Um, this isn't even a FPS game, so I don't know what all the melodrama is about. It's a third person survival type game from the looks of it. It's still disappointing that they changed the gameplay though, I really liked the RPG-Shooter style the first 2 had.
Parasite Eve as a franchise needs to be revived and done over on the New generation consoles. Its too great a game to have been forgotten the way it was. It could be an awesome game. It could (IMHO) give the Resident Evil franchise a lil run for its money because of its more scientific-ish storyline. A retelling and well cast regraphic part 1 would be in order for Xbox 360/720 and PS3/PS4

@napalmman420 Thank you, I bought the game a month ago, yet I didn't play it because I was busy, trying demo's I haven't decided which game I would like to buy, when I opened the game up, I found alternate costume for lightning,and a insturction manual, and the game and all, when I played the game, it wasn't all that bad, yes the story line is a LITTLE CONFUSING, that's all , the gameplay itself isn't that bad, Fan of PE or not, this game should be considered to be a decent one.

FPS genre generally sucks ass and is intended for brain-dead gamers only. (Gamers with a brain would play Starcraft 2 instead). But anyway, I think Square Enix's real intention is just to use this game as a small, experimental engine for the upcoming epicness on the PSP known as "Final Fantasy Type-0".

@HaleyTheSeer She looked better in the first game honestly. Its like in 2 they couldnt decide on her face. Whereas in the original she was kinda in that "This looks neat but we're still not great at CG people" state, like final fantasy 7, Parasite Eve 2 shifted into Uncanny Valley territory.
I like the shower scene but this game is boring. Just shooot, shoot, and SHOOT. And gain ammo and shoow again... If they make some new parasite eve for normal console they'll ruin the serie PE. Someday Mario and Sonic will be turn out in shooters too. Every game now have guns and infinite ammo.

PE 1 and 2 had way different gameplay mechanics. Saying there the same is wrong because PE 2 adapted a Resident Evil style of gameplay so each game had there own style of playing.

I'm 15 but i'll admit, i have more game knowledge than most, Old RE's, Legacy of Kain, Marios, Sonics, Mega Mans and much more + current day games. @logisysmax20 Parasite Eve is a good series in my opinion. Very reminiscent of Resident Evil style gameplay (the original RE). PS1 graphics but a good story line and quite a bit of extras especially for a game done during that time.
I hate to say it but Bakougannoaishi is right. Every great quality game is being turned into yet another first person shooter virtual simulator or any kind of present shooter. They're boring as fuck. As a matter of fact, good games are anything but first person shooters. A lot of people are downing Bakou' by "assuming" he's simply not good at new age games. That's likely untrue. The fact of the matter is, first person shooters or shooters of any kind are indeed boring as shit. Good luck, kids.

@sacrednic I know right! This actually isn't officially part of the Parasite Eve series :/ Check the title: it only says "The 3rd Birthday", not Parasite Eve. The "3rd" represents the 3rd appearance of Aya Brea in a game. It is not officially part of the Parasite Eve series because they took out the good ol' mechanics that made the game feel like Parasite Eve, along with Parasite Energy. This game was a total let down in the end however ;/

First, this was supposed to be a Parasite Eve game, announced forever ago, but now they just gave us some crap instead. They totally ruined the gameplay ( as I've seen in footage of the game ) so it's not really like classic PE anymore. I have SEVERAL ( maybe over 100 ) replays of PE2, and a few replays of PE1. @Bakougannoaishi I enjoy older games. Right now there is so much garbage among video games of today. Games were so much better back then in my opinion. For games of today, it feels like game play is very limited, and dull. Tomb Raider 1 - 6 were kick ass when Core Design still made them. Silent Hills 1 and 2 were the absolute best, but now the rest of it is garbage. It's like the same with music of today, but I won't even move into that. I wish game makers would still make games like back then..

Hint: her mitochondria (which are all-powerful in-game) keep her looking young and healthy so that appears more attractive to potential mates, ensuring the successful passing on of the beneficial mutations her mitochondria have provided her. Go play the first two games now.

I still liked parasite eve 1 and 2 more. 3rd birthday has been in devlopment a long time and results aren't what i expected. I wanted to a see new gen horror that would blow me away like the ps1 versions did. Instead i get a handheld. Im not pleased with this results. @Senythril First off, I'm kinda scratching my head at your comments there given that 3rd Birthday was always going to be a handheld. When it was first announced as a cellphone game, I was shaking my head, but a handheld spinoff is fine, especially given the level of the graphics involved.

Honestly I loved P.E 1 , 2 was more like a resident evil. This is something new that SE wants to bring back to life. I'm 15 but i'll admit, i have more game knowledge than most, Old RE's, Legacy of Kain, Marios, Sonics, Mega Mans and much more + current day games. This game looks fun though, but not scary as the picture for Parasite Eve II suggest. Is it a good series?

@logisysmax20 Parasite Eve is a good series in my opinion. Very reminiscent of Resident Evil style gameplay (the original RE). PS1 graphics but a good story line and quite a bit of extras especially for a game done during that time.

I hate to say it but Bakougannoaishi is right. Every great quality game is being turned into yet another first person shooter virtual simulator or any kind of present shooter. They're boring as fuck. As a matter of fact, good games are anything but first person shooters. A lot of people are downing Bakou' by "assuming" he's simply not good at new age games. That's likely untrue. The fact of the matter is, first person shooters or shooters of any kind are indeed boring as shit. Good luck, kids.

I also despise, like you do, how every good series (or at least a lot of them) is being turned into a basic shooter, being neutered in another way to make more cash, or, if all else fails, being left to the wayside, forgotten. I see no substance in games lately. If I do, it's few and far inbetween. Bring something with it for crying out loud. I miss expansive worlds/areas. Now it's all camera angles/HD and that's it. @sacrednic I know right! This actually isn't officially part of the Parasite Eve series :/ Check the title: it only says "The 3rd Birthday", not Parasite Eve. The "3rd" represents the 3rd appearance of Aya Brea in a game. It is not officially part of the Parasite Eve series because they took out the good ol' mechanics that made the game feel like Parasite Eve, along with Parasite Energy. This game was a total let down in the end however ;/

@Bakougannoaishi You're right man. I'm sure we ( PE fans ) have been waiting for a good Parasite Eve 3 for a good long amount of time, but in return, we got this crap. First, this was supposed to be a Parasite Eve game, announced forever ago, but now they just gave us some crap instead. They totally ruined the gameplay ( as I've seen in footage of the game ) so it's not really like classic PE anymore. I have SEVERAL ( maybe over 100 ) replays of PE2, and a few replays of PE1. Can't get enough!

For games of today, it feels like game play is very limited, and dull. Tomb Raider 1 - 6 were kick ass when Core Design still made them. Silent Hills 1 and 2 were the absolute best, but now the rest of it is garbage. It's like the same with music of today, but I won't even move into that. I wish game makers would still make games like back then..

this game is hugely disappointing, l don't mind the game-play change but their is no variety to your playing experience and it gets damn boring. The story is non-existent, l love PE1 and PE2, but here absoulty nothing is releated to them, they changed the term mitochondrian mutations for "the twisted" ?? WTF! it's obvious that Square couldn't get the rights so they made a generic game, slapped Aya brea and Dr meada in it to tie in with PE, it's fucking stupid.

Hint: her mitochondria (which are all-powerful in-game) keep her looking young and healthy so that appears more attractive to potential mates, ensuring the successful passing on of the beneficial mutations her mitochondria have provided her. Square Enix has ALWAYS had some of the best graphics in the WORLD.
Remember, The Bouncer? Average gameplay engine but the graphics are SPECTACULAR.
The first Parasite is one of the greatest games I have EVER played. The story was absolutely remarkable. Aya Brea was and still is one of my favorite video game characters.
I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THIS!

I still liked parasite eve 1 and 2 more. 3rd birthday has been in devlopment a long time and results aren't what i expected. I wanted to a see new gen horror that would blow me away like the ps1 versions did. Instead i get a handheld. Im not pleased with this results. However im going to buy it anyway for the simple fact that i want to play it because it's parasite eve.

@Senythril First off, I'm kinda scratching my head at your comments there given that 3rd Birthday was always going to be a handheld. When it was first announced as a cellphone game, I was shaking my head, but a handheld spinoff is fine, especially given the level of the graphics involved.
Second, I have finally played the game (JAP version), and I do actually like a lot of the features involved (levels being able to be replayed, customizing weapons, and so forth). (continued)

certainly they are catering for younger demographic, I guess it`s easy to impress kids with next gen graphics, combine that with fast paced action and it`s a sure sale, yep, but you also get a piece of generic bullshit, too bad that`s the type of thing they take into account when making games nowadays, it`s just like the fast food industry, it`s all about selling by bulk, what ever happened to quality entertainment, as for me, I`m sure some classic gimmick free gaming won`t fail to deliver
