Gee that lionness at 2:14 is so fat! I had to look at it a few times before I knew what it was..The lions on national geographic surely don't look like that. LOL
but why do they have to live there whole life in their cage shouldn't you guys let them go in the reserves in the places there meant to be to live freely??
@nimi118 We wish it were that simple! Unfortunately captive bred cats are very rarely released into the wild and the cats we rescue from backyards and fur farms etc... would never be considered if this were possible because they are cross bred and/or inbred so they don't have good genetics. Plus they do not have hunting skills, associate people with food .....etc.... etc....
@lltmss Another sanctuary provided a home for them, we are only capable of rescuing so many cats each year due to expenses and room for the animals etc....
@BigCatRescue are the diets of defanged cats different, mushed up or anything? Poor kitties. So sick that people mutilate these creatures for their own profit.
@themysczaplinski We rescue many cats that have been on poor diets their whole life, so when they arrive at BCR many of them aren't in great shape, we switch them to a good balanced diet and give them lots of enrichment to encourage natural behaviors, they begin to look better and most importantly begin to enjoy themselves :)
In a world where profit is the main thing, above all humanity & morals, it is so good to have this non-profit-organisation who cares for big cats. Otherwise no one would do this or it would only be in order to get more money. and that would lead to more abusing of those big cats!
@IBroLLyISePhIrOtH Cats we rescue have usually been fed poor diets that results in in proper growth/development from birth and this carries on into maturity so they don't look the best, we have since switched them to a good diet and they are looking much better!
Did u got more videos about joseph pride?? did he live with 1 afrikan lioness and 4 tigers???? joseph rulez , i wanna see more videos about him and the tigers ^.^ thanks 4 the quick respond!! u guys owns :-)
@IBroLLyISePhIrOtH Joseph's Pride = Joseph (male lion) Sasha (female lion) Nikita (male tiger) and Simba (female tiger) if you search josephs pride on our channel you will find many more videos :)
@reesaable That's Sasha a lioness, you're right she was overweight when we rescued her since, being at BCR and on a good diet she as lost some weight :)
will the white tiger be okay? And i had no idea stuff like this could happen in ohio...it's kinda arie...I hope they all do well but after hearing what has to be done to make white tigers i hope most that he/she will be safe.
That was Sasha the lioness, since her rescue we have put her on a much better diet along with the rest of Joseph's pride and she is doing much better :)
Is there an update on Joseph's Pride? Poor cats look shell shocked here, but that was a few years back. I imagine they're doing 100x better now, with a good diet and lots of room at the rescue. : )
Yep, Josephs pride = 2 lions and 2 tigers that live together. Obviously this is not natural, this would never happen in the wild, they must have been raised together from a young age so don't know any better!
Even though they were born and raised in Ohio and (I'm assuming) never knew any other environment until your rescue, I bet they prefer the Florida climate....much more similar to what they'd experience had they grown up in their natural habitat!
i have always loved the big cats they are one of the most beautiful animals in the world and its good u put a lot of work into saving them from the dangers !! do the cats ever get tame enough to pet them or showing some affection to them?
Well there's no such thing as a tame tiger/lion or any wild species of cat for that matter, they will always have those wild instincts. They do show affection though :) but this can soon change!
Freckles was rescued along with Alex and Cookie the tigers from a backyard in Mississippi almost a year ago. The owner once had over 30 big cats in his backyard! These 3 cats were the last ones to survive since the owner had deserted the property!
That's Nikita, he's a big boy but since this video was shot he has been on a good balanced diet and as shed the excess weight and looks really good! :)
Where we rescued them from they were already living together and getting along well, they were most likely introduced to each other at a very young age. So whenever we can we try and keep animals together and not spilt them up. But you're right if we tried to introduce a mature lion and tiger together they would fight!
Maybe you guys could create a Summer weight loss programme called BigFat rescue! Fat people would stay at the santuary and be fed on strict diets and exercise just like the cats! Just Kidding! Or am i?
The place we rescued them from used them as photo "props" so they were declawed and defanged except for Joseph the male lion who kept his teeth. They had collars on and their heads were kept tightly in place :(
I can barely see their legs/necks, those are some REALLY BIG cats. But not compared to a LIGER I saw in Nat Geo. ^^ But still those cats are bigger than their usual size in the wild. 5/5
oo stop with that o thank god yes thank you lord but your not any heroes just stop with that nonsense these cats are enclosed and drugged to their tongues they didnt look happy you stupid or retarded they look mind programed and high as kites

This is horrific;how can anyone defang and declaw these beasts;is the woman insane? And what sort of vet does this?you are all saints for helping these animals.
Donating $1.00 to help these cats would most likely not be a problem for anybody, but to donate that $1.00 you have to provide some of your personal information which is what people don't want to do.
I am glad to hear that your daughter's boss will not enable these horrid people to mutilate big cats. Canine implants are not an option for these cats, so we have to just make sure their diet is easy for them to eat. It is so sad to see the troubles they have in eating.
and then take those two and let them mate, then as soon as they mate let the wild female bigcat go to its natural habitat and then most likely it would be able to have its cub and take care for it in the wild, dont you think that would be a great way to speed up teh process of the population growth? i know it would be a small price to pay having to keep the wild animal inside a cage for a while but right after its done and has mated wouldnt atleast help teh population, anyways thats my thought.
okay, im sorry for bothering you again, cuz i think i posted messages a couple times before, but im just wondering are teh lions and tigers going to be there for a short time together because wouldnt they mate and make ligers/tigon. and also i was just thinking about this and wanted to know if this may work, what would happen if you guys catch a wild tigress any of the bigcats that are near extinct and then bring it to a place like just for two of them meaning teh wild female cat with a male one
ssr2020, you are not bothering us. You can post as often as you'd like. The cats are not allowed to breed here. We do not want to breed any babies, since there isn't any way to responsibly release them into the wild.
Again, I must say Thank the good Lord for people like you at BCR:) It is so nice to watch these videos and know that someone cares enough to do something about this situation.
I guess it makes a change to rescue overweight animals rather than the ones that have been starved!! I hope the lions and tigers continue to loose their weight at a sensible rate, and they are enjoying their larger enclosures.I just wish there was no need for any animal rescue societies but thank goodness people such as you exist to offer these cats a chance of a fulfilling life, but they would look so much better running wild.
Ludwigrod, thank you, for your kind heart and encouraging comment. We, too, wish there were no more animals in need of sanctuary. Maybe if more states would pass better laws prohibiting these animals being kept as pets, that number of animals in need of rescuing would drop to none. That is why being aware of the laws in your state is so important. You can visit CatLaws*com to find out if your state has laws or not.
The reason these cats are so fat is because they only have 1 acre to run around in. They probably don't get any exercise. It's kind of cruel in a way, but they're better off than what they were.
Cindos69, actualy they were very overweight upon their arrival here which was just a short time ago. Since they do get a lot of exercise they have begun to trim down. But as with humans weight loss needs to be slow and steady and not huge rapid drops. They are steadily slimming down, it will just take them some time to reach their ideal weight.
Has anyone ever considered a program for repatriation of big cat genetics to country/countries of origin?? Is this something that is already being addressed??
I think you should send them back to Africa or Asia where they can run free.
Africa has got some national parks where Animals are allowed to be free in there natural habitat.
I truly appreciate you guys rescuing the animals but no matter how nice the place, i dont think they should be in cages. They should be in Africa/Asia.
Thanks so much BCR for taking care of "my people". I really do love these big cats and wish them and you all the very best of everything. If I am ever down in Tampa I will surely stop by! Keep up the good work!
support the human society of EVERYWHERE!!! support BCR!! support hicupps! (sorry theyare on my mind... i have them) support...um....um....wwelll everything that Scott said in the video
I dont understand how and why people get ahold of these animals in the first place. I remember a few months back there was a show coming to a club in my city and they were advertising a tiger would be there and he had some kind of show name. It was kind of upesetting and I proceeded to give the promoter of the show a piece of my mind. The tiger dosnt want to be in a club with loud music, flashing lights ans people everywhere. I hope you guy rescue that tiger.
Meliquoi, If you can supply us with any flyers they put out that would be great. Wild animals do not belong in public settings like that. THANK YOU for speaking up.

On your website I read about how that woman defanged and declawed those cats.
I was wondering if it's possible to give them back fangs, sort of like how people get partials when they lose some of their teeth.
It's awfully sad to think that they have to go the rest of their lives without their fangs just because she decided they didn't need them.
Why would a Vet do the procedure? My daughter works for an animal doctor who refuses to do exotic procedures on animals.

and then take those two and let them mate, then as soon as they mate let the wild female bigcat go to its natural habitat and then most likely it would be able to have its cub and take care for it in the wild, dont you think that would be a great way to speed up teh process of the population growth? i know it would be a small price to pay having to keep the wild animal inside a cage for a while but right after its done and has mated wouldnt atleast help teh population, anyways thats my thought.
ssr2020 3 years ago
ssr2020, sadly at this time there isn't any programs or places for releasing them into the wild.
BigCatRescue 3 years ago
okay, im sorry for bothering you again, cuz i think i posted messages a couple times before, but im just wondering are teh lions and tigers going to be there for a short time together because wouldnt they mate and make ligers/tigon. and also i was just thinking about this and wanted to know if this may work, what would happen if you guys catch a wild tigress any of the bigcats that are near extinct and then bring it to a place like just for two of them meaning teh wild female cat with a male one
ssr2020 3 years ago
ssr2020, you are not bothering us. You can post as often as you'd like. The cats are not allowed to breed here. We do not want to breed any babies, since there isn't any way to responsibly release them into the wild.

I guess it makes a change to rescue overweight animals rather than the ones that have been starved!! I hope the lions and tigers continue to loose their weight at a sensible rate, and they are enjoying their larger enclosures.I just wish there was no need for any animal rescue societies but thank goodness people such as you exist to offer these cats a chance of a fulfilling life, but they would look so much better running wild.
ludwigrod 3 years ago
Ludwigrod, thank you, for your kind heart and encouraging comment. We, too, wish there were no more animals in need of sanctuary. Maybe if more states would pass better laws prohibiting these animals being kept as pets, that number of animals in need of rescuing would drop to none. That is why being aware of the laws in your state is so important. You can visit CatLaws*com to find out if your state has laws or not.

Nice.

The reason these cats are so fat is because they only have 1 acre to run around in. They probably don't get any exercise. It's kind of cruel in a way, but they're better off than what they were.
cindos69 3 years ago
Cindos69, actualy they were very overweight upon their arrival here which was just a short time ago. Since they do get a lot of exercise they have begun to trim down. But as with humans weight loss needs to be slow and steady and not huge rapid drops. They are steadily slimming down, it will just take them some time to reach their ideal weight.

wow

Count 2:14 That lioness looks over weight. And the others seems they were feed very well. They all look healthy.
AnimalsandNature 3 years ago
AnimalsAndNature, yes they were that way when they arrrived, but as they make use of their big yard (Cat-A-Tat) they will begin slimming down.

Keep up the good work though.

Tune5000, thank you for your comment. We too wish they could be free, sadly though it simply is not possible.

I hope you guy rescue that tiger.
meliquoi 3 years ago 2
Meliquoi, If you can supply us with any flyers they put out that would be great. Wild animals do not belong in public settings like that. THANK YOU for speaking up.
