That's a really great question. As an atheist, I don't think there is any excuse to put the planet in another being's hands other than people on Earth. Earth is the only planet people have in the solar system that is known to have life and if this planet gets messed up there will be nowhere for people to go.
I know where you are going with the Does your God send the majority of the people on earth to hell. If people don't accept Jesus as their lord and savior then yes they will go to hell. But don't say just because of it he is unjust. Remember it would be God who declares what is just or not. Everything I believe is from his word and not made up from my own thoughts.
BINGO! I don't believe God made us to be sheep. S/He made sheep for that.S/He gave is brains to use,not to surpress. Please friend, remember, yes, they say it is "His word"...the Muslims say the same, the ??? says the same and so on. Put your faith in your God by all means. But remember it was,IN FACT, men who wrote those words. Yet they all claimed God told them to write it.
You have got to look at facts circumstance and history. There were many witnesses to the events that occured in the bible and more original texts and copies than any other ancient writing such as the Odyssey and Illiad. It has more original texts and has more witnesses of such events than the Quran or any other religious book.
That doesn't make it true...ancient peoples were very superstitious and looked for answers to the unknown or unknowable. Creating "gods" helped them do this. Christian theology actually flows organically out of the themes of the ancient Greek pantheon of theology as well. None of it is "real" save for in the minds of the believers....
Christian Theology stems from Judeaism... Judeaism dates back thousands of years before the greek. And I am not into religion. If you look in the text of the bible you find that it says that Jesus hates religion. He wants a relationship not a religion. He wants people to love him and he wants to love others. Religion corrupts. Relationships mend.
The themes and motifs of christianty are in line with all ancient religions. It's all the same. Take an ancient mythologies class for more info. I'm not talking about simple "religion" but the art of believing the untrue and creating fantasy worlds in the mind....There is no reason to believe any of it.
I wouldnt go out and call it untrue. By doing that you have set in your mind that it is untrue and you leave no possibility that there could be another answer other than yours. If you at least admit the possibility of creation then we can have a discussion. I admit the possibility of evololution. Although I believe if you look at science, so much of it points towards Christianity.
I didn't ay it was untrue, I said there was no reason to believe any of it, no evidence in other words. I can make up a story about a flying pink elephant and set it in real time in the real world but that doesn't make it true either.
I am completely agnostic when it comes to the creation of all that we know as the universe, although there is no evidence of a "god" creating the world in 6 "days" so to speak. I simply let the evidence and facts lead me where they will. I don't enter into things with pre-determined agendas. Follow the evidence, not simply your passions.

Scientific evidence points to Christianity. If you dont know what radio halos are look them up. The enormous holes in the fossil record. The way they date things. They date things by how deep fossils are underground. What if they were buried in The Flood. And how can they date something by just where it is? And btw carbon dating is such a load. Its accuracy is good nowhere past 3000 years then it has no accuracy almost whatsoever.
Sorry for the double post below. Science most definitely does not point to a "redeeming savior" such as the Christ of Christianity. To the degree you claim science points toward Christianity, it points toward ANY religion...
It points towards Creationism... Any sort of instaneous Creation. Evolution, due to its enormous amount of random cooperation with itself, contradicts 2 of the binding laws of science. Laws of thermodynamics 1 and 2. 1 Matter cannot be created or destroyed, only converted. 2. Things left to their own tend towards Chaos. why don these matter. 1 Perhaps if there was something outside the limits of science could override this law. 2. It takes a designer to design something complex.
No it doesn't. Nothing of the sort. In your mind it may point toward creationism, but that is just your mind. And laws of science only reflect our knowledge of the universe, not the universe itself. We see solar systems being formed, we see galaxies form from chaos, so we know it happens. It takes a designer to design something complex within humanity. Don't presume to know what it takes to design a universe. You don't. I don't.
You're actually making my point for me. Just bc we don't understand something scientifically doesn't mean a "god" did it. You are making the same mistake the ancients made with their religions, filling in the blanks of what you don't understand with a supernatural power who must have therefore done it.
For eons, we were unaware of the laws of thermodynamics and the other laws of nature. That does not mean they did not exist. There is plenty we have yet to learn about the universe. That doesn't mean we fill in the knowledge gaps with "god did it" like the ancients, just bc we don't understand something. Lack of knowledge is not evidence of creationism.
It is amazing to me that Religious folks, regardless of affiliation, are so "Right" that their way is the only way. Especially when most people in the world who have some form of religious affiliation, are so for one reason: Geography. They are what they are because of where they were born.
I'm just saying im always open to new possibilities but I see the most evidence pointing towards what is in my faith than any other religious thing out there is.
Sure it is possible. It is also possible that there are no other beings anywhere in the universe. I don't believe it, but yes it is possible. If you think about it honestly and openly Adam78, most (admittedly, not all) religions say their way is "the only way". Does your God send the majority of the people on this earth to Hell?
Sorry Adam78, could not decide between my two "replys"...here is the other...
Nice reply Adam78. Very well said & seemingly honest and inquisitive Thank you, too, for not taking offense, as none was intended. Let me ask you this... Did the "geography" theory work in your case? Are you more or less the same "faith" as those around you and that you grew up with?
Yeah the geography theory is quite true. Although i was not a Christian always. I rejected God for a few years and did alot of soul searching and dove into many things like studying Christianity, Judeaism, Cosmic Humanism, Marxist Leninism, and Secular humanist. It took a little bit but I have found in my studying that the bible is what is true and fully true and I do believe it fully.
Ahhh...being "saved" can do wonder in some and destruction in others. Just be careful.Listen to your own words "the bible is what is true and I believe it fully".That friend is a subtle, yet beautiful contradition.Eiter you have mis-worded it or your "faith" has become "fact",in which case,it is actualy,no longer "Faith". I hope in your studies you draw a distict line between the two.
I believe my faith is fact. If something does destroy what I believe in then I can renounce what I believed in as wrong. I believe the facts behind my faith are strong and hold up if properly defended and not evaded. I have faith that what I believe in as fact, just as i believe in Abraham Lincoln and that he existed.
Very nice T. I think the Rel Right has at least one of two positions...if not both,& probably more. 1)It is not economically viable to be concerned with the environment,at least in part, because scientific justification for alarm is simply bogus. Science is the Devil. Basic Denial. 2) They welcome Armageddon. They long for the final battle between good & evil, because,in part, they are convinced that they are so obviously the only right people on the planet. In other words..."Bring it on"
Along with the enviorment comes habitat, you are exactly right. Good speach...be nice if it made it to Bush, water bush maybe thirsty, ha ha Because he seems dryed up in that area.........
We are the living organisms inside this planet so I think we do have a responsiblity to fight whatever effects the planet. It gives us life so we should do what we can to give life back to it. I think awareness is the key right now. Not to many people are aware of what is really going on. If you are aware then I think the next best step is to make others aware, even if it means screaming out of a mega phone out of your car, lol do what you can to make others aware.
neat :) Ive heard that point a lot recently but that only moderates that think like that. Fundamentalist don't think that way and never will, for in the old testament it pretty much outlines that God gave us this place as our playground and we can use it as wee see fit as long as we obey the commandments he set forth. This is absolute bs but its sadly true :(
I didn;t know about the "playground" part. Its funny...back then I'm sure Earth was like a playground but what the OT fails to take ito concideration are the times we live in today. Thank you for your response!!!
Haha! You should've punched Bush tstop. I'm no man of faith, but I'll help to take care of Earth. Yes, you're right people do need to put themselves in another person's shoes, but it seems some people don't want to do that. Hopefully that'll change soon.
