Sampras, Krajicek and Stich were all strong and fluid. But Pete was able to be healthy for most of his career. Mentally, he was the toughest of the 3. They were all fun to watch.
It's a pity Krajicek didn't win more Grand Slams than just Wimbledon. He really had a splendid cannon serve. Nevetheless, it really hurt to Sampras that moment when his coach/mentor, Tim Gullickson, passed away because he wanted to pay him a tribute for a great person he was.
Would be great if you could post the h/l from the ATP Masters Stuttgart 98 where he won steamrolling Agassi Ivanisevic Sampras and Kafelnikov back to back in straight sets while beating Sampras despite the American hitting more aces than him.
TBH the title of the vid suggests a kind of sarcasm at Krajicek. IMO he was the most purely talented player of the 90s gen. Like with Sampras his greatest weapon was his serve. Like with Sampras his next greatest weapon was his forehand. Like Sampras he had a superb running forehand. Like Sampras he had a good all-court game. So many similarities that end there. Unlike Sampras though he had neither the will nor the heart or the relatively injury-free career.
@ARKN06 krajicek was a great player. On a good day nearly unbeatable but he clearly had too many bad days and a lot of injuries. He surely could have won a couple of more slams, but it wasn't to be....I'm from holland and i will never forget wimbledon and his victory over Sampras :-)
Prime Krajicek had a 6-2 h2h against Sampras at his peak. Had Krajicek played every year the way he did in 96 at the Wimby Fed would be chasing 8 Wimbies of Krajicek. He was the player I enjoyed watching most in my teens in the 90s after my childhood heroes Becker and Edberg went past their primes after 90-92. With the pre-Sampras gen burnout by end-92, Stich, Krajicek and Agassi should have stepped up. Stich played part-time, Krajicek was injured most of the time, Agassi was all over the place.
The only problem is, both players didn't return serve very well and had no enrgy to return so aces were coming easily, hence the reason the match could never finish.
Krajicek hit 49 aces against a top class opponent and Grand Slam champion (Australia that year)
Krajicek is one of my favourite players of all time. I was thinking of uploading something against Agassi from the 1998 Canadian Open or against Edberg from the 1996 Italian Open.
I saw Krajicek play veterans with Stich at Wimbledon last month:
a) he looks almost the same as 10 years ago!
b) he was hitting serves at 136mph! We were sitting in the corner seats, one of his serves hit my friend in the stomach, he never even apologized! :-)

@ARKN06
The title of the video suggests no sarcasm - I was having a bit of fun with the title.

@ARKN06 Couldn't agree more. I hate it when people say today's era is the greatest.

Yes.... They hit over 100 aces against eachother.

Kafelnikov has said that Krajicek's serve was one of the hardest serves to read and return.

What about that AO against agassi where Joaquin Johansson got 51 aces off of agassi? That was huge too.
