  • hey when i try to install it blocks at 0:17 and it just stays like that i can move the cursor but that's it, it wont open window where i can chose the language.. can anybody help please? i have a good pc btw..

  • how can i save my data

  • i have a windows vista home edition on my hp pavilion dv2000 and i have a windows 7 ultimate disk and when i start setup i says it is like missing instalation files. so what do i do

  • @jakeferneau I have'nt seen that message before. Does it give you an error code of some sort?

  • ok i have windows 7 beta and i try to install it but it gets stuck on 75% when its expanding windows files then it gives me and error code what do i have to do i have vista and i dont have 1 gb of ram i have like 735 i think plz help me

  • What is the error code?

  • i think 8007001577 or something like that

  • And, to install 7, you need at least 1GB of RAM.

  • If you have an upgrade copy of Win7 you should only have to put the CD in the computer again when the installer prompts you. If you purchased a full Win7 copy, then you would'nt.

  • Windows 7 setup doesn't recognize my hard drive :( why is that?

  • Is this a new PC? My guess is that you will need the raid controller drivers for your system.

  • ok thanx :)

  • I want to do a clean install of windows 7. So when it comes to the part when i select my hard drive, do i select format or delete? Please help lol

  • Either one would do it. If you delete the partition, and no more exist on the drive windows will partition all the space and perform a quick format on it.

I like too delete the partition, and create a new one, then format it myself to make sure there are no issues before proceeding. I'm old school like that.

  • So if i clicked format on the xp drive c, will it delete it and install 7 on drive c then?

  • Yes, be sure to backup any files you want off the drive beforehand. Also if you have an upgrade copy of windows 7 you will need to have your XP cd around so it can see it and upgrade it.

  • Thanks i understand now :)

Also, is there any software that i can use for free to back up drivers?

  • I don't bother to backup the drivers for a system because 99.99% of the time you can always download the latest versions from the manufacturer's website. Besides the XP drivers would not work on Windows 7, so backing them up would only be useful if you wanted to go back to XP.

  • 2.93GHz and 736MB of RAM

    can i run windows 7? :(

  • I have 64bit system and 1GB of ram. I'm running XP , think i have DDR on RAM ,Anthlon Processor +3500 , 2.21GHz. Can i Run Win7?

    I'm running XP now.

  • Thought I answered this already... You can run Win 7. Given you would barely meet the requirements for it. I would suggest that you upgrade the RAM to at least 2GB.

  • Always backup your files before ANY OS upgrade.

You should be able to perform an in place upgrade of a 64 bit Windows OS to a new 64 bit Windows OS.

HOWEVER my experience makes me say to do a full wipe a reload as some people have had issues with the 64 bit version upgrade vs the 32bit version. This is because of the stronger driver signing enforcement differences, etc, etc.

Just backup and do a wipe and reload to be 100% sure of a smooth experience.

  • I dont know anything about

"Just backup and do a wipe and reload"

    How ?`

    Thanks

  • so if i have vista and i upgrade to window 7 it will erase everything ??

  • You can do an in place upgrade, I presonally perfer starting fresh though

  • @DefconComputers

hey i have the install disk and everything but i want to keep my programs.....else i need to buy them again. i am only able to get the programs if i install xp again...... could you send me a PM how to upgrade and keep everything?

  • Upgrading from XP to 7 is just a matter of putting the disk in and running the upgrade program.

If your programs are old I recommend upgrading them to the latest versions to prevent issues.

  • u got a computer in a computer? Wowtf

  • I <3 my virtual machines.

  • u get media player in home premium too

  • It's a beta, it's supposed to be used by people who are going to test it. Not for full blown production use yet. If you have problems file a report to microsoft so it can be fixed in the retail version.

  • If i was to install the new windows 7 OS on my vista computer when it comes out. will i have to install everything again or will it remove vista

  • It would likely just do an upgrade on vista. Windows 7 in my opinon is just Vista upgraded.

  • how to downgrade windows 7 to vista? it took me like 5 minutes to load this page and there isn't any sound

  • Must be an issue on your end. Also this isn't a downgrade from 7 to vista?!

  • no matter i just dled vista agian and BAAM lol it still gives me an error when i try to burn it to disc i wasted like 4 dvds lol

  • Do u know how to do this on Microsoft Virtual Machine?

  • I have'nt used MS Virtual Machine in a long time. I take it yours is not installing for you?

  • I haven't even tried it yet.

  • Yup Start up the machine click CD then capture ISO and open up the ISO image file. Workds fine.
