Why... why did you use a one-voiced translation for Russian language? They suck man. They were done when there were no official translations in Russian language, but then they appeared. And Star Wars Original Trilogy had a pretty great voice over translation for the SE, and an ok voice dub for 2004 DVD.

All russian pirate copies are dubbed the way you heard it - but if the copy is a licenzed one, than it is dubbed normally like in other languages.

Now we offcourse have lisensed copies with a normal translatiob too now, thanks God! But in the end80-beginning90s, when this film came to former USSR countries for the first time, we had only pirated copies with not a good translation:-)

Actually, maybe in Russia this way of dubbing movies is gone but not in Poland. :/ In theaters they are subtitled (I mean, those not animated and/or directed to kids - they are traditionally dubbed) but in TV a voiceover (always male) reads all the lines. It may sound really weird for foreigners but people in Poland got used to it. And our TV channels like it too - it's cheap and does not require viewer to actually watch the movie so that they can e.g. read a newspaper or sth... :(
