@TheSethGalleyChannel Its just a harbor freight wood lathe its like 600 bucks. I bought the spinning tools on ebay from a guy named Terry Tynan, just search "metal spinning".
@TheSethGalleyChannel No problem, I'm much better at it ow than I was in the video, Its a while to learn to do it properly. Its fun though, you should try it.
When did you get into making toroids? How much for the equipment? I did sell a large one on Ebay. Can you make them that big now? It does require a large lathe.

@imsmoother I bought the lathe a year ago but it took me a year to actually make toriods with it. So far im just making 9 inch and 6 inch ones. I can make 13 inch ones max. Its a pain in the ass.
@mfx1 Well i had a few before i got the proper tools but when i got the real tools i was successful first try. Of course I had to tweak the mandrels a little and rework the finished disks too a little. The normal spinning is much faster than in this video but I was using some thicker material in this vid.
@Tab54o Thanks. BTW I was talking to a local spinning firm yesterday to get some advice and was told that an experienced spinner can earn up to £1000 per week! He said if I turned out to be any good at it he'd offer me a job :-)
Nice video, very useful. I just received the miniBute book this morning and have ordered the PVC sheet and tube. I'm going to have a go at making my own toroid on my Myford wood turning lathe, just done a CAD drawing to make up test patterns for the wood forms. Good point about making the forms out of sheets glued together. I'm very luckily as I have both a hardwood supplier and a metal spinners very close to me, the spinner is very happy for me to watch them work and ask questions :-)
@CrashByron Thanks man, I made the forms. Its a wood lathe and I bought the tools and tool rest on ebay. I really need to make a new form too. I recommend not using a solid blocks of wood for the forms. The ones I made cracked after i was done and i had to fill the cracks and re shape them. Hardwood planks sandwiched together will work much better.
@Tab54o Thanks for the tips. I will have to try this, although I plan on making my own make shift spinning lathe. Commercial type lathes are too expensive. Does your form just screw onto a standard face tuning mandrel?
@CrashByron No its has aplate that screwed to it. I bought this set that comes with 4 plates and one matching interface that has only a few turns on it opposed to the 8 turns the actual shaft has. Its like a quick change type thing. You can attach the plates to several mandrels so you can swap between the mandrels faster. They do sell mandrel taps so you can have then screw directly on which i also have but haven't tried yet.
@TeslaCommander Thanks, the lathe is a cheapo harbor fright lathe, I didn't have the tools to make spinning tools so i bought them on ebay, they're nice.
what macine equitment are you using to make the Toroid.
name? brand? where can you buy one?
Help On This, Would Be Much Appriciated.
Thanks :)

You should offer these on ebay, I would definitely buy one!

@CrashByron I was thinking about it but they don't line up perfectly. I'm actually making some new mandrels right now to make them bigger.

Very nice work! I have been looking for ways to make my own spinning lathe. Did you make your own spinning forms? From wood it looks like?
Your work inspires me. Keep it up!
