Earle wrote it. So his is the original version. He wrote it about meeting a girl in Galway afaik. Mundy's is the cover. Although I prefer Mundy's version.

Actually, Steve Earles did sing it originally. He's a Nashville singer, so (technically) it's an American song about falling in love with a Galway Girl. But I prefer to think of it as Irish too!
