It may be relevant that mine is meant to be portable Came in a wonderful art deco style metallic looking case. The whole thing weighs a ton. I remember that I did get it to work before, and the unlock seemed to raise the carriage bar slightly and this is what is no longer happening, so guess some linkage has disconnected. How do I find it? I'm a girl (well woman of a certain age really) so need help in these matters .......
Thank you very much for posting this. What actually happens in my case, is that the unlock key seems to work, it moves and unlocks the typing keys, but the carriage stays locked. I've found if I actually manually lift the whole carriage bar it seems to get over some kind of hurdle and then I can carry on typing. Have to lift every time to pass middle, either on return or typing. Any further ideas? would be most appreciated.
