  • i just got a second degree from a dirtbike recently.. almost right where you got it,is it natural for it to leak like puss? or idk what product should i use to treat it?

  • Could you show us how it looks now? Im having trouble with my own second degree scar burn.. is there anyway to make it heal?? any creams, oils you recommend?

  • @sunshinemardrom Lots of gentle circular massage helps to keep the skin supple and stop it from contorting the way some burn tissue does. I also use Vitamin E oil - I buy the capsules that you are meant to swallow, but instead i prick them open with a pin and squeeze the liquid onto the skin. Apricot kernel oil is also great..

I'll try to take photos later

  • Hey is the saudering iron hot I don't know

    Ow!!!

    My finger

  • poor kid. I know it's been a couple years since the vid bu t I hope it healed ok.

  • @juicyfruitzy , thanks :)

He has been pretty lucky - the scar is mostly normal skin colour now - most of it is still numb and always will be, but he was very lucky

It makes us realise how devastating it would be for people who have burns over more prominent areas of the body

  • How long does it take for the scar to fade?? please answer

  • @sunshinemardrom it depends on how the individual's skin reacts and how extensive the burn is. In his case, it took about 4 months until the skin wasn't shiny-pink looking. Some people can end up with lumpy, discoloured scar tissue, but he was lucky.

  • I want to scrub it with sandpaper.

  • You'll have to get a good tattoo artist to incorporate that scar into some sweet art. After you're 18 of course.

  • How long did the scarring last?? until his skin became normal again??

  • @StellaStarGirl21 it took maybe 4 months until the skin had a normal sort of look to it. Now (a few years later) the scars are only noticeable if you are up close. They are like dents in his skin, and when he is really cold they can look a bit purple. The area is mostly numb and always will be numb, but all in all he has been very very lucky.

  • i have a scar on my Stomach from boiling hot water. i learned my lesson and a trophy for getting a pain to show off at school.

  • my foot was on fire but ounce but im ok

  • my stupid friend burned my arm with hot glue. my dad asked me if i had fimped a cigarett on my arm and i was like -_-'

  • guys look! I have a black turd on my leg!!

  • Comment removed

  • umm i know that burns hurt and all and i hope hes doin fine but how come you guys like took it to the extreme and went to the ER or doctors or wherever you went. soap and water and fresh gauze is all you need :P

  • For some burns tgat is the case. However in the case of children, anything beyond the size of a 20c piece is meant to be seen by a doctor. The biggest concern was the burn areas that didn;t have pain - that indicates that it is a full depth burn.

The amount of heat felt on the skin increased overnight, further indicating that it needed medical intervention due to infection.

  • @merrintrue ohh i see that brown stuff did look pretty nasty lol

  • my friend and i made a duct tape torch and lit it on fire. he decides to swing it around like an idiot and some of the flaming melted duct tape landed on my leg, still on fire. i jumped into the pool to cool it off. it took about 3-4weeks to start healing, it also left a scar..

  • that sounds like the retarded sort of thing i would do!

  • aww, i hope he feels better now

  • He does - although he has since had a 2nd degree friction burn that has left a scar he is very proud of. Bloody teenage boys ...

  • @merrintrue yeah well i got a 3rd or 4th degrre burn and it was peeling and bleeding and uzzing never try to put out a fire on a stirafoam plane :D

  • u sud sue, if u got 2nd degree burns that means the coffee is way too hot. some women burned herself on mcdonalds coffee (totally her fault) and got 300mill

  • Yes, one of the nurses in the hospital was talking about that. Well, I brought it up , I was saying that the payout was ridiculous.

The nurse said no, the coffee had been served at such an excessive temperature that to receive a payment was reasonable. Apparently there are even guidelines over there for the temperature as far as safety and the best flavour of the coffee brew goes, and the temp in that case exceeded both.

  • i believe that story of the 300 mil for a coffee burn is modern folk lore but a good story. You are right about guidelines for safe temperatures for hot beverages for the public.

If you or your loved ones use the microwave for coffee or hot chocholates, be careful, they can bite too!

  • WHAT?!!?

    Damn

  • Get a tattoo on it cover it up.

  • you had no running water but somehow you made coffee!?!?! Hmmmm...

  • It was a drive-thru coffee, smarty pants :P

  • coffee shop???

I dont think they would allow anyone to drain water on their feet for 20 mins

  • i got burned on a harley last summer 2nd degree my burn is more manly i was 12 when it happened

  • i never new coffee could move

  • I have deep 2nd and 3rd degree burns.

  • COFEE DID THAT TO YOU!!!!????

  • yep, the teenisest, tiniest dribble of coffee. Just a drip that rolled down his leg. :-/

  • hey man how long did it take it to heal? or start to look better even? i got a 2nd degree on the top part of my forearm.

  • It was 2 - 3 months of burns clinic treatment - medications, dressings, massage and pressure bandages.

It was important to keep it moisturised and covered with sunscreen as new skin can scar and pigment badly.

These days there are slight indents where the burns were. I guess we are heading for nearly 2 years since it happened.

  • lmfao toostupid2doanything "i got a 2nd degree burn from tea" heh i dunno bout that but last week i had a heap of oil real hot in the pan and when i dropped a slab of salmon meat in that baby a tsunami of oil hit me below the thumb knuckle, pain wasnt too bad

  • I got a second degree burn on my hand when I tripped in my kitchen and my hand went onto the hob. Blister about the size of a ping pong ball sprung straight away.

  • lol like a week ago i blew up a cup in my hand with a lighter by putting gas in it and got burned pretty bad.

  • hmm looks more like what i thought to be 3rd degre..guess i was wrong :/

  • there were bits that were deep 2nd, so close to 3rd.

  • Yesterday i got a bad burn on my foot. What happened was that when i opend up the laptop i accidently put the dustjacket on the candles (which i didn't see) then i noticed it and tried to put it in the sink but some of it feel on the ground and i stepped on it. But i am ok. The house didn't house. I guess i am lucky.

  • God I got some mild 1st degree burns today and the way they hurt I can't imagine how bad this must feel! I got the burns from putting waht I thought was an unlit match into a small pile of black powder and it shot straight into my face but thankfully just mildly burn my fingers and singed the front of my hair and eyebrows. It was not fun :( Now the right corner of my hairline is farther back than the left and the middle of my eyebrows are burnt off

  • I got a 2nd degree burn last weekend. Harldy hurt at all. The Dr. said it could become a

3rd degree burn. I think it was. The lack of pain can be an indicator of a 3rd degree burn. I went rock climbing about an hour after it happened and climbed hard and went again the next day. It got infected and I had a red line going up my arm. I went to the ER which is how I found out the severity of it. I had an iv, anit-biotics and the nurse wrapped it and put bacitracin on it. That stuff worked great!

  • No offence but how do you accidentaly put a lit match into a strange black powder?

  • You burn your fingers and drop it :)

  • I know the feeling

  • i got a 2nd degree burn from tea

  • did i see a woundvac? i had one of those for my bone infection.

  • Hella hot coffee. x.x; Sure you weren't being chased by a loose flamethrower?

  • nope, it was just a teeny trickle through the mouthpiece of a takeaway cup. Colpacks were put on immediately, yet the damage still required 3 months of burn clinic. Amazing stuff huh.

  • did you put that under cold water right away ? totally reduces the chance of gettin 3rd degree burns plus doesnt blister as much. i burned myself today with hot water but it was fine it hurt alot but only 2 small blisters and my hand was hella red but its fine now. mainly just 1st degree a tiny bit of 2nd degree tho.

  • there wasn't any running water available, but there was some cold water in a cup with ice. So we soaked cloth in the water and placed it over, resoaked, replaced on and on. SHowered when home. It seemed to have been ok, but overnight went really nasty.

  • the second pic is what my leg looks like now.

  • it isn't fun is it :(

  • wen i was about 7

i poured boiling water from a kettle

    on my leg

  • guh! one of my friends did the same thing as a child, but on her arm.I think given the era that she acquired the injury, she didn't come out of it too badly. There is some gnarled scar tissue that may not have occured with treatments today. Hope yours turned out ok.

  • Well, I never have filed a Plaintiff's Suit in the State of Western Aust., but I am game. Who's the Defendant? We can get Dr. Lemur to provide expert medical testimony and you have some of the demonstrative exhibits right here on YouTube. (Good Day in the Life Stuff, Actually).

  • wOOt , we would make a formidable team!

  • Good God Merrs. That's awful. I've had a 3rd degree burn once on my hand and it was much smaller but still wasn't much fun. Hope the kid is doing okay. Caffeine really is the silent attacker. Yikes.

  • I should stick to Red Bull I guess ;/

He is being looked after by Fiona WOod - the Australian of the Year Bruns Surgeoan-Bali-Bombing_poster-Girl

It spins me out that it was such a short exposure, yet the effect was so huge.

How did your hand heal up?

  • It happened when I was 5 and you can still see the scar today, although it's faded away quite well by now over the years.

  • Cool! I have a friend who had extensive hot water burns over her upper body and arm as a youngster.. it is still pretty tight and matted.

Lucky that this fella is 10 - not quite as fragile. Tho I know he will have to be really careful in the sun - i was telling him zinc cream all this summer. The nurse said, um, no, for AT LEAST 2 years.

Well, the next appointemtn is in 12 hours....

hehe, and what do you think, you, me and USA lawyer

    wait,

i didn't mean it like THAT

  • Ha I should hope you didn't! LOL Sounds like a good team though. The man does know his law.. and I can be a pretty convincing fake doctor..

  • ~ :D ~
