you can lure Lucas simms into there and kill him for his sheriffs hat and duster, and a Chinese assault rife

@Ilikecookies009 Well, to say that you need to collect the Medicine bobblehead right at the beginning of the game as that's the only time you can get to it, I'd say yes.

lol thats why the things u want to do BEFORE u blow up megaton, get vault armored suit, get strength bobble head, start wasteland survival guide (so moira will become goul and u can continue it after u blow up megaton), and if u want jericho as companion, oh and get info from moiriarty so u can continue main quest

I went for this after disarming the bomb. Lucas Simm's house is then not locked, so you can waltz right in.

there is an easy way go to moira and buy 2 Mentats talk to Lucas and ask him about the bomb then tell him u can disarm it when he says ok u go to the bomb (at this point save the game) then take the 2 packs of mentats and disarm it after that u can easily just go into Lucas's house and get the bobblehead

There is a secret door (for those who take the "Mr Burke" option). Unless you disarm the bomb, you have to pick the lock and because it is right at the start, most people will finish the Mr Burke task before they can pick the lock.

The secret door is on top of the house, in the fusalage of that crashed plane, and it is always unlocked. That is the best way to get the bobble head if you want to do Mr Burkes assignment (unless you have 50 lockpick).

Normally it's unlocked if I avoid talking to Simms as soon as I enter Megaton, or it will be unlocked when I defuse the bomb.

at some random times Lucas, (or his son) leaves the door unlocked and you can go in whithout karma loss or a struggle with climbing

you were supposed to head to moriartys saloon and talk to collin mortiarty. if u blew it up then i would head straight for galaxy news radio, although itll be hard with no map marker. better idea, run over to grayditch and complete the quest THOSE! and talk to dr li in rivet city

in the mission with the bomb. talk to the one guy and then talk to simms, tell him that guy is gonna blow up megaton. follow simms to the bar and he confronts that guy. after the conversation, the guy will kill simms. kill that guy, search simms for his key. u can also pickpocket him

there are alternate ways as well to complete megaton side quest. simply first time when you enter here just talk with mayor and you can start this quest of disarming that bomb.

You don't have to pick the lock, You could wait till about 1400 or so time and it seems to be open for me. You could also use the stealthboy from the hollow rock just south of megaton to pickpocket the key from Lucas.
