I love that scene where he's at the airport waiting for his flight and his guitar is next to him. The look of the room, I can almost smell the stale, hear the quiet. Someone comes thru the door and everyone turns and looks. Someone back in the kitchen drops a spatula.
this is so good to see.great song and certainly a great singer, musician, and damn talented individual.glen campbell is a true entertainer and troubador.check him out with stone temple pilots doing this song.almost 35 years later and he is better than ever!
high lonesome country at its best. one of the most haunting songs ever written. the emotion and wanting are as big as the plains landscape the lineman is perched above. amazing poetry & dead on delivery to the meaning of the song. campbells highwater mark.
Never fails to make my heart ache to want to go back in time. Being a young girl, Sunday mornings sitting with my sisters in our kitchen, Mum cooking sunday roast, radio on...the radio was always on. I think it's why I love music so much...music was everywhere in my house, and this song takes me right back there.
1968, where, oh where, have the years gone? I fell in love with this the 1st time I heard it; Al De Lory's masterful arrangement turned Jimmy Webb's mournful tune into an all-time classic. Wolfsky9
I like the Cadillac convertible at 1:24 which recaptures the freedom of the era. This entire dream-like sequence in its deteriorated state, and a slight warble in the audio, now adds another dimension looking back to a distant memory as a cocreative process. In other words, the song and video also relate to our own experiences. To me it's a reminder how romance was. The lyrics. and Campbell's evocative vocal have always made this song a favorite of mine... and this wonderful video!
The greatest pop song I've ever heard. Jimmy Webb and Glen Campbell were fireworks together. I love the decayed look of the old promotional film. Coupled with the poignancy of the song, it feels like the fading of a happy memory. Do you have the complete promo, coolitababy, or does the copy you have end abruptly as shown here?
After some investigation I've found that indeed her name was Griselda. There you go. Uncanny. In fact she's known in her hometown in Iowa as 'Griselda from the original Wichita Lineman promo'. She doesn't mind as she quite still likes the song.
I played Glen's greatest hits CD EVERY Saturday morning when doing the housework. My 22 year-old son can sing every word of this song. Probably the only kid in his age group to do so. Beautiful. Keep it coming ...

Why is Glen Campbell not given the respect the far inferior (musically and vocally) Man in Black has been given?
