  • I love that scene where he's at the airport waiting for his flight and his guitar is next to him. The look of the room, I can almost smell the stale, hear the quiet. Someone comes thru the door and everyone turns and looks. Someone back in the kitchen drops a spatula.

  • Glen Campbell is the voice of Main Street America

  • Witchita lineman what a great original video

  • this song is perfection.

  • wow, that's a really a very cool video. I mean promo flick,

  • this is so good to see.great song and certainly a great singer, musician, and damn talented individual.glen campbell is a true entertainer and troubador.check him out with stone temple pilots doing this song.almost 35 years later and he is better than ever!

  • Very Chilled song, definately one for the road, listen and drift away (just as long as you're not the one driving that is)

  • I love the 'I need you more than want you and i want you for all time' greatest line in a song...

  • LOL--Glenn Campbell were hothothot during the Nixon years!! :D

  • glen had that thing

  • 1:39-1:58 is my favorite part!! Thanks God my dad was raised in the country and showed me this music!

  • @NawticJ i was raised in brooklyn ny and as a child this was one of my favorite songs. ;)...

  • Such a good song.

Reminds me of when I was 5 and my folks had parties.

    Sniff ;-(

    Bring those days back

  • Great song

  • And some people probably think music videos originated in the '80's.

  • @cairored If only we could go back and start it all over again!! It's nice to have music that leaves you with such precious memories..:-)

  • Never fails to make my heart ache to want to go back in time. Being a young girl, Sunday mornings sitting with my sisters in our kitchen, Mum cooking sunday roast, radio on...the radio was always on. I think it's why I love music so much...music was everywhere in my house, and this song takes me right back there.

  • way back yonder before that sassy hussy Tanya Tucker got 'im hooked on the cocaine!

  • "And I need you more than want you" Whew!...

  • One of my all time favorites! Such a haunting melody. Definitely thought provoking.

  • 1968, where, oh where, have the years gone? I fell in love with this the 1st time I heard it; Al De Lory's masterful arrangement turned Jimmy Webb's mournful tune into an all-time classic. Wolfsky9

  • sounding melancholic...can't help thinking of "midnight cowboy"...

  • quality....

  • My all time fave record, bar none.

    Super duper posting. Thanks!

  • What a cool guy! Ashame oldies stations don't play this anymore.

  • Around 1:11-1:23 I think that is Hale House in Heritage Square, Los Angeles! Nice!

  • Glen Campbell shall get the day he deserves.. what a great vocal and so hot too.

  • Ace

  • There should be laws forbidding REM to cover this song.

  • first class.. thanx for the video

  • best. song. ever.

  • The bit where they go into the photo booth is real cool. The photos never age.

  • Why is Glen Campbell not given the respect the far inferior (musically and vocally) Man in Black has been given?

  • They are both great, just different styles.

  • a step back in time great upload thanks

  • That is so cool! :)

  • I like the Cadillac convertible at 1:24 which recaptures the freedom of the era. This entire dream-like sequence in its deteriorated state, and a slight warble in the audio, now adds another dimension looking back to a distant memory as a cocreative process. In other words, the song and video also relate to our own experiences. To me it's a reminder how romance was. The lyrics. and Campbell's evocative vocal have always made this song a favorite of mine... and this wonderful video!

  • You put my feelings into words perfectly. I hope you don't mind if I repost your comment on my facebook? :)

  • very cool , never saw that one.

  • Fantastic...brings back childhood memorys of growing up in the seventies..

  • mystic transport back to the 60s

  • Wonderful piece of americana! much thanks.....

  • coolitababy this is real

    ly good

  • just about the greatest pop song i ever heard.

  • The greatest pop song I've ever heard. Jimmy Webb and Glen Campbell were fireworks together. I love the decayed look of the old promotional film. Coupled with the poignancy of the song, it feels like the fading of a happy memory. Do you have the complete promo, coolitababy, or does the copy you have end abruptly as shown here?

  • It more or less ends there.

  • @demonswoop You just uttered two magical words Jimmy Webb!

  • @demonswoop Love that bass guitar...beautiful

  • coolitababy - I like your name. It makes me think of an iced coffee drink we have here from Dunkin Donuts called Coolatta.

  • Thanks, petmama. It was actually a typo...maybe I should learn to like it too.

  • @coolitababy cootitababy is best name

    on yt

  • Thank you so much for this promo. I was 16 in 1969 and this song was and is the best.

  • You're welcome. Thanks for your comment.

  • How can he cheat on that cute girl...

  • He thinks the 2nd one is cuter. That's life!

  • Does anyone know the name of the girl with the short hair?

  • It's Griselda

    .

  • Did you just pick that name, or is Griselda for real?

  • I just picked it, but you never know.

  • After some investigation I've found that indeed her name was Griselda. There you go. Uncanny. In fact she's known in her hometown in Iowa as 'Griselda from the original Wichita Lineman promo'. She doesn't mind as she quite still likes the song.

  • If you get the chance, could you check if the other girl is called Ethel?

  • nice post!

  • Love this vid!

  • This is just Timeless.

    Story of our lives.

  • On a recent BBC radio interview Robbie Williams said that this was his favourite song of all time. Mine too actually.

  • My all-time favorite song as well, but who is Robbie Williams!???

  • Exactly!

  • Love this one,Glen's got a beautiful voice.thanks for posting.

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • Really enjoyed this. Thanks!

  • Actually, I have a version of Glenn singing McArthur Park

  • I played Glen's greatest hits CD EVERY Saturday morning when doing the housework. My 22 year-old son can sing every word of this song. Probably the only kid in his age group to do so. Beautiful. Keep it coming ...

  • This has become one of my fave songs of all-time, it's so evocative.
