@Johfunu Triple trouble has roughly the same story as Sonic 3, since it still has Knuckles stealing all of your emeralds at the start, you and Tails chasing after him and Eggman running off with one of his own. Sonic Chaos on the other hand is just another side game with a similar intro (just no Knux). In Sonic Chaos you either need to collect 5 emeralds as Sonic to get the last one off Eggman or just bash through the zones as Tails. Consider playing as Tails an easy mode.

The development teams for each system were different and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Game Gear and Master System already didn't have much to do with Sonic Team's Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Mega Drive, so it made all sense.

Sometimes I wish they would've just ported the originals over, with some extras thrown in. Game Gear Sonic 2 especially. It was fun, but it got real dull and complicated in some spots. I remember one such interview online describing the gameplay as "taking leaps of faith and jumping straight into the abyss" lol. Sonic Chaos/Sonic & Tails was great though.

i realize that this is an older video but i gotta say that it doesn't really sound like gamegear. there's too many channels and the bass is way too low pitch. yeah yeah gxscc is bad and all that, but if you engineer the midi a bit, you can make it sound accurate even in gxscc.

This is not "hard work". This is taking a midi off of some site (generally vgmusic.com) and running it through a program that changes the instruments.

There are people out there who actually transcribe these tunes by hand with soundfonts or a program that follows 8-bit restrictions; not only does that take more "hard work" than your method, it also sounds more accurately like an 8-bit tune and doesn't involve plagiarism.

They did make Sonic 1 & 2 on the Game Gear, but in the way they weren't just ports, but completely different games themselves. Sonic 1 had three new original zones, and Sonic 2 (which was released before the Mega Drive/Genesis version and marked the debut of Tails) featured completely different zones and a different plot too.
