  • Best. Dad. Ever.

  • *Feels the need to hug Kurt and let him cry*

  • I was so mad at Finn for like ever, until the wedding episode

  • I thought the room was beautiful... Wow Finn. Just wow. Douche much?

  • I could watch this scene over and over and never get tired of it.

  • Kurt and Burt, the father son duo :)

  • This is the best thing ever. Calling someone "faggy" or "retarded" when you mean it as something is "stupid". I want to kick so many peoples teeth in for calling things that. I have slipped, "retard" but that was an accident, i can hold myself down 99.9% of the time other than that. UGH people are so homophobic and mean.

  • There needs to be more Burt Hummels in this world

  • This is one of my favourite Glee scenes ever. Burt is the best

  • I hated finn forever after this I cant take the word fag

If my friends say he such a fag i will actually go off on them like completely snap!Even my guy friends(im a girl)

One time I was talking with em and they were like ya he throws like a fag and I lost it

I still think hes scared of me and he is double my size and has maybe 70 pounds on me

I have no tolerance for people who are against gays or think its wrong or a sin

I just dont have the time

Im not lezbian, not tht kno,but my strong belifs

  • I cried watching this scene for the first time. so touching. what a great dad. standing up for his son. I HATE that word . "fag" its so offensive, and finn should've known better. I give this episode 5 stars. best. episode. ever.

  • j.k rowling did an example in her books and a lesson that will stay with me, Dudley was raised to hate harry and to hate magic/wizards he went along with that, bullied harry, hurt him, got him in trouble that made him feel powerful, doing what he was raised to do. the last words from Dudley mouth were "i don't think your a waste of space" showing that even if your raised to believe something , you have control over your mind and what you think and you don't have to agree with your parents

  • There is this girl in my grade who just recently came out, and nobody has been rude to her about it ( from what I know) and she calls things that she thinks are stupid "gay" and she thinks it is ok. It is so annoying

  • the best scene ever :D

  • The dad was a bit to hard...and I'm gay. lol

  • I wish Burt was my father. Oh I wanted to jump in the tv and fuck Finn up when he said that.

  • Go Burt! Best Father Ever :)

  • Burt is the most AWESOME dad ever!!!

  • whitch episode is that ?

  • @halloihrgirl Theatricality

  • I still sometimes say "You are so gay" or "that is so gay" but I am trying to teach myself to say stupid. I used to say gay so often but now I have a gay friend and I am trying to get out of the habbit cause I know it's unfair,

  • Nice!!!!

  • You kno, some people will never understand or choose not to and we can't blame them. Depending on how one was raised is what they grow up believing in. I don't hate gay people but the things that they do is something I wont accept. I have gay friends don't get me wrong, but the way I've been raised is different.

  • @koolaidkendra Having gay friends doesn't exempt you from being a homophobe. Just putting that out there.

  • The character of Burt Hummel is that of an exemplary father and as a bisexual twenty-eight year old racked with insecurity, I wish my father was more like Burt.

  • i bet he doesn't know wat faggot means

  • idk why being gay is still a big issue in todays society havent people grown at all i think that they should teach this stuff in schools people need to be educated about it so they kno that theres nothing to be ashamed of and that it is a natural thing. i never had an issue with gay people it was just a thing ya kno people can love who they want to but they should definitly teach this subject to children so people kno its ok to be gay

  • i was so disappointed with Finn in this episode, it was a great episode and kudos to Burt. but i felt Kurt did not own up to his faults until his dad confronted him about it the next season. "You weren't so innocent either, Kurt" - Mr. Hummel. Kurt manipulated the situation, but no matter what happens u don't do what Finn did, so uncalled for.

  • @aeris44 I totally agree with you! Obviously what Finn in this episode was wrong, but Kurt did try to manipulate him as well. And in a sense, I'm actually glad that they portrayed the effects of homophobia on the show. It really shed a lot of light on the issue, especially for young kids. It's just too bad that homophobes use the argument that "being gay is unnatural". Well what I say to them is take a biology course or philosophy of sex and prepare to have your mind blown.

  • @TinaB1990 I don't in any way think it's ok to blurt out faggy like he did, but I would have blown up on him too, Kurt has no limits. Basically, it should have been an argument about privacy, not sexuality. Unfortunately thats the first place ppl go: gender, race, and orientation. Sad. But someday Ill be able to hate Kurt and not have ppl think its because he's gay. Idc if he's gay, or even effeminate, I just hate how he's a rude little douche to everyone and thinks its ok

  • @DannyPolDiaz You're right; there is absolutely nothing wrong with disliking a particular person based on their personality. My problem is when people start generalizing and hating on people without even really getting to know them, as well. The sad thing is if there were more people actually getting to know each other before judging one another, they might be friends.

  • Earlier on this year, I did a powerpoint on awareness of what homophobia could cause and on LGBT people etc. It shocked me a little to know that some of the homophobic people in my class didn't even know what homophobia was. I have a girlfriend and we're not afraid to show public displays of affection, even though we get weird looks and stuff.

  • Burt has to be 1 of the best written & best acted characters in the entire series. Hes so 3-dimensional & Mike O'Malleys so talented. This scene always gets to me. U can tell how much it hurts him to kick Finn out but he says it best. FAMILY COMES 1ST & thats what this moment comes down to: FAMILY

Families are all different. No family is perfect, but at the end of the day they're all you have & they're who u can lean on & count on for support, even in those unexpected moments, just like this.

  • @:15 kurts face: oh fuck.

  • If Blaine were here.... oh man.... Finn, YOU WERE DEAD! He knows Boxing! ....(and is SO FUCKING HOT!)

  • What episode is this?!

  • ill admit i use that word but i never thought about it like that i use it like idiot or stupid im not homophobic but i wouldnt use the word in front of someone who is gay. i dont think finn meant it that way he was just under alot of pressure and i could see the guilt on his face it was very well acted out:p

  • @MrTailsprower7 Same here :( even if I don't use that word anymore, it makes me feel awful to know that I used it without knowing how hurtful and full of hate is..

  • i was talking to the blanket lol

  • The writers and producers of this show must have had a hell of a time scripting and recording this scene. It's one of the most powerful scenes in the whole series, if you ask me.

  • @krisgkupkakes Retard, Gay, Faggot, Nigger, Spick, Chink, Wonderbread, Kike, Words hurt? Cry me a river dude, if you are seriously anally devastated by them then it shows that you have yet to grow up. LIKE OMG IT HURTS MY FEELINGS, grow up...If you wanna know what really hurts try to withstand an explosion or getting stabbed or shot at...That's real pain, Don't let your emotions control your rational thought, because in retrospective they are just words and that's all they will ever be

  • @mrblueyish Most likely half the population is butthurt over such words, it's pathetic. If people honestly use it to exert their hatred onto others that is indeed wrong but that's where those who "wallow in self-pity" take to the extreme sometimes, which I fear because stupidity is the dominant force instead of intellect. Let's say they ban these words, okay fine, people got butthurt, but then all of a sudden, let's ban all negative words, like idiot, black, moron, small eyes, etc.

  • @c133isgod

I don't think so. Words with stigmas attached deserve special consideration, because they are the words that can unite and disunite people in irrational 'clans'.

It's not stupid that people are hurt by such things. It's quite easy to see why it can be frightening that one 'is these things' to others. Most people require lots of effort to overcome their insecurities. That's not an unreasonable need. Such words just impede these efforts.

  • @c133isgod I think you are mistaken. Words, simple words can do more damage than explosions, stabbings, or shootings. You can heal from those wounds, and go on. Words especially from someone you care about, thought was a friend or is family can get lodged in you and they linger. Even when you think you have let them go they can dig at you. Words, just simple words, ultimately caused the deaths of over 10 million people during the Holocaust. Words are never simple.

  • I'm someone who doesn't really believe in homosexuality, but I can say that it is absolutely awful that people are bullied, (and in most other parts of the world) arrested or even killed because of their sexuality. God loves everyone and everything- gay, straight, white, black, purple, yellow.

  • @AlfredtheGreat95 Personally, I don't believe in gravity. Yet, for some reason, stuff still falls.

  • @fileboy2002 Nice :)

  • @fileboy2002 Nice

  • @fileboy2002 hahaha, im stealing that! :P

  • Man, i'm straight and female, but if anybody did that to me, my dad would walk in there with a gun and a bat and say "Pick."

  • In the words of Eminem:

    Don't fuck with dad.

  • I wish I had Burt as a dad

  • I <3 Glee

  • damn he really should of got sumtin for this scene

  • lol "place looks great" haha wow what a cool father :)

  • GO BURT!!

  • Wow. 0:24-0:29. Just listen to the pain in Burt's voice. So emotional.

  • Best dad ever? Please. If Burt was such a good dad he would've taken the time to get to know his kid enough to see through his blatent manipulations and call him out on it. I mean plenty of so-so parents would have risen to the occasion if it was called for. And I think this was pretty uncalled for. So Finn blew his top and maybe used the wrong choice of words but he was being sexually harassed. Besides, when Burt admits to using that word when he was young his argument loses all credibility.

  • @ionadelfina When Burt's character was young, gay rights weren't really there. 40 something years ago, people didn't care as much. And Finn was being hit on, not sexually harassed. If a lesbian hits on a girl, thats called hitting on/flirting, not sexually harassed. I'm 100% that you're either a homophobe or in the closet.

  • @SymphoniaFan101 I am most certainly NOT a homophobe. My mother is a lesbian and I've marched in the Pride Parade for the last two years. You should'nt just throw that word around. Coming onto someone after they have repeatedly expressed disinterest is sexual harassment. Look it up.

  • @ionadelfina If you aren't, then you should be able to be happy for Kurt's character that his dad is so accepting of him. Some parents throw their kids out of their homes because of coming out. I'm really amazed that you would act that way if you really do support gay rights. Burt shouldn't correct his kid for trying to hit on someone he likes. Remember, at this point, he doesn't know any gay people and he liked Finn. What Finn said is called harrasement. He's making fun of Kurt. Please be done.

  • @SymphoniaFan101 I would really like to be done but I have to say this. Do you really support Gay Rights? It's about equality not giving someone special treatment because they are gay. That is a form of discrimination. Kurt insinuated himself into Finn's life by manipulating their parents into having a relationship and then having Finn share a room with him. The bottom line is that if Kurt were a straight guy and Finn a girl, he would've never gotten that far. It's discrimination.

  • @ionadelfina He didn't really have that much on a crush on Finn. And Kurt is also trying to get Finn to accept him. Remember, Finn used to be a bully at school before Glee Club. Btw, like 90% of my friends are at least bi, a lot are lesbians. (I'm a guy)

  • @SymphoniaFan101 He did have a crush from day on. You need to watch these episodes again if you can honestly say that. Also, Finn was accepting of Kurt BEFORE he started trying to turn him gay and ruin his life.

If you didn't notice, I don't like Kurt and I am seriously tired of being called a homophobe, by people who don't know me at all, because I am doing the most tolerant thing and that is judging him for his awful personality and not simply excusing his behavior because he is gay.

  • Burt is one of my favourite characters on Glee,

Although he isn't one of the kids, i think he's one of the strongest characters.

  • Im sorry but I agreed with fin at the time. Kurt is gay. Finn freaking isn't and kurt knew that. He knew that his room was decorated for a girl or a gay and Finn just had to deal with that. That isn't fair. The choice of words finn made, weren't the best.. but come on kurt.

  • @koek1122 There is no gay style, All gays are not flamboyant they all have different likes and personalities

  • dont mess with da hummels :)))

  • Greatest speech I've ever heard!

  • so fucking gay. most fags i met don't care about the word fag

  • he is right being gay isnt wrong there just like stragight people but with different taste

  • Don't fuck with Burt.

  • Burt is one freaking awesome father. I love him in every scene!

  • It makes me so incredibly sad to hear people use the term faggot or queer to call someone stupid. I'm in high school, so that's all I hear all day, every day. I just wish that people had common sense to know that being gay is okay and that it's not a punishable offense. For heaven's sake, samurai used to openly have male lovers all the time.

  • I didn't hear what Burt said before "not under my roof." Please help out. Thanks!

  • @Dudj3 Out in the world you do what you want, not under my roof

  • @Dudj3 "Out in the world you do what you want not under my roof."

  • I love Burt :)

  • Oh my creys..

  • Ha homophobe got owned. :)

  • It is fucked up that Kurt spends the entire episode trying to pull his prospective step-brother

  • I understand where Burt is coming from but I mean Finn did apologize and I honestly think Finn meant it!

  • My guitar teacher is gay and my CLASSMATES make fun of him! I'm seriously ready to do what Kurt's father did! I did yell at them today. Mr. P (not going to put his whole name on here) is a GREAT teacher. Just because he likes guys does NOT mean he's a bad person.

  • @musicvideomaker1996 You are so great! there are lots of people who says that they are against homophobia, but are too cowards to actually act on their words and defend gay people. Congratulations :)

  • @PolliitoAle Thanks. It bugs the crap out of me. These people act differently around gays, bisexuals, and transgenders JUST because they're being who they are. I hate that.

  • @musicvideomaker1996 Same here :( once, I was talking about Glee with my mom and she said that it was a little weird they had that many gay people in the show and when I asked why, she told me "'couse people could think is normal". All I could do is look at her and said "but it IS normal. Love is love". I never felt so... ashamed of my mom :(

  • @PolliitoAle it actually isn't normal to many ppl and that is okay, u shouldn't feel ashamed just cuz she doesnt think like you, the best u can do is spread ur knowledge. Being gay isn't normal to her and to many ppl and she's right. But it doesn't mean its wrong :)

  • In all seriousness, does this gay guy HAVE to act like the sterotypical gay guy?

High voice, loose wrist gestures, pouting ect.

  • @91megamatt thats who he is. he isnt acting through his mannerisms. he has a high voice naturally. and honestly, it shouldn't matter! he is who he is, and it doesn't matter that he is. effeminate. focus on his character's personality instead of things he cannot change about himself.

  • @Glozboy22

Are you seriously going to be an ass about this? If you don't like the show, unlike most of us commenting, then GO AWAY!

  • is it wrong, kurt's dad is my sexual fantasy????

  • @JansRox Yes.

  • @ionadelfina then I'm a sinner!

  • What episode is this again? furt?

  • @thefallen2124 I think this one is "Theatricality" but I could be wrong

  • This was a pretty faggy scene.

  • @theivyleaguer Your self hatred amuses me. Why don't you go troll another video? kthanxbai.

  • @theivyleaguer I shouldn't have laughed, I shouldn't have...but I did, :3

    Epic Win.

  • FOUR FOR YOU BURT! YOU GO BURT!

  • Finn, stop using the f word... Asshole.

  • I so wish people would stop using the words fag gay and retarded to call somthing stupid i mean its freakin offenseive (i knw i spelled that rong lol) man it just aint rite

  • @MementoMori54 No problem! You're welcome ;D

  • No matter how many times I watch this scene I still cry. Best glee episode ever.

  • Hilary Duff does this speech better in my opinion

  • I wish my dad said something like this to my brother when what he needed most was a father, instead of throwing him out. Glee shows people that being gay is okay, and that people need to learn to accept it. <3

  • @MementoMori54 it's episode 1x20, Theatricality.

  • Can anyone tell me the name of this episode? I've seemed to forgotten it!!

  • Go Dad!!!!!

  • Im gnna come right out and say it,

    I'm lesbian.

This is how i wis my dad reacted. this speech iliteral how i get ovr every minuite of torture. Kurt and Santana are my life lines. If onl people could look past the vonurability and see me.

KURT AND BURT WOULD WANT YOU TO!

  • I wish all dads would react this way

  • I love burt right now... And I soooo want to give kurt a big hug :3 and i've also just realised that kurt and burt rhyme ;)

  • Made me cry...

  • Amen kris. I don't watch Glee, don't even like it, but stumbled here from link about fighting homophobia. I'm young and straight. The last time a friend of mine said "That's gay" I told her "Don't use that word that way in my house". She rolled her eyes and said "oh please" and I said "NO. It implies its wrong or disordered and dishonors the memory of my late uncle and spits on some of my friends. So say "That's stupid" or leave my house". She was terse the rest of the night lol

  • @SG1Mitchell In total agreement here. Even if people claim that they are directing the word at an object, no matter what they are directing it at they ARE aware that they are using it negatively; stupid is a negative word, and using gay in it's place means gay becomes a negative term. No word describing a person, sexuality, ethnicity, or disability should ever be used as a form of insult, because even if you aren't using it in hate, you ARE still wielding the word like it is a bad thing.

  • this one of the greatest clips. everyone can learn something from it.

  • if only every dad did that.............

  • @nbbroxs123 right!!!!!!!!!!

  • im gay and no 1's ever called me a fag, i mean it wouldnt hurt me either way

  • Love this <3 Wish my dad was like that..

  • GREAT scene for many reasons including resignating lines but there were alot of unsaid things like how kurt needs to stand up for hisself and how it isn't okay to flirt or give unwanted romantic attention to someone who has expressed discomfort. Kin's not bad he just reacted poorly (we all have) to the situation due to compounding stresses like most young people do....he'll learn from it. SIDENOTE: honestly I wouldn't want to move in with someone I've rejected repeatedly male or female

  • @NicoleLamburtSolomon yes -333

  • Did anybody else want to give Kurt a hug?

  • @NicoleLambertSolomon Hellz to the yes

  • I love this so much. I cried.

  • I cry so much at this scene ><

  • This is probably one of the most meaningful and powerful scenes in the history of time. There's nothing wrong with being gay. Hell I think I might even be bi. And anyone that bullies or discriminates people who are gay or lesbians need to fucking get their act together and suck up their stupid pride and get over themselves. Because this world and its people don't need those kinds of stupid remarks. Being gay shouldnt change how other people look at you and judge you. Your still a human being

  • It's great that glee showed an example of parents who accept their kids for who they are if they're gay/transexual etc but also admit openly that it wasn't easy. People like that do exist, for anyone out there who's struggling with their sexuality and is reading this now, there's still hope. There are also people out there who care and want to help you get through the hard stages and support your decisions. You just have to keep searching and eventually someone will say "you're ok by me" :) xxx

  • What an oversensitive bitch.

  • "oh no no i wasn't i want talking about him i was talking to the blanket"

that makes me wanna laugh but cry at the same time.

  • Whoa

  • "You live a few years, you start seeing the hate in people's hearts."

This man deserves an Emmy for delivering that with a straight face.

  • Hey, look, I have only seen this clip and only watched a few episodes of Glee, so maybe my view is not as clear, but... wasn't this being a little harsh on Finn? Yes, that word is by no means appropriate, but he really wasn't meaning it out of anger against gay people, he was just frustrated and lost his temper because, if what the comments below say are true, Kurt was really hitting on him, a hetereosexual person and Finn just did not want to put up with it anymore.

    Maybe I'm wrong, I dunno

  • @Wormtail96 i agree completely in a way but i think that what the writers of the show were trying to convey is how offensive and misused that word is. i really admire them for doing it so powerfully, harsh but i think it was more effective that way.

  • @Wormtail96 no it wasnt being harsh on fin at all. Burt invited him into his house and was treating him like his own son. Burt felt betrayed because he thought he had found someone who respected Kurts lifestyle. Instead he finn used it as an insult. Yes kurt was flirting with him BUT if you watch the earlier episodes you will notice that they where becoming closer.

  • I feel the same way you do about all the homophobes out there. Glee will forever be my favorite show. Kurt Blaine and Santana will always be my favorite characters. I love how they cover all points of life and how everyone lives whether its being gay, bi, having downsyndrome. I think this is a much needed show that changes how people look at someone who is supposedly different.

  • I can appreciate the seriousness of the scene, but I can't help but giggle when Finn says "Oh, no, I didn't call him anything. I was talking to the blanket."

  • This was my favorite scene from Glee! I loved how no matter how different Kurt was, Burt still loved him and accepted him. I really wish the two would spend more time together.

And I'm really glad that no one disliked this because this scene is.... beautiful! Except for Finn. He is just... really annoying. It's like he's there to only make the wrong choices.

  • I love this scene it made me cry

its one of the best moments in glee

my friend told me he's gay

but doesn't want to get bullied

i'm not in the same school as him

and i don't know what to say to him

    let it out?

i don't want him to be scared

i don't know what to tell him can someone help?

  • @topaz8989 When my brother came out i felt the same way. First of all tell him that you love him and that you will always be there for him no matter what because that is what he most needs to hear. And than you just need to support him in whatever decision he chooses whether to come out or not. either way he is going to need a friend like you. hang in there.

  • Best scene ever!

  • such a good scene, i wish people could stand in the shoes of me and other GLBT people and see how hurtful it is to hear any antigay slur even if not directed towards you, especially when it comes from people close to you.

  • Finn is such and stupid asshole. ¬¬'

    Luv you Kurt.-♥

  • Beautiful<3

  • This seriously made me want to cry. I'm a recent Glee fan so I missed this episode - still trying to catch up. But oh, my word, I want to hug Burt here. You do not talk like that to his kid, he will go Papa Wolf on you. Mike OMalley, you are awesome in your greatness!

  • I was flipping through channels recognized him from yes dear so I watched this was the first scene of glee I ever saw and it is what got me hooked for life.

  • one of the most powerful moments in Glee

  • When I first watched this episode this bit almost made me cry. I never cry with movies or TV.

  • @HeroSavage dont worry mate, someday you'll stop fighting it and come to terms with who you really are and all this anger you have will subside. Watch Tuesdays episode of Glee, Karofsky, the homophobe who is struggling to come to terms with his own sexuality, finds peace with himself. Might learn something.

  • @tostrivetoseek well done! just what i was thinking, some people should be ashamed. By the way are you a fellow aussie? thought i would ask because of the 'mate' thrown in.

  • @toankabe My father is Australian. I can only feel pity for people like HeroSavage. It cant be easy to feel so much hatred, especially about something that is so obviously a part of themselves.

  • @HeroSavage Actually, Burt didn't call Finn a "retard." He said, since it was okay to call Kurt a "fag" is that it must be okay to call Becky a "retard." And why are you so angry? Youtube wanksta XD

  • @TheRainbowSceneKid this episode is Theatricality

  • What episode is this?
