Three of my most favorite musicians are in this band. I began listening because the music was good. Realized that Carter Beauford was hands down about as good as a drummer can be, then that the bassist could freaking play too, then that daves voice soothes my soul. id give anything to sit in a studio with these guys and watch them make this stuff
Now imagine how many times they played this. No matter how much fun it looks like they're having that shit has to be repetitive. LMAO. My favorite song by DMB though :D
One of the greatest examples of great music is the ability to play the same song , when necessary, differently according to the venue, atmosphere and energy exhchanged between the musicians. I've said it before and I'll say it again; the DMB is one of the absolute greatest bands, especially in live performances , that we could or would EVER witness. Pure Musicianship, personified!
I love their sound lately. Coffin's *hot* sax style, Ross adding some needed brass, and Reynolds on electric guitar. It's definitely a big change from "Under the Table and Dreaming" and "Crash".
E tem gente q fala q CINE, RESTART, LUAN SANTANA, JUSTIN BIEBER e Cia. são musicos... VSF! MUSICO É ISSO AK CARALHO! O dia q esses porra fizer metade desse som ak, agente conversa... ;D
The day Carter Beuford hits a beat wrong, the planets will fall out of orbit. His rhythm is the tightest thing in the universe! The other guys aren't bad either ;)
Yes indeed, Tears did flow. I can't lie. Jeff Coffin and Beauford interplay was absolutely phenomenal. This entire version in my opinion has to be the best I've heard them do. (DMB)
the thing about saying this is the best version is that you can change your mind about 5s later when you hear another version... and then another 10 seconds later you change again... and it goes on....
For anyone who loves acts like DMB, Counting Crows,Train, Matchbox 20, Jason Mraz and would like some new 90s style music please visit my band Red Dust Road at reddustroad doht com and you can download our 6 track EP for FREE or just click the username below. Carter and all the others keep getting better and better with time... And their songs do too... Just Tim spoils a little bit the atmosphere... However Is this the best performance of this song 'til now? What do you think? I think it's full of emotion and technically perfect... PS Stefan enchants me with his playing... Just so magic...
@LeoTadde It's hard to say which one is the best performance. I think one can say the best solo. And IMHO, the best solo ever made in this music is the one from Europe CD, also in my videos (just the sax solo). The new version from Live at Wrigley Field (also in my videos) it's a great version too!
@felipeviegas Well, maybe looking at the fact that they always change their songs maybe it is impossible to state which one is the best performance of a song...
@LeoTadde I just don't agree with the hole "Tim spoils the atmosphere"... I think he adds an edge that i always missed in the band... I think he adapts very well to the feeling of the band too. I honestly miss his guitar when the band is playing without him. But its just my opinion...
@edusonek Well, "de gustibus non disputandum est" latins would say, everybody has his own taste in everything... By the way I think Tim should play only some songs... I think that he is perfect in some songs and a bad add in other ones... Just my opinion obviously...
@LeoTadde The version of #41 at the Mile HIgh Music Festival is pretty dang good. Especially the jam parts towards the end. LeRoi was still with them for that, so the sax part is pretty epic.
@LeoTadde It's an incredible performance.. but I think that one of the best versions is one from 1998 at Centrum Centre, featuring Jeff and Bela Fleck
This is why I play music. This is why when life fucks with my head I keep going. I don't kill, steal, I don't do drugs - jeez, I don't even drink. This is my high. This is how I cope. This is why I cope. Thanks guys.
@felipeviegas I agree something about Coffin's playing is to magical not to like. No doubt Roi is missed but I think as far as replacements go there isn't a better one out there.
@RafaHidalg0 Alot of people say that...it seems that this is the consensus only because Jeff actually moves around stage and brings a level of excitement to his playing...But if you said he fits DMB better than ya you would be a bastard lol
@RafaHidalg0 not better, just different. their styles aren't the same. Jeff Coffin might be a better jammer than Roi was, but Roi was the soul of this band. He brought a lot of emotion to the songs.
Jeff Coffin does rock out though! i'm glad the band found someone so they can keep playing and making music.
@RafaHidalg0 You aren't, especially if you're basing that off of this song. Jeff and Roi play(ed) with very different styles. LeRoi was great at this kind of funk stuff, but he really shined on the quiet solos when he was sort of whispering. Jeff, on the other hand, lives for this high energy, fast-paced groovy stuff.
What i will say, Jeff is great, but LeRoi is the only saxophonist to fit with this band. Jeff is perfect for the Mu'tet and Flecktones. No one can replace Roi, nor play with his grace
my Now wife and I first made passionate Love to DMB and now everytime we listen to it together, there's something that happens in our hearts and we just look at each other and smile to no end!!! Thank you DMB, i know LeRoi is up there happy to know that he was part of such a beautiful thing!!
