privacy than its considered an UPGRADE.

  • wtf... what if they dont give it to you just cuz???! stupiddd

  • this guy is so full of useless information

  • This is ridiculous because most airlines won't offer free upgrades, not only does it lose the airline money but also if they upgrade 1 person before they know it they have the whole of economy/coach is asking for an upgrade.

  • haha this moron is suggesting that you'd be better off showing up at the airport in a suit just to get an upgrade? It's not a job interview!

  • @Dentfly1 true but think of the kind of people that are in First/Business class, people who have paid good money for the seat and don't want to be next to someone in baggy jeans and shirt.

  • @cheesemaster1000 The whole point of upgrading is to have more comfort, and dressing up to get an upgrade just defeats that purpose. To my experience, as long as something is available, they'll offer it. It's a business and they want to make more money, and what better way than trying to sell their more expensive seats once they're available?

  • @Dentfly1 They don't sell them they give them away, which is why they lose money

  • @Dentfly1 Not sure where you're from, but where I'm from, if something is available it gets offered to the customer.

  • @lazandrei this is better advice than the dude in the video. thx =D

  • fail

  • This is the worst video EVER on YouTube.

  • mavaff

  • He's got a point. Flying domestically in Australia, the only time I've ever got an upgrade was offered out of the blue. I was well dressed (for once), and friendly checking in.

  • This might be true in America but in the UK, you get the seat you pay for.

  • He says O.K. a lot. LOL!

  • Also it costs the Airlines BIG BUCKS, For Biz and First, First is like 600$ (cost).. Food, F Lounge, Amenitys Kit, and such...

  • This is Plane Silly ! !

    UPGRADES, WITHOUT ASKING ?

Goodluck either way, used to be in the Industry, when there was one..

and believe me, Calling Ur sales Rep, U better sell the HELL out of that Particular carrier, and after Sweet talking to the Rep, He or she will Document the record for Upgrade, Luck is also needed once hitting the airport since Intl, flight upgrades are S/A..

  • or you threaten to bomb them then you get a "Armord" ride in the front

  • Stupid advice. I have flown numerous times first class yet never was it just "given" to me. Ask and you shall receive or use frequent flyer miles. Otherwise your in coach...

  • Let me get this right ... i walk up to the ticket counter -- DON'T ask for the upgrade -- just talk about the weather and how nice her hair looks -- and the counter agent is just suppose to say "wow - thanks for just standing there and not asking for an upgrade -- I'm going to give you an upgrade!!!" ... seriously ??? Does this guy get paid to give this advice???

  • So I am suppose to walk up to the counter and just talk to the counter person about "stuff" -- oh yeah -- that is a sure fire technique to getting a bump to Business class.... has this guy ever even been on a plane before -- OMG -- I am a Platinum on USAIRWAYS and a GOLD on United and still have trouble getting upgrades ... guess i have been doing it al wrong -- next time i will simply put my sports jacket on -- walk to the counter - and talk about the weather - that will get my to First easily

  • this should be called "traveling for morons"

  • Wow this tips are really helpful! Thanks!

  • @Noahboah234 Surely you jest!!! Airlines aren't in the business of giving out free upgrades AT ALL despite this content. Quite simply, if you want to travel in a cabin other than Economy, either purchase a Business or First Class ticket or use a legitimate upgrade source such as accumulated miles, earned certificates, or when a kiosk offers a "buy-up". Holding your breath for an upgrade that is supposed to be extracted from your mind simply isn't going to happen, no matter how nice you are.

  • Greenberg looks as if he hasn't paid for a seat, much less asked for an upgrade, since '87.

  • Thats so true, when flying back to Washington from Munich, I have been upgraded to business class three times already :)

  • Please de-interlace your videos before uploading them to Youtube.

  • It works. I fly out of Dulles here in DC all the time and this really works. The only part he's leaving out is when you whip out your american express and pay for the upgrade. LMAO.

  • I got an upgrade, AND a blowjob.

  • @djmocok whats your secret man lol

  • Looking sexy to opposite sex also helps.

  • Wow so If I don't ask I just might get?

Then why the fuck did you make this video for us all to watch.

  • If they don't give you the upgrade you deserve for just being nice take a shit on the beverage cart.

  • "if you dont ask you might just get it"

is that guy talking about his sex life ??

  • yeah, i'm gonna reschedule my flight to the middle of the day in the middle of the week and wear a suit on the off chance that the person at the desk will give me an upgrade.

  • One time, the gate agent just upgraded me because she liked me.

  • YES IT DOES WORK!

  • whats and upgrade

  • This was just useless. Give em a snickers, then don't ask. ( X

  • How you dress....how you look... ah never mind.

  • in soviet russia, airplane seats upgrade YOU!

not to mention that getting the upgrade probably requires changing your nationality. you know how racist people are these days... -sigh-

  • do you have to pay for upgrades?

  • a great man once said

ITS NICE TO BE IMPORTANT BUT ITS MORE IMPORTANT TO BE NICE

  • I find it doesn't make much difference what seat I ask for when I book a flight, as they often change it before I get on the plane, so I don't express any preference now. I couple of times I've been given a card saying that some passengers may have to be moved to a later flight, and asking for volunteers, but I've always got on the flight, just given a new boarding pass at the gate. I was once offered an upgrade, but declined, and they managed to find me a seat in the correct class.

  • funny they are using LH in this show as that is the airline that most unlikely upgrades you (and almost never into first)

my experience: If you want an Upgrade fly BA.

  • The only upgrade to first class I ever got was because Mexicana overbooked the flight (Sao Paulo Mexico City) and I kept stating that I already had a window seat in economy and they should respect my choice. In conclusion, I didn't ask for the upgrade, but I did a scandal because they had already given my window seat to someone else.

  • back in 97 I flew JFK to SVO and I was called over the PA at the gate. They were giving me an upgrade to First Class. I had no idea why or what sparked it, but did I complain? NO!

I think that was my one free upgrade per lifetime, because it hasn't happened since.

  • The only catch was that my luggage was on its way to georgia (i had checked it), but it didn't matter. Theres always a walmart!

  • I flew from cali back to georgia on delta and had 2 middle seats on both flights. The way i got an upgrade was from the gate attendants asking people to be bumped to later flights. I told them i'd be happy to be bumped if they upgraded me to first class. They ended up bumping me, put me up in a really posh hotel for the night (unexpected), gave me meal vouchers and everything, and sending me first class all the way back to georgia! It was quite the experience!

  • @mbnh31782 LOL luckyyyyyyyy

  • Funny, I always thought that airlines do not give upgrades at will. I Always thought that if they do, it is simply because they are overbooked and, instead of not allowing some passenger to fly, they just give him an upgrade (silly me)OK, maybe they know that from before and they can be a little choosy at check-in, but wearing a tux and have a silly smile on your face won't be what will actually get your upgrade. Being polite will just do the job.

  • Thhe best tip is, ohh yea and FASTER, oo yeaa AND EASIER.... Give her a bribe.. lol

  • as a ex check in agent, I can say for sure that the most irritating thing is when someone asks for an upgrade. They NEVER get it!! Airlines only upgrade if they have to as their are all sorts of things to take into account such as ordering late meals for upgrades etc

  • Ok guys - I do the upgrades for a major international airline and I can definitively tell you that airlines ONLY upgrade for 2 reasons - the rarest reason is called "service recovery" and occurs when [to be blunt] we have screwed up in the past ... the most common reason is OVERSALES ... my plan with an oversold flight is to fill economy and only then start upgrading into premium economy ... once that too is filled, I start moving people from prem econ into business - later on, business-1st etc

  • @lhrlyc Hrrrmmm...let me guess...you work for Virgin Atlantic?

  • The best way to get an upgrade is to pay for a ticket in the class you actually want. In the past, I've benifitted from the occasional upgrade, I'm not sure why, because jeans and a t-shirt never hurt me. Point is, they give out upgrades as a taster, so that when you next book a flight, you're more likely to buy the seat in the nicer cabin. That's how Virgin Atlantic Upper Class got me away from PE.

  • this video couldnt be more wrong. I am a check in supervisor and the only way you can get an upgrade is if there is an oversold flight. Not a "less crowded flight". And the upgrades almost always go to frequent flyers or single passenegers.

Also, "one of the worst jobs in the world"??? LOl ye if you call getting heavily discounted flights and free holidays bad then ye i have the worst job in the world. Moron.

  • @shmigle1 LOL

  • @shmigle1 Really? Your grammar and spelling are terrible! You might not have the worse job, but your skills of English is not your best asset. Have a nice airline job checking in passengers!

  • @anduneg :) thanx for that. i most certainly will. i'll also enjoy flying first class while dirty slums of the earth like yourself fly cattle class and beg for free upgrades. you cheap animal. lol. enjoy begging agents for upgrades.

  • lufthansa business class looks worse then aeroflot economy LOL

  • wtf this guy is crazy "if you don't ask you just might get one.

  • @1daney1 seriously - this is right - check in staff are asked ALL the time and pushy americans who ask DON'T GET

  • @lhrlyc right because only Americans are the pushy rude travelers...um no

  • I'm a check in agent...it is not possible to give upgrades unless there is overbooking in a flight...

  • what a crap he is saying???? you will only get an upgrade if the flight is full or if the check in agent fancies you... (at least that's what I do and I work at the airport!)

  • just go naked if ur a hot chick (works best if the check in person is male), that's a sure way to get an upgrade.

    as for wosrt job... lol.

try being a construction designer engineer. they hire the architechs first and get them to design a really beautiful building that also defy the laws of physic. then the engineers have to work out how to build it with very small budget and in record time.(the road work guys who work slowly are not normally engineers)

  • i can see one of the airline managers look on this youtube page and just say "motherfuckers free upgrades....."

  • This guys is a fucking dumb ass.

  • What a dumb video this guy has no idea what he is talking about. If you go for flights that are empty, there is ZERO chance of an upgrade, why would they upgrade you when the company will lose money? Instead, go for busy flights as airlines will upgrade passengers from the oversold economy seats (airlines often oversell seats on flights as they know people don't show up) to the generally emptier business class and then business class passengers into first etc.

  • Yes, the Dress code is important for most International Airliners. However, it also depends on which Airline you are taking as some Airlines upgrade their most valued customers first (aka Premium Cardholders) when Economy Class is full. Most of the time for big-time International Airliners, upgrades mostly follow an operational based procedure.

  • @SirMatt100, yes, it helps in general to look like a Sir or a Lady or a high flying businessperson, or otherwise wealthy, but act like an angel to the helpful staff.

Although the real sirs and ladies in Europe are a little dishevelled looking in their spare time, we do tend to invest in quality. It's not the age of the clothes, it's the quality of the craftsmanship that gives them away, so go for quality suits that fit like a glove on you, guys, and tone down the cleavage, ladies... :)

  • The guy is jewish, what do you expect? hahahahahahaha!!!!

  • 1. Dress well: He's right! Do you really think people pay the absurd high prices for 1st class so they can sit next to some dirtbag? If an attendant puts a smelly, noisy or rude person in 1st and they ruin the atmosphere, the attendnant can get fired.

    2. Be nice at check-in: REAL NICE!! Customer service is a tough, thankless job. If management says "you can hand out 5 upgrades on this flight" you sure aren't going to give them to jerks or parasites. Asking for upgrade = PARASITE.

  • this guy is a scumbug...he wants everything for free hahaha

  • Mr Greenberg, I want to hear your opinion about the service to Economy passengers. The services are cut or only available by cash. I'm sick after an 8 hour flight from Frankfurt to Washington, to get nothing under 7US$ within four hours between IAD-SFO (except nuts and water). I'm also sick to hear that first class passengers (1K, business class) don't have to pay 25$ luggage fees. Economy class passengers are getting less space for their legs. I want to hear your opinion via PM.

  • @CanadianMapleLeaf01 Stop traveling on US airways and start traveling on Jetblue. While Jetblue does not offer a full meal, they do offer unlimited snacks and drinks, as well as not charging you to check a bag, comfortable seats with direct TV, and plenty of legroom. I sound like a marketer for the company, but the fact is, I just had a really great flight from PHX to JFK.

  • @cptnbennett I'm not in the US right now, but I want to try out Southwest and/or JetBlue. I've never stepped a feet on US-Airways' planes, I've been on UAL and a little bit insulted by "more segregation" on First/Business passengers and Economy class passengers. Those CEOs are doing great to destroy their airlines and the image. I will go on Delta or if possible Air Canada/Lufthansa. If I pay full fare at Delta or travel int'l, there is no luggage fee.

  • @CanadianMapleLeaf01 Southwest is kind of basic as well though. I think they offer snacks and drinks on their flights. Their fares are usually cheap and their arrival/departure times are good as well, but honestly, if you come over to the US, you must fly on JetBlue as it really is a one of a kind experience.

  • @cptnbennett On Southwest you can choose where to sit. Snacks are free, but Southwest does only serve the US. On Delta, you are burden to the seat and Delta flies to Europe, Asia, South America and Canada. Delta serves snacks for free in America and if you pay full fare economy, you are exempted from luggage fees. On int'l flights you get free meals. Lufthansa is flying from Germany to everywhere. Meals on all routes. LH is a partner of JetBlue. I want to try JB, but I need AC, LH or DL to come.

  • @CanadianMapleLeaf01 "...stepped a foot..." Sorry, I'm kind of impulsive on grammar. :/

  • @HL2NoLie My bad, I'm not a native English speaker. Usually I take great care about my grammar. I'm practicing!

  • all this is not true!! trust me! I`ve been in the airline industry for 7 years. And you will never get an upgrade bacause the way you dress..it`s all about the operational reason the airline will have at that time...they will not do it just because there are seats open up front!

  • @damianbruder So, if for operational reasons, the flight was offering an upgrade and there were 2 people to choose from, would they pick the guy dressed in a jacket, shirt, and a nice pair of jeans, or the smelly college student wearing shorts and a backpack?

  • @cptnbennett if the student is an elite member of the airline or has paid the most higher fare in couch i wiil upgrade him!

  • @damianbruder In my scenario, he has done neither. They are both on equal playing fields. The only difference is what they are wearing.

  • Im a ticket counter supervisor n for over a yr I was an agent, I do agree with the fact the he says DO NOT COME TO THE COUNTER pls just wait till you are called. I do not agree with what u wear determines if you get upgraded or not, I have many times even maybe 5 times in a week upgrade a person free of charge (if seats are open) just be nice WE DO HAVE ONE OF THE HARDEST JOBS, being nice to a customer service agent will take many places trust me...

  • Dear All,

I have some questions about psychology:

    (1) Why do we enjoy flying?

    (2) Why do we feel relax and more optimistic when we are at the airport/airfield?

    (3) What is the environmental factor(s) that causes us to feel enjoyable when we are at the airport/airfield?

    (4) What do you enjoy most for being at the airport/airfield?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

  • Eh?! The tip is not to ask? What the heck, I have never thought about that! What a genius!

I have a better tip = BUY THE DAMN BUSINESS CLASS TICKET! Then you can fly dressed as you want, even in pajamas!

  • Okay then I think everyone who posted here agrees that you should buy us all a business class seat next time we fly, how's that for arrogance?

And since you clearly missed the point made in this video, it was that making yourself presentable goes a much longer way than simply expressing how much you want a FREE seat upgrade.

  • Go ahead, "dress for success" and then let us know how many times you succeed in getting upgrades...

  • this guy is an idiot!

  • load of rubbish....crap info

  • If you really want to fly in business class you should just buy a business class ticket. Or am I missing something?

  • Precisely BUT there are circumstances that require airlines to fill up every empty seats with a revenue passenger.

  • Yes but then if they move you from economy class to business class they still end up with an empty seat they didn't fill.

  • Haven't you heard that airlines overbook their flights by 10-20% to ensure that all seats are filled????

  • @BukanMelayu Not on Finnair. I avoid that airline like the plague and then some. Their customer service is lousy, and last time I was stuck flying with them, they had the rear overbooked with passengers, while their "business class" had 20 empty seats... the on-flight staff treated him and the rest of us like cattle, and at the same time, the two gentlemen in business class were treated by female stewardesses as if the next service would be oral... Customer service gone bad...

  • @ephemeralprotagonist Hear hear!

  • @ephemeralprotagonist the point of the video?

  • as a man go to the women and use social dynamics ... easy

  • My only upgrade was because I reported late for boarding. Not just late but nearly-missed-the-plane kind of late lol. And they assumed I missed it but I popped up so they bumped me up to Business. It was all luck... I had no Frequent Flyers... wasnt in a suit... i tell you trust me its all luck and the correct time

But now I'm here hoping for info on a free upgrade on my next flight which is 14 hours.. yes i know im a greedy person :P

  • unbotton your shirt and show some chest hair. that will give you a head start.

  • I have a question for ya'll: I wanna treat my parents to business or upper class on their return flight home. What do I have to do? I am flying too, but I don't care if I don't get an upgrade.

  • this is crap. I've been flying for years. It's almost impossible to get an upgrade on a flight from Europe, without using miles or paying. My advice is to ask if the flight is oversold in economy, if so then you should ask.

  • need to try that next time O_O

  • lol at the end...."u just might get it"

  • How many times have you actually been upgraded following this advice? Not often I'm assuming.

  • Not great advise. Most of the airlines give all their upgrade seats to their frequent flyers. So if you do not have any status with an airline your chances for an upgrade are zero, unless the first class cabin is empty and the couinter agent is feeling nice. As a long time flier, if you are not part of a FF program your chances are remote.

  • Absolutely. I've been upgraded 5 times within the calendar year and this is solely due to my FF program. And by the way, those upgrade are all long haul (8 to 10 hours)!

  • That is correct.

I have been given free upgrades on long-haul flights 5 times this year myself.

If you want upgrades you have to fly with the same airline/alliance every-time you fly. Don't jump from airline to airline just because you can save 20 dollars or yen or euros. Loyalty pays off in the long run.

  • I got a free upgrade from Economy Class to Business Class 3 times :) I didnt wear a suit, I wore regular student clothing (Casual). I just asked if I could get a bigger leg space (since Im a really tall person). Then she says "Ok, is business class ok for u sir?" :)

  • I never asked for an upgrade before and after many many years of flying, I asked for an upgrade on my last flight (Tokyo-London) and got upgraded to Business Class. Dont ask=Dont get.

  • so true like they say if u dont ask u dont get.

  • you HAVE to ask for seat upgrades. they wont just randomly give that to YOU, why do you deserve it over someone else? the other person that chose to ASK got the upgrade. they cant read your mind. theyh arent going to just suddenly say "hey mr so&so how about a better seat?" NO.... you have to ask, if you dont ask, how are they to know what you want? they deal with customers all day everyday, its thier job, so get out there people and start asking! or you wont get $#!+

  • Yeah don't ask and they will read your mind and give you the upgrade. All airport goons have jedi like mind reading skills its a requirement for the job.

  • @WillahG Know shit he must work for the airlines don't ask bullshit.I say I will give them 50 on top off my ticket with visa that works for me and be nice.

  • @WillahG I did get one of those "Economy Comfort" seats with an extra 6" of legroom for being nice once, but I can't say that's the charm yet... I'll just have to wait until after my next trip, when I can use my air miles... ;)

Or then see if they can "split the difference" between economy and business class seats. Some companies don't want to let their employees travel business or first class, but airlines have plans for discounted upgrades for frequent flyers they don't advertise. Ask around.
