  • Don't apologize for your playing skills ( the beginning sounds a bit like Michael Landau). I hear way too many self appointed guitar "studs" on You Tube showing off like they have a cattle prod stuck up their ass. Your doing just fine!

I have a Boogie Mark 1V though not as pretty as yours it definitely served me well for the last 20+ years!!!

Keep up the good work! And don't underestimate yourself!

  • @BGoldtone yeah you should take all that low self esteem stuff off

  • @jurgenbono Absolutely! There are a lot of videos here where people playing instruments aren't half bad but they mock themselves but then I have seen a lot of videos posted on YouTube where the poster should be totally embarrassed by what they are doing but they actually act like what they are doing is somehow worth posting when nothing could be further from the truth. Too much wasted space on YouTube when that happens. Any one with a webcam or smart phone/ video camera thinks they are a star.

  • this amp would be a perfect match for my PRS custom 24:) damn nice amp!!! good job on the demo:)

  • Damn, the amp is beautiful.

  • STP ROCKS!!!

  • awesome sound !!!

  • beautiful tone

  • What's That Dream Theater SONG!?>!?!?!?? TELL ME NOW!

  • you dont suck at all bro ... haha i love this amp i wanna buy it

  • wow 58,000 views. nice dude

  • if you suck at guitar than whats the point in having an ernie ball ball family reserve and a mark IV

  • That is one beautiful rig! I wish I never sold the one I had, mine was a combo converted to a rack head, it never had the reverb tank. I hope someday to get another one, like the one you have. I would settle for an exotic wood combo, but would rather have a rig just like yours. I miss mine, these days I have a Marshall Artist 4203 combo, it is nice but I really miss that Mark IV crunch! You are a lucky man to own such a nice rig! I checked out the Mark V, and I think it's nice but not as nice!

  • Hi, thank you for put up the video, but I have question. My guitar teacher have Mesa Boogie Mark 2, how is the sound different? Mark 2 is hard to find used and pretty expensive, but Mark 4 is new. I am thinking want should I buy? I like Mark, cause I've heard my guitar play, any suggestion? Thank you.

  • @maikay1403 buy the mark iv....the other mark ii its too expensive and at the end mark iv its very similar and have new controls and tones.

  • typical monster tone found on all mesa mark amps, mark series is amazing

  • Got a mark IV too; probably the best all around amp ever made: I am so jealous of the head man (the wood and wicker is so sick) good playing man, very entertaining to see someone play great with great tone!

  • @Boogiethrash Thanks man! =)

  • if you compare this one to other amp review videos you CAN hear the actuall sound of mark iv

  • nice playing.

Doesn't get any sexier than a ustom hardwood boogie with wicker cane grille.

    *jealous*

  • how did you go from a mark iv to a spider?

  • @scaryfried Haha, good question! Well, I moved into an apartment, and I just never could play it... So I sold it and got a nice practice amp, and in my opinion the Spider IV with the foot controller is the best practice amp setup. Its cheap, diverse, and sounds decent. I miss my Mark IV... A lot... =(

  • @mprater86 man I know that it sucks having a mark iv in an apartment, but the spider iv??? Man that thing won't sound any good no matter what. it sounds so fake, and I hate how it feels. No dynamics whatsoever!

  • @mprater86 man I know that it sucks having a mark iv in an apartment, but the spider iv??? Man that thing won't sound any good no matter what. it sounds so fake, and I hate how it feels. No dynamics whatsoever!

  • @mprater86 Shouldn't have sold it, should have kept it, just in case. XD

  • @mprater86 Not to dig bro, but you probably shoulda kept the Mark IV, and just practiced with headphones. Great tone and playing man, still trying to decide between the Mark IV and Mark V, can't make my damn mind up!

  • @mprater86 That amp is so sweet looking I would of kept it around like a peice of expensive furniture if I couldn't play it. It's really a conversation piece.

  • @scaryfried

Speaking of which, it looks like he went from a Mark IV to a spider at 2:40 in the video haha.

  • @scaryfried

Speaking of which, it soundslike he went from a Mark IV to a spider at 2:40 in the video haha.

  • sounds great

  • yo dude nice Mark IV what year im about to pull the trigger on one myself in a day or so but am very concerned bout the reliability of these are they solid amp ? i jus dont wanna lay out $1200 for an amp built in 1990 like the Mark IV i found at a small music store if they arent brick houses lol you have good reliability with yours?

  • The reliability is great, it just requires the regular tube amp maintenance

  • Such a good JP tone.

  • Ha, thanks man =)

  • Awesome amp dude! I'm going to buy a boogie Mark V, and I want a custom wood finish. What's the wood on yours? Looks just amazing and matches the color of my guitar ;)

  • gorgeous amp and tone!

  • Thanks man =)

  • the sound is crappy but i can tell this amp is great

  • Incredible sound. I'd kill for that amp! Well, not quite kill.

  • Stream of Consciousness - fucking bad ass bro.

  • Thank you =)

  • lol your good on it mate keep it up

  • keep going mate you sound good, who gives a crap about what other people think, its all about what you think of your playing

  • Thanks bro =) This video is kinda old to be honest. I've gotten a lil bit better since this.

  • that amp sounds amazing clean

  • You don't suck. God i hate it when decent people are modest, and shitty people think they're amazing.

  • how much did it cost you for the had, and how hard was it to find?

  • I paid 2,100 for the Guitar, and around 3,200 for the amp. Wasn't hard to find, I just had to wait awhile till it was finished being made.

  • Awesome lead setting for Stream Of Consciousness!

  • Thanks man =D

  • Would you mind sending me a tab for1:02 to 1:08? I love that sound your a really good player

  • Oh man I would, only thing is I was just goofing around with a kind of bluesy riff there. I'll try and remember it then I'll send ya the tabs no problem ;-)!

  • why post a clip and preface it with "the sound sucks...bla bla" it's like a opt-out clause basically saying I have no confidence in my playing but I'll post anyway. I thought it sounded OK man. If you post, just post and leave it be for people to listen, no need to deprecate the product before we hear it.

  • Yeah I wish I still had the original video to repost without the text, but I deleted it so =/... Unfortunately the text is there to stay.

  • well the reason he put the text in is cuz he sucks ass just like it said omg mprater86 go die

  • clips or you suck too douche bag

  • he knows he sucks ass at playing mprater86 just give up now and burn all your shit maybe that would be a clip worth watching lol

  • lol, I love you Ryan! You always know how to piss people off!

  • Man, you sure as hell don't suck!. keep it up!

  • lol, thanks man ;-)

  • That lead cuts like a sharp machete

  • What is your gear and the setting of your Mark IV?

    I love your sound!

    nice video

  • dont buy those things if you think your skill is sucks..try to practice more and you will be the next john petrucci..LOL..i want those stuff badly!

  • Well, I've improved since this was posted... Playing more Blue's these days, as well as getting the Under a Glass Moon Solo down pat ;-)

  • under glass a moon solo, what a great solo! keep on rockin' man..LOL just dont waste that MM john petrucci haha

  • Shit, what is that song at 0:51? That's gonna bother me now...

  • Interstate Love Song by Stone Temple Pilots

  • Nice guit. Musicman JP... is that a BFR?

  • Great sound and amp.

Looks nice that wood, and the playing was good too.I also had a mkIV , my amp is the mesa quad a difficult amp but rewarding if you take the time and research.

    greetings, Danny

  • Why you play this amp when you say you can not good play guitar?

  • Yah dude, edit your video and take out that text about you sucking. You don't suck at all! You've got the makings of a great player, you're just not that experienced yet.. Give it time. At least you've got what it takes, unlike most of the crap you see on youtube.

  • I might add, one of the better demos of this amp on youtube. Most are all chugga-chugga... which is fine and all... but your demo covers quite a bit of tonal ground - very well done!!

  • That's some awesome tone you got there dude, seriously! Love it!!

  • the sound is ok but...the color of your amp is ...GOD!!!WHY???it s a little bit ugly...hehe

  • What are you talking about the color is bad ass!

  • country amp style...i prefer black!!!

  • Its not country amp style its clear coated wood! I don't judge an amp by its color!

  • this amp can get some the greatest metal tones in my opinion

  • Yes it can ;-)! Although I don't play Metal much anymore. I kinda got in to some bluesy type of music.

  • lol, awesome chirping at the end

  • at 0:53

  • InterState Love Song, By Stone Temple Pilots.

  • Thanks

  • What was the second song you played?

  • lol dude you said you're bad... you're not bad, not at all.

  • I watched this video about a year ago and kept coming back to it. The clean in the beginning just sounds so good! I wonder if you can share your settings and your pickup position. I just love the tone you get. And you are a good player.

Funny i'm using a 4x12 and still sound thinner than yours through a 1x12!!

BTW, I don't really like the last 15 sec of distortion. You used a pedal boost on that?

  • Thanks =)! Well my Amp settings are pretty much your cookie cutter settings nothing special. As far as Pickup Position the guitar I'm using in the video has Piezo pickups witch gives it that Acoustic sound. Haha I don't like the last part at all, and no I wasn't using any boots pedal its the microphone on the computer... It doesn't pick up sound at high volumes very well

  • i was wondering, are you hooked into any effects at all?

  • In this video yes. I'm going thru a Line 6 DL4 Delay Pedal, but I really didn't like it I got a TC Electronic's G-Major, and I love it =)

  • Hey! Are you still using this rig today? If so I had a couple questions, do you know exactly what cabinet is used in this video?

Thank you and man, you don't suck.

  • Yes I'm still using it bro =) Umm... The Cab is just a 1x12 Boogie cab that I ordered with the head from Mesa. Hope that helps you dude. If you need anything else feel free to ask ;-)

  • Thanks for the speedy reply! That's good to hear. I played through a Nomad combo before making the decision that what I need is a Mesa. Upon further Mesa testing and research I learned about these amazing amps. I don't think i'll have the chance to play one until I own it, but from what I've heard, these things blow all the others out of the water. :]

Oh yeah and about my cab question.. I realized one thing will answer it.. is the back open or closed?

  • Its a closed back Cab. Well you've made a very good choice by going with MesaBoogie! My first Boogie was a Duel Rec then I sold it, and bought a Roadster After taking a Roadster head, and a 4x12 Cab out a few times I was like screw this so I wanted to get something smaller, but I wanted to stay with my Mesa roots so I looked at a few models, and fell in love with the Mark IV so I sold my roadster saved some money, and waited almost 5 months for this amp to be made

  • Dude I know what you mean. On that second setting? I believe is what you meant sounded the worst translated to camera. I made a video with mine before I had really figured out how to set it and it sounded pretty bad. Nice "up high" lead tone, not so much the rhythm lead tone if you know what I mean. Probably the cam though.

  • Settings.....now.

  • get some self confidence - i enjoyed your demo, thanks

  • This is possible the greatest amp ever

  • thanks man...i'm glad i'm such a proud owner of one:_)

  • Nice amp, and your playing is really good, don't put yourself down...sounds great!

  • 1st of all your playing doesnt suck. Next you can never go too wrong with a Boogie MkIV. They are just wonderful!

  • Thanks ;-)

  • you're not that bad of a player

  • You sir, are an idiot. His amp was emitting way too much volume for the camera to handle...So it got distorted. These amps sound AWESOME in person. And no, he just turned the gain to a higher channel, he did not change the EQ.

  • Dude, is there reason for that shit... If its bad you don't have to be an ass hole about it. Personally i think its sounds great and by looking at all the other comments im not alone. So you sir are an idiot!

  • This sounds sweet, how much does such thing cost (2nd hand?)

  • ebay between $1200-1600

  • Heavy Scoop = noob. I keep mine kinda inbetween 0 and fully scooped.

  • That scoop is fine, so long as your not playing with a band, as than you may get lost in the mix, but in reality it's all about personal taste, there is no "WRONG" setting, just different ears.

  • i'm so jealous of that amp cab and head, let alone the bubinga finish. and wicker cane grill.

    god damn you!!!

  • LOL!

  • Playing sounds great! What does a mark iv like that run for?

  • great

    dt man :D

    mesa rocks!

    cheers

  • hey man how old r u?

  • I'm 21... Why? LOL!

  • just asking haha

  • that whole scroll thing that said you suck pissed me off. but i thought it sounded really great. nice amp.

  • very authentic petrucci tone!

  • lol seems everyone who owns a Mark IV is a Dream Theater fan...Stream of Consciousness, nice.

  • Haha thanks man =)

  • At least he told the truth. The sound and playing are not good.

  • such nice gear for somebody who probably hasnt been playing very long

  • I've been playing Guitar for 13 years bro... That long enough for ya?

  • you said in the video that you suck at guitar..... and you've been playing 13 years....

  • Lay off him dickweed. You're the one who probably sucks -- that's why you go around insulting people.

  • I didn't say he sucked. Imo he's pretty good. But i'm just noticing the inherent contradiction of his statements.

YOU should lay off and read what people write before jumping to conclusions.

  • Damnit. He's better than me...

  • seems really lame to say you suck as an introduction when you are obviously proud of your video/playing. doing this is called fishing for compliments...

  • Haha NO its saying I'm not a great Guitar player. I would say I'm about average in skill... Nothing special. Sucking in my eye's is not being anything special or anything that stands out... I never ment I suck as I'm a goddamn def-mute that thought he was the best guitar player, Now that's someone who sucks lol!!

  • is 2:40 just the amp or effects too?

  • Just the amp, and a bit of Delay. I know it sounds like shit lol but it's the computer's mic.

  • Hello

    wich tube do you use?

  • Mesa Boogie 6L6

  • I think I need to borrow your channel 2 settings. I'll manage without the lead channel settings.

  • i love the begining. what is that song or did you make it up

  • It's made up, I already asked that =)

  • cebix : Dream Theater : Stream of Consciousness :)

  • what's the song you start playing at 1:19?

  • Its a song called Stream of Consciousness, by Dream Theater!

  • it's probably just the mic or something but you have way too much bass going on there.

  • Yea man its the mic on the computer... So yea its not the amp. like I said you can't hear the amps true sound, but you can get an idea. Its YouTube LOL what do you expect...

  • or maybe a laney vh100r

  • Carvin? No thanks...

  • Nice sounding amp! and your playing is fine dude. don't be so hard on yourself!

  • Haha well I'm not great just about average I would say, but thanks =)

  • .. and you don't. Ouch. Good gear is more fun to play on that dogshit gear - try it sometime.

  • Now, you're just a jealous asshole!

  • LOL!

  • what pedals are being used?

    please answer... thanks!

  • he's just using the foot switch... i hope that there is no pedals at all...

    ps: sorry, my english sucks...

  • Its just a tiny bit of Delay.

  • hey man . nice sound , its only the amp ? or some profesional recording prosses?

  • ya it is a very nice looking amp i once knew some one who had one just like it and the same guitar and sold it. i would hold on to that as long as u can o by the way you a ASS lol

  • Wow, amazing sound and also it's very beautiful!

    I'm very jealous. :)

    Thanks for sharing.

  • How much for it?

  • That amp is soooo pretty.

Really like that you're not trying to be too clever with effects like half the other video demos, just the amp.

    Very nice.

  • Hey what was that very first riff in the beginning? Sounded superb

  • Oh I just made that up. its just drop D and some power chords.

  • Oh, sounded cool

  • hey man nice setup!!

how much did the whole amp cost (cab and head)??

    thanks

  • Petrucci fanboy?

  • Hehe at one point I was... Not so much anymore because my style has changed a bit.

  • Um yes.

  • ..."the stuff that dreams are made of".

  • Tell me....what cab is that one? Whats the choice of wood?? Very nice set u got there, congratz!!!!!

  • i believe its a maple wood exterior, its a mesa boogie cab that matches the amp xhassis whatever wood he picked

  • freaking fucking awesome

  • lamb of god uses the same head.

  • Ummmmm *gulp* Umm, is... is that the John Petrucci signature Music Man, being played through a MkIV Mesa?

Because if it is.... oh, 1:24. Dream Theater. It obviously is then. Dear Lord man, I want to be you.

  • Yea dude thats my Amp and Guitar! I love it lol! It sounds really really good :)

  • That amp is worth every penny..If I could afford it I would have it next to my bed in a heartbeat!

  • congratulations, you have an excellent amp...

  • Haha thanks :)
