  • Furtwangler, the greatest conductor who ever lived ... isn't it too much to expect him to be a great composer as well?

  • well, he just thought that he couldn't go on composing for a job, but I greatly want to encourage people who compose from their heart! Unlike lots of modern things which are ugly sometimes..

  • Ehre seinem Andenken!

  • The most powerful concerto for piano and orchestra of the repertoire. Dramatism is equal to its huge symphonical view created by a great romantic composer called Willem Furtwangler.

  • those initial double handed chords sounded like the pianist banging his head into the keys.

  • @Musicimpro Wow, that's a really stupid comment.

  • I heard a recording with Edwin Fischer and Furtwangler in class last week. Some parts of that recording were missing, so thanks for posting the complete concerto! Love, Esmeralda.

  • tragic, the most adecuated word for this

  • Quick ........ where are my Mozart recordings?

  • How DRAMATIC ! WHAT A GENIUS !

  • This opening resembles that of Brahms piano quartet no.1(Schoenberg). Actually, his symphony no.2 is one of my favorite pieces. It is such a great work,.

  • Can you put his symphonies?

  • The entrance of the piano reminds me of the Berg Piano Sonata in its harmonic progressions.

  • the music isn't going anywhere...

  • @mahlerman101 I found this more intriguing than the combined output of Mahler. Of course, only my humble opinion...

  • what a find! Thank you! Great piece...now let's upload the entire symphonic work by Klemperer! :)

  • how about uploading the symphony #2- it sounds at least as much influenced by brahms and indeed sibelius, as by bruckner, etc.

  • I have this performance. Furtwängler was vastly underrated as a conductor, as this piece (especially the gargantuan opening movement) shows. I'd love to hear it live someday.

  • Don't you mean underrated as a composer?

  • Yes :)
