One of the best death metal songs, if not my personal favourite. The rotten and crumbling sound in addition to the deep and gutteral vocals just create an overwhelming atmosphere in a disgusting way. I believe that finnish death metal has really captured the essence of 'death metal' which is defiance of all standards and complacent ideas and conjuration of cruel , abhorrent or otherwordly images each time with a different aim.
Finnish Death has that crypt-like atmosphere, never duplicated, i love it, more than American or Swedish, and just a question? How did you get your hands on all these cult Finnish albums and demos?? I've managed to get Demigod's 'Unholy Domain' 1991 demo tape, but you must have a room full of cult Finnish metal! \m/
Well, yeah. But I think there's dozens of old-school maniacs with multiple times more tapes than I do. Congrats on that "Unholy Domain". One of the epitomes of Finnish Death metal
Oops, sorry, Disment of Soul of course. Relapse Records USA signed Amorphis immediately after the release of the demo. It was so promising, eventhough it was recorded pretty quickly and the songs weren't so finished. Privilege of Evil MCD is missing only one song from the demo. PoV was actually supposed to released as a split-LP with Incantation, but I think it was Amorphis which was against it after all. They weren't that happy with the recording... continues
Aivan, tottakai. Death metallista kun puhuttiin niin menin hieman sekaisin.
Yes. "Privilege of Evil" has one of the most brutal sounds I've ever heard on Death metal records EVER. What a shame I can't find the lyrics for the title track and "Excursing from Excistence". I didn't know anything of that Incantation fact. Maybe they didn't want Incantation to look too gay XD

@REPULSION77
Abhorrence / Violent Solution indeed were the predecessors of Amorphis in a way.

@GTASbo0mst1ck
I got quite a collection of re-releases and first press CDs and vinyls of these classics. Not so much of demo tapes ,though. Only a handful.

@XysmicExecration a handful is still a quite impressive part of a collection

Wait until you hear the Disment of Soul demo, the sounds are also very brutal and raw. Especially the distortion in the bass is awesome...
Oops, strong words on Incantation, the band holds pretty much a cult status... ;-)

...I think it's great stuff, still true death metal whilst the debut album Karelian Isthmus hit the more melodic path.
Naapurinpojilla tarkoitin Abhorrencea/Amorphista, samoilla kulmilla/kouluissa kun kakaroina hengailtiin...

This could be "The" death metal demo from Finland... the best ever.
Amorphis's "Dismal of Soul" demo is almost as good as this.
Naapurinpojat rokkaa!!!
migu22222 3 years ago
Totally agree, atleast from those, which I've heard. I should get "Dismal of Soul" somewhere . . or was it "Disment of Soul".
Ruotsalaisistako nyt puhutaan ?

Kaikist paras versio tästä on siinä Amorphiksen Privilege of Evilillä.

Empä tiedä. Alkuperänenkin on aika kova. Koko "Vulgar Necrolatry" on ihan saatanan kova demo.
XysmicExecration 3 years ago
On se mut äänenlaatu vaa kusee demos nii ei saa kunnol selvää.

Misery Path 7" EP:llä oleva versio Vulgar Necrolatrystä on kans aika kova...
