@00Billy - No, Leno screws over Carson by putting rumors of early retirement in the press, sweet talks the affiliates, and he pushes Letterman out AGAINST Carson's wishes. He wanted Dave. Leno didn't care, fired all of Carson's people, didn't thank Carson on his first show and that is why Johnny never appeared on the tonight show ever again - but he did go on Dave's show several times, and he gave him jokes till the end.

Let me see if I understand this. The ratings at the Tonight show were falling, with Jay. So, NBC came up with this great idea to move Jay to 10pm to boost the ratings there, which would boost the ratings for the local news which in turn would boost the ratings for the Tonight Show with Conan. It sounds good, but the problem seems to be that the writers for Jay Leno..."SUCK". Which brought down the ratings for the news and the Tonight Show. Their solution, fire Conan. CBS 3, NBC 0. Dave wins.

I watched last night's episode of the Jay Leno show and found out that NBC had planned on getting rid The Tonight Show with Jay Leno back in 2004 actually, and that was why he initially wanted to retire. Of course he changed his mind later. I can't believe NBC actually went through with that. Leno was 1st place on the ratings for like 12 straight years and he still was right before NBC replaced him with Conan.

I like Conan more, but what NBC did was really dumb.
