And thus,they end up in the backstage of a show while trying to find a hiding place, and to hide from the goons, they dress up in whatever costumes they find...babita ending up in the man's costume and vice versa.. :) so thats y they r cross-dressed...

During the 1950's OP Nayyar threatened the popularity of many of the well established composers of his time. They pushed to have him boycotted and forced out of the industry. All India radio also stopped playing his songs under pressure from these influential chaps in the industry. Even many playback singers refused to sing his songs to join in the boycott (one of them being lata mangeshkar). It was Shamshad Begum who came forth and told OP that she would sing his songs and make him famous again
