sorry i should make my self more clear teachers are smart people as the have to pass the tests ect so because there smart they should be able to learn about new things to teach as they come up
teach the teachers how to teach. a good teacher is better than a teacher that knows everything about his or her subject because you can learn as you go along really. another thing is that you need to be teaching math and enlish but you also need to be doing history, p.e. ect so that the kids can get passaite about something.
I was unhappy and told my supervisor I had spent a lot of money and effort getting my degree in education and I was not being compensated for my time even at the minimum wage level when one considers how much time I spent writing individualized lessons for my 80 or so students, attending meetings, and taking classes unpaid for by my employer that where demanded of me. She told me it was not her job to take care of my family. After gas I was taking home about $550 a month. I quit.
I know you wrote this on youtube a long time ago so i hope this gets to you.
I can only imagine what it must be like to be involved in the US educational system. I live in Canada, actaully about 45 mins from one of the most, recently announced, illiterate cities in America, Buffalo NY.
I have noticed that education never seems to be a top priority for Americans as spending money for people to learn how to read and write is considered a "socialist" program.
That being said i hope your new president can do something to better your educational system however i have to say that i highly doubt it.
My suggestion, although it sounds nuts, is come to Canada. Standard education is guranteed in Canada and our tuition for post secondary is very low(6K per year for undergrad, 10K for Masters level), this is because everybody pays a little more taxes to pay more for teachers. Even our special ed programs are readily available and pay quite well. Good luck ;)
I was a reading teacher at the college level for adults with disabilities. My job only paid me approximately $700 a month to work 5 days a week and write individualized lessons for each student addressing their individualized reading problems. The job was classified as part time, but as I said I was to be on campus 5 days a week, write all my lessons on my own time , meet with supervisors and attend meetings on my own time. When gas prices went up I had to quit.
