  • love it -- great flying

  • wow

  • And the code is TNCS. TFFJ is St. Barths. K

  • Bananas1386, enjoy the ferry, it sux. Aviation2001, that BD-5J may be small, but that don't mean it can land short. K

  • so there is a med school i am applying to there...they said it take 15 minutes from St. Martaan by plane of 90 minutes by boat...as long as the boat doesn't have a hole on the bottom I would take the boat...or just stay in the US with longer runways....

  • The locals claim that Saba's runway is the shortest commercial airport runway in the world. It is 400 meters (1300 feet) in total length. The span of runway between the white lines demarking the "usable" runway length measures just under 1000 feet. There are not any overrun areas on either end of the paved runway where shear cliffs immediately drop off over 200 feet into the sea. Officially, the runway is permanently closed to all air traffic as is designated by the "X" on each end. However

  • woah! hold your breath and braaaake!!

  • airplane??

  • big k.nackers

  • Nice landing Oh Brave pilots ! ;-)

When constructed it was supposed for... gulls landing, but one the way became for airplanes! ;-)

  • @124simran Do you know how long it is?

  • I SO LOVE MY ISLAND <3333

  • WOW! That was short! Good landing! :)

  • fuck that.

  • SABA is the code for the airport, i forgot the real name for it.

  • @Moelander1 No, the ICAO is TFFJ (or G I dunno which)

  • I landed an ultra light there once on flight sim. Easy!

  • you must b close to stall speed ?? to land

  • What a master ! Great it is !

  • now do it in a 747

  • Ай эм скэрриед вери мач!

  • @124simran Nope. Said it before, will say it again, Lukla is 1500ft and this video is of Saba, 1150ft. Lukla pilots are bad ass SOB's though....

  • @Kezller i am so sure that lukla is 50% longer than saba bro

  • @Boeing747type8 it's not 50% longer, just 350ft longer. Have you seen the videos from that airport??? Freaking nuts. I don't care how long the runway is.

  • @Kezller But they can be bad there only once and never again.

  • Love the last comment 'Damn that's short' LOL well done pilot!

  • Well actually, the world's shortest runway is in Fiji.

  • @CockatooDude which one? I can't find it....

  • @Kezller its so short nobody cant find it

  • Kudos to the pilot that can make that approach look easy.

  • it's not 1150 ft! it 800 ft!

  • cool!!!

  • a carrier is longer lol! nice vid!

  • Damn thats short!

  • @TheJuli1241 well I can land an antonov 225 there

  • holy moly.. i'll go by boat!!

  • Is there a terminal/parking place or just a runway?

  • I CAN LAND AN AIRBUS A380 THERE!

  • SABA airport YAY

  • I showed my grandma this just now. It looked like she was going to barf when she saw the plane right by the cliff's edge!

  • @nik0lhc Pilots are permitted to land there if they sign a waiver, or if it's an emergency.

  • That is NOT a runway, that's somebody's damned driveway.... Contemplating having to land there would keep me up all night sh1tting myself.....

  • That Pilot is better than Chuck Norris

  • how did they land there isn't that airport closed?

  • thats the scariest thing have ever seen!

  • SOUNDS LIKE A DIESEL

  • what plane are those guys flying?

  • @lololcarmani DHC-6-300 Twin Otter

  • @lololcarmani :RC-101

  • No room for error!!!

  • That looks like San Clemente Island airport of the coast of California? Am I right?

  • @Fijianwave Nope, that is St. Barts in the Islands of St. Marteen.

  • @TarrVlogs nice try but no cigar! (Hint: read the tag line on the video...)

  • @Fijianwave nope, it's Saba in the Caribbean

  • @Fijianwave Negative, this is not the rock! I was stationed there!

  • AINT SHORT

  • "hit your dang it breaks!"

"...but we just landed a half second ago!"

    "DO IT OR START SWIMMING!"

  • is that plane use bridgestone?

  • Piece of cake !

  • looked like a highway..if it wasnt for the markings

  • Hope they can get to speed when they take off !!

  • can u guystell me what the point of flying there is?

  • yep SABA SABA SABA :)

  • If you don't land just right you automatically do a touch-n-go.

  • Fuck that.

  • Someone better hit the brakes fast

  • help you self jump to 1:04

  • Well thats just sick ;o

  • How come they land downhill?

  • Lol Jks I can land an A380 their easily Jks

  • NICE! You nailed it.

  • " Damn that's short" - PILOT

  • i want see Antonov An-225 Landed here :) ...

  • *Archivment unlocked* :D

  • "Damn, that's short". YA THINK! Last time I saw something that big land on something that small it had a tailhook. Think I'll chopper in next time.

  • Good landing but I think I'll get the boat eh.

  • WOW, really short. But wasnt you a little bit to fast?. I mean you could land on a little bit shorter runway too?!

  • Good landing but somehow I think I wont be going there anytime soon lol!

  • might be the shortest commercial runway, but it is far from the shortest place a DHC-6 can land.

  • @mrpilot102 Jets like Boeing 737s etc, don't land there. They land on St. Maarten and then go to Saba with a smaller plane.

  • @TheXshot I didn't say jets land on Saba.

  • Hey great video! I love that pilot... Anyway, Saba island has the world's smallest runway WITH commercial service, however I'm sure the runway 10/28 at Navy Portland (EGDP) has the world's smallest runway that is closed (228m!!!).

  • @a380rockerfan is that runway for kites to land?

  • @wanitek Don't think so. I don't see any point or benefit having a runway 228m long lol.

  • Holy shit! That was close :o

  • I was liike oh shit oh shit oh shit.. phew

  • hahaha, damn that's short. yea no shit. best part of the clip

  • Flight Simulator... in real life!

  • Nice landing! What was your approach speed?

  • @RandomPedestrian63 65 kts is the Twin Otter approach speed with full flap, this runway get's scary when there is no wind, makes for long landings on that short strip! K

  • @Kezller Love it, what airline is that ? Privat Cesna. Love to fly ....

  • @Ledalways was taken by my co-pilot while I was working for Winair, a company based in St. Maarten. We got to play around with Twin Otters in the sun all day, not a bad gig! K

  • @Kezller Actually Vref speed will change with weight. Landing heavy in the otter with full flap is not 65 kts. The T/O can easily land in 600-800 foot gravel bars, eskers, etc. so I'm not sure what the great concern of landing on 1150 is?

  • @mrpilot102 sigh......why do I always get a bunch of know it all's on this video? 65kts is what we use for approach, yes it varies a bit with weight, do you feel better that you pointed that out? Once again, of course the Twin Otter can land shorter, this video exists to find people that have cool video's of the plane DOING EXACTLY THAT! So, mrpilot (seriously? that's your name?) show me a video of you flying and landing shorter. I'm sure with a name like mrpilot that will be no problem.

  • @Kezller sorry I am a professional. When we are landing in very short strips we aren't video taping it. My co-pilot is calling out ref speeds and ground speed...pretty stupid to be landing the Otter on a 600-700' strip with only one crew doing their job. I understand how some people might be wowed by the death defying Saba landing because they don't know any better.

  • @mrpilot102 once you have the ref speed, why does your co-pilot have to keep calling it out? Don't need the co-pilot doing anything on that close on final, maybe you need the help, we didn't. By the way, if your thing is to bother people on their video's, congratulations. Like I said, go get one of your own videos and we'll discuss. Enjoy the videos! K

  • tip: Your fucked if you cant stop there

  • lol? my drive way is longer....

  • I wonder what it's like doing this with a very bad weather :s

  • The smallest strip in the world and you are landing a twin turboprop on it.

That's the Twin Otter for you.

  • lukla is shorter

  • @10aagun actually it's not! Lukla is 1500 ft while Saba is 1150ft. Lukla is freaking nuts though, big respect to those guys that fly there. K

  • @Kezller oh i thougt it was srry but lukla is more dngerous right

  • @Kezller OMG, you just landed on my driveway! lukla still helps with slowing down since it is pitched upwards and helps with take off the other direction. its just scarier because you got limited time to abort and retry. maybe y'all should use the hook and cable method like the aircraft carriers lol. and raise up an end wall to help with thrust response on takeoff.

  • try landing a 747 on this, lol

  • @RandomPedestrian63 almost funny

  • @kalit8001 your almost not a douchebag.

  • Could a C-17 make it? Reportedly, it's able to takeoff (without JATO) and land within 1400 ft, but this runway is over 200 feet shorter.

  • @DemonAMVs did you get ur plane?

  • @DemonAMVs I would never hire you as a co-pilot. Go get your own license like everyone else.

  • @Kezller Well, well....touchy, touchy! Have a good time flying that computer fella, maybe I'll come buzz your house one day. In future, keep your advice to yourself.

  • St. Barts is crazy as well. I don't know if the runway is as short as on Saba but it slopes! Saba's runway at least is horizontal. I have to say, though, that if the brakes fail I'd rather be on St. Barts where you end up on a sandy beach. On Saba you go over a cliff and into the water.

  • @iamlrrr check out my other videos of landing in St. Barths, it's not that bad actually...K

  • You guys got this all wrong...this is really a very well camoflaged aircraft carrier!

  • Ok I got it wrong it's one of the shortest runways you can cross it what is very fun

  • Skagway, Alaska

  • i think my driveway is..idk..

  • i think gibraltar is shorter ive seen jets land there its a raf base

  • @unofficiallAirsoft ok, let me explain again, Gibralter airport is 9000ft long, freaking BA fly into there. This is a 1150ft runway that no jet in the world could EVER land on. Please don't comment if you don't know what you're talking about.

  • @Kezller can a BD-5J land there?

  • @unofficiallAirsoft you kidden

  • Is this new version of Microsoft Flight Simulator? When it comes out??

  • @dawkothot no, this is a new thing called, REALITY. Put away your computer for a while...K

  • @Kezller K

  • @Kezller He's trolling

  • @Kezller LOL i love e-assholes. did you not watch the video yourself? even the pilot said, "damn, thats short"

maybe you should put away YOUR computer. K?!?!?! ...k (lmao fucking assholes)

  • @superfly1842 you do know that I am the pilot in the video right? That's why it's MY video....

  • @dawkothot LOL what a bitch, it's obviouslly REAL life, put your computer away for some days

  • @dawkothot Where can i buy this one?I NEED to get one of these!

  • The shortest runway that can land a JET. Is in Juneau Alaska

  • @pegcares depends on the jet, what about an aircraft carrier? What about London City?

  • The TwinOtter is such a amazing airplane.. Glad to have flown it twice from TNCM to TFFJ and back! :-) Are you a Winair pilot?

  • @TheJeffreyklm I was for 4 years, was a lot of fun! I miss it from time to time but now i own a seaplane company called Fly the Whale based in BVI, check out our videos from New York and the Caribbean! Thanks for the feedback! K

  • @nicknewstrom16 are you serious? Get your head out of the clouds fella....

  • What was the plane?

  • @KLMPilot03 when you see the throttles on the roof, that's a twin otter. My baby....

  • Omg u scared me like shit when u were at the very end of the runway

  • Can that runway handle a private jet like a G5? Or can a runway like that only handle the propellers?

  • @carhart001 as far as i know it handles only Twinn Otter and i suppose only special categorized pilots can fly to Saba. G5's landing roll is bigger than 400 meters and this runway lenght is not more than 300 :DDD

  • Many artificial reefs over the cliff at the end of that runway?

  • I`d better use boat to get there.

  • Thank you for no music from an old fart.

  • what an amazing landing! and a view to complement it..

  • quite handsome pilot.. XD

  • @suzulullu why thank you!

  • @Kezller you're welcome.. must be the uniform ;)

  • a bit like landing on an aircraft carrier (without the arresting hook and cables)

  • FO needs to put away that damn camera

  • @landmark425 When you're the Captain, then you can tell your co-pilot what to do, until then, I let mine take awesome videos! K

  • @samtalbot CFII rated. Maybe I should start filming while my students are flying. K

  • shortest commercial flight I think is in scotland.

  • BOF! We used to go at George River with the Beech 18 and it had only 800 feet...

These twin Otters only need 300 feet, but insurance require a thousand for a sched run.

I've seen Ken Borek Twin Otters land on top of flat Arctic Mesas that where 4000 feet high and only 300 feet long by thirty feet wide!

  • @hotspur666 let's see some videos!

  • Sweet!

  • Jesus, nice video.. Didn't expect to see displaced thresholds on that runway!

They are some retards posting stupid comments on this video :)

  • oh man, it freaks me out when i see such landings like that, and even more when i see the pilot smiling after that

  • OMG, das war knapp! ^^

  • these guys have balls landing there

  • The runway is exactly 350m, not a lot of clerance if one engine out at V1!!

  • Is there a FSX scenery for this? Pay- o freeware?

  • @LufthansaDAIGO Both pay and freeware, the best is the payware, search for saba, st maarten, an st barth scenery, you get all three of them, not expensive :)

  • How many places have gone over the edge here?

  • @zenmachinefilms Actually, there are no reported accidents, and there havn't been one yet either, and the airport opened a few years ago, so stasisticly, very safe airport :)

  • how do u take off from that small runway??

  • Drat, looks more like an airstrip for Ultralights :-)

    Good pilots.

  • What? No safety net at the end of the runway???????? Is the craft a SAAB 340?

  • Costateguise - 1150ft usable is an aviation term meaning the length of runway available for take-off or landing. Otherwise known as TODA and LDA. This is *very* short!

  • Is it useable? Course its useable or it wouldnt be there.

  • Yeah, now land a Antonov 225... Have fun .

  • real and gay

  • what airplane????

  • yeah i live in changuinola bocas del toro not bocas del toro island bocas del toro

    CHA panama 1100 ft

  • yeah i live in changuinola bocas del toro not bocas del toro island bocas del toro
