  • WOW...definitely MY kind of music !!! :)

  • Nice Drum-Break at 7.46

  • Two of the greatest guitarists together on the same stage. It doesn't get better than this.

  • Knopfler playing rythm for you ==> you are good.

  • hehe tell me your fantasies

  • durmo e acordo ouvindo esta musica (quando durmo) kkkkkkkkkkkk

  • two gods playing together makes me go into an almost religious musical frenzy : :)

  • Ei paha.

  • @lumikangas Ei todellakaan.

  • @lumikangas ju ei!

  • also Tell me your fantasies

  • io sono completamente contro le droghe quindi non demolitemi un mito ed un esempio da seguire come knopfler per favore ...

  • 00;19 - 2;10 is just awsome. I like the guitars :D

  • @Dontheturtledude...readabout Knopfler FROM Knopfler...he did abuse alcohol early on and partied hard but fortunately got over it like a lot of them didn't.

  • I pity JJ Cale. :) They probably had to teach him speaking again after listening to this version got him stunned like by a stun gun for days, making him unable to say a word ;-) (with your mouth open, this is difficult :P)

  • un dieu de la guitare !

  • 0:07 Epic Clapton off his fucking epic cigarette!

  • isso é que é show!!!!

  • One of the few songs where MK sticks to the rules...

  • @dergrossen

what do you mean by "sticking to the rules"?

  • @custardpiekashmir sticks with clapton..does not virtuoso..sticks with the music...no fancy stuff...just basic rythhms and harmony

  • @dergrossen

nobody can make a guitar sing like mark.

i've never seen him overdo anything let alone breaking rules, mark is not the fancy stuff kinda guy imho

  • @custardpiekashmir you must be deaf then ahahaha..he is very much fancy when he gets on his guitar hahaha

  • @dergrossen

    i must be then :)

  • @custardpiekashmir nah you are just younger....if you were an old dude like me you would have known...hahhaha

  • @dergrossen

or it could be, that we both have different ideas of what fancy stuff is?

  • @custardpiekashmir Good point YES. Fancy stuff in this context would be MK breaking away on the melody...this song to my ear does not need any further additions. So the word FANCY in this context would be MK imposing another harmony or parallel harmony delayed or other to this song. The song is a classic and MK does not see to mess with it.

  • @dergrossen

    apparently mark agrees then ;)

i wouldn't consider something like that fancy, but if you define such as fancy i agree :)

  • @custardpiekashmir Well MK and EC are very good buddies socially....there is no way MK would intervene on this song that would lessen EC's playing.

  • also i got moneys

  • i think the pic of Mark was only of him smoking a cig...nothing inappropriate about that!!!

  • ITSABOUTJESUS

  • DONTDODOPESTUPID

  • Im sure i heard the Intro in a porn movie once?

  • where's the bass solo :(

  • cocaine dirty shit

  • Always and also for all times incredbles

  • what a great album ocean blvd was when it came out

  • Blackie sounds great!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @vjpdcg

...erm... it's a dark green strat...

  • @stinkycheesefoot maybe, but in my (old) screen I saw it black. Sorry

  • @vjpdcg Are you sure it's Blackie? If this show was really in '88, Blackie was already retired.

Also, I don't see the wear marks nor the cigarette burns on the neck. The quality of the video doesn't help though.

  • @mauronr It's a Clapton signature Strat with 3 gold Lace Sensor pickups. I think it's Pewter Gray.

  • @s2seltaeb True! I hadn't noticed the pickups. And the color, depending on how the lights are, it indeed look black and sometimes gray. But it's definitely not Blackie. Thanks for replying.

  • From here, will have to go get some CREAM.

  • Throw Steve Howe and Carlos into the mix and you would have Nirvana. All the other great guitarists I can think of are gone to Heaven.

  • Saw this tour. Knopfler said he was still learning by listening to Clapton. Masters both.

  • No Knopfler solo? What were they thinking? Might have been the blow!

  • Give bieber some cocaine

  • I love how mark knopfler is playing the intro for 'No Can Do' one of his own songs doing the intro :D

This number just sends chills down your spine!

  • i like the faster version more . but this is nice anyway!

  • I would like to see Mark Knopfler submit Lady gaga in a music battle. Knopfler was on the coke in the 80's, right? Like in their classic live gigs?

  • @supahslime noo.. that was clapton. for knopfler it was a little bit of drinking.

  • @DonTheTurtleDude i beg to differ, mark knopfler was never one for excessive alcohol consumption or drug taking. He celebrated after his gigs with a cup of tea. the man's a fucking legend and a great idol for aspiring new guitarists. Which for me sets him apart from the rest of the musicians of his time.

  • @Cushniee i never ment to say he was a drunk, drug taking shame. he said it himself in an interview, im sure you can find it.. he DID say that in the height of his fame, he had problems with drinking. i dont mean to misquote him. and dont get me wrong, i think he's amazing too.

  • @Cushniee True

  • @Cushniee True

  • yeah I don't know what the purpose was of that picture in this vid of Mark but I don't think he ever touched any drugs so piss on that interjection. Mark don't deserve that sorta treatmentt. He's a good guy and always will be.

  • @Cushniee

dead right there. So modest 300 plus compositions and counting, helping budding musos Played with anybody who is, was anybody, here he is playing second, thats is his style, never one to grab headlines. A wonderful man, look up INTERVIEWS MK

  • My nostrils remain virginal yet my ears need this kind of coke rush. It will be in the divine hit list in heaven. Knopfler is definetly in the Lord's fav band.

  • Two styles, mashed up, it is so smooth, so fulfilling, it is hot biscuits and chicken gravy, with a side of pecan pie, don't get better than that, chile.

  • I wish this song had come out in the late '60s... but then, we didn't *have* much in the way of cocaine back in the late '60s. All we had was reefer and LSD. Bummer.

  • Pop kiddies come and go, here today, gone tomorrow, but the great bands are forever!

  • Give the keyboardplayer a hammond organ for god's sake.

  • IZVRSNO

  • orgasmus fürs gehör!

  • Both these guys owe half of their salary to JJ :)

  • 100 people are on cocaine

  • clapton and knopfler for president

  • E(P)IC CLAPTON!!

  • @490spankz E(P)IC CLAPTON & MARK KNOWLEDGE

  • They are The Brothers in Arms: His arms are two guitars :D

  • Knopfler & Clapton are gods.

  • the gods of guitar. hell yeahhh

  • @cryostation JJ Cale is the man.

  • @AndyMayBee YES he is, and cheers!!

  • @cryostation Sometimes it bugs me that JJ Cale doesn't get the credit he deserves, he's the man behind songs like "Cocaine", "After Midnight" ( Clapton) , "Sensitive Kind" ( Santana), "Call Me the Breeze", "The Same Old Blues" ( Lynyrd Skynyrd ). People just don't know him, a much more influential musician than say Clapton.

Check out these: JJ Cale: Money Talks, Cloudy Day, Magnolia, Don't Cry Sister etc. Just fantastic music. God playing there, no running competition. :)

  • @AndyMayBee well u got to remember people need a face and a name, people need some charismatic people friendly hero. and usually alot of talented people are not that good looking or charismatic, and they may hate people. its just how fame work

  • @cryostation I guess JJ Cale doesn't care about the fame that much and wants just to live a simple and easygoing life, that's what he's writing his songs about anyhow: ..." I can' t read and I can't write, I don't know my left from right", but ... : I'll Make Love To You Anytime :) - check out these too: J.J. Cale - A Thing Going On, Call the Doctor, Lies. I don't even believe in God, but to me his songs are the nearest thing to a God playing the guitar.

  • @AndyMayBee good for you my friend. thats what music is all about. there are two types of music, music for the general public, and music for musicians. im sure clapton recognises jj cale for his talent, but ordinary people probably dont get it. thats bec to be a musician you have a far better musical taste than ordinary people

  • @cryostation ordinary people pr most of the people listen to pop/party music...and enjoys it...they dont know what they are missing.

  • @qnion its strange how mass appeal works. i havent taken many courses in sociology since thats not my fav subject, but from my observation. good music can be mass appealing, but a very small percentage of it. for example for an ordinary joe shmo, or jane shmo, they can listen to crap or great music, and they will think both of those are great. but for a person with refined musical taste, it is easy to distinguish between crap and great music

  • @cryostation I agree..for instance pop stars like Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber: they dont make the greatest music or anything close to it. Just because they are popular and are made-star and their lyrics are more appealing to their fans make them believe their icon produce great music, or something like that...

  • boom like that it's on can't say any more

  • boom like that it's on

  • those 100 people had no luck scoring cocaine

  • who are the 100 idiots that don't like this music?!

  • @patrickfrombelgium maybe u find it as a bootleg. the version of the one i have exists only in my place, Brazil. But, as i said, it may be a bootleg, and being a bootleg you can find it everywhere... the DVD/bootleg is called Eric Clapton - Live After Midnight, and was recorded in 1986, if i'm not wrong... and Knopfler toured the whole tour w/ Clapton.... Hope i have helped in some way!

  • 0:00 0:35 sec RIDE ACROSS THE RIVER!

  • Why do people keep saying Clapton is a racist? 9 out of 10 times he got a black bassist!

  • @Pokerwezep Hah, as if having a black man working for you makes it impossible to be a racist. That doesn't make sense. Eric is a great player and may be a great person for all I know. But he also publicly called for ethnic cleansing. And he's been stupid enough to stand by those comments up to today (as recently as last year in public statements). Anyone that does that deserves to be called out on it.

  • @Pokerwezep reminds me of that south park episode where cartman makes a band haha

  • lol at mark knoplfer 1:50 cheeky bastard :D

  • @Cushniee LOL :D

  • @sumindiandude he's a total legend though :D

  • @Cushniee yeah! :D

  • No comment. 1*

  • Clapton & Knopfler should have a child. For MUSIC.

  • @nana1lala2papa3gugu4

at 7:02 the were quite close enough.. ;)

  • @TheCycress do you want an anal-child ^^

  • @TheMrPDSF

If it can play a fusion music of them, why not?? :D

  • @nana1lala2papa3gugu4

And the godfather will be Chris Rea

  • @nana1lala2papa3gugu4 And Sting would be baby sitter :D

  • @nana1lala2papa3gugu4 They'd have to move to NY or Iowa. Your idea isn't bad, but it would have to involve mitosis.

    Tom

  • @nana1lala2papa3gugu4 They have. I think they named it "Blues Rock".

  • 2:55 Mark Knopfler lookin badass

  • The beginning of this version ended up being the riff of a song from Golden Heart called No Can Do.

  • 2:05 into the beginning is the best part.

  • its amazing that j j cale has two kids eric and mark playing one of his best song ever,,, lucky daddy

  • Go to YouTube and Search RORMAN and see many Videos of Harlan Rorman and Dane Rorman playing Music.

  • nigga slappin' dat bass n shit.

  • Musician Harlan Rorman here. Go to YouTube and Search RORMAN and see many Videos of Harlan and Dane Rorman playing Music.

  • STEVE FERRONE!!!!! :D

  • AMAZING PERFORMANCE!

  • This is EPIC, Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton two of the best guitar players in the world!

  • Simply the most powerful guitar player on earth. His soul streams to his fingers. Amazing.

  • @supertlsmith The great thing about this video is that I can't be sure who youre talking about. Although its probably Clapton

  • These guys really had a lot of fun playing together. You can plainly see that on Clapton's face. Mark, Eric and the bassist all got into the keyboard riff. Loved the way they were grooving with it.

  • what was the point of knopfler being there?...he could of easily matched Clapton & has a better tone

  • @manboobmatty123

    they r friends

  • This is one of the greatest guitar solos EVER!
