Does anyone else realize that Huckabee only comments on his beliefs of evolution only when asked by people who want him to have a weak response? It's not like the man shouts out, "Oh my gosh everyone! Believe what I believe and if you don't, you're going to hell!" He's a pretty open-minded person and just because he follows what the bible tells us, does not mean he'd make a bad president. I think people are more comfortable with a religious man in office.

Good point. Its also a tactic the mainstream media hopes to use; to make Huckabee look like a religious fanatic, since all he talks about is religion. Thats why, Huckabee is smart, if u notice, he always has a comment before he answers the question. Making it clear that THEY are the ones asking him the religious questions.

Do you know that back when our country was founded the bible was esteemed by our government as one of the greatest books of all time. George Washington especailly was a man who constantly read his bible and I wouldn't be surprised if he quoted it alot as well. I'm not saying our founding fathers were all Christian, but there respect for the bible was incredibly high. But maybe you would rather deny history.

but in the deist section there were : George washington, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin. the three most important founding fathers in terms of influence.

I think you need to do some research. Yes Thomas Jefferson was a diest, yes Franklin was a diest. I don't deny that. I quite frankly don't know what books you study from. But many of them talk highly about the bible. You are totally missing my point

That still doesn't indicate rape... but actually Huckabee did extremely well considering how little money he had, and a lot of people, whether democrat or republican, respect him. He won the states of Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, and Louisiana. I might be wrong but He think he also won the states of Tenessee and Kentucky. That's pretty darn good for some one who at the begining of his campaign was 1% in the polls. I wouldn't be surprised if he does even better if he runs again

But then again that's not really my point. My point is when someone quotes scripture like "God created the heavens and the earth"... who cares? That doesn't mean you have to believe and God... That doesn't mean he's going to force anyone to believe in God... How many times do you hear people quote the "violent" passages of the bible?

Well I have read the bible and bits of the Koran... first of all there is no where in the scriptures where God orders the raping of virgin women... that's bull crap... secondly whole thing on slaughtering tribes is one sided... many of these tribes offered up there children as sacrifices to pagan Gods. There was so much evil that God used the israelites to wipe them out...then the Israelites themselves began to participate in evil parctices like this were also punished by the invasion of babylon

I guess I don't exactly understand the point... Huckabee tried as hard as he could to get not talk about religion during his campaign, however, people often inqured about his faith since he was a former Baptist minister. Because so many people inquired, ofcourse he had a right to say what he believed. Seriously I think your big stink about this whole thing is down right stupid... if you actually read the bible there are alot of good concepts in it that people can respect without being Christian

Thomas Jefferson, one of our greatest political minds and presidents, proposed a separation of church and state because politicians try and wrap themselves in God and say disagreeing with them is heresy. If some people would read a little further back, they'd see that the King of England, and every other Monarch tried to claim divine authority as justification for their tyranny. There's nothing wrong with faith, but many conservatives are using it as a weapon just like Jefferson warned against.

there is no seperation of church and state clause in the constitution nor declaration of independence, infact religion is not mentioned in the orginal part of the constitution. it is mentioned in first amendment to the constitution "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. this has nothing to do with seperation of church and state it is to protect the church from being taken over by the state.
