  • This is really cool. Also, I appreciate the time you put in creating just for the video. You went thru the steps thoroughly, but left parts undone (gluing) just to be able to finish showing the technique. So you still had to go back and finish (or totally redo) in order to utilize that box. Very kind of you to make the video really just to show how it is done. Thanks!

  • @justthemom3 Thank you! We often have to cut parts of our videos for time management.

  • I loved this technique, turned out just great.I Am going to give this a go with a small box I have. RachO113 has a great tech similar to this which i just love. Anyway, Tfs this great creative project. :-) Thank you, Lee-Anne.

  • @gadgetgirlish Thank you! We hope you'll send photos of it to candace@cool2craft (dot com) so she can share them on our website!

  • Great look, Great idea. Thank you.

  • @charsbabushka Thank you for the lovely compliment!

  • get a drink of water lord hurts my ears to listen to that scratchy voice.

  • @Aquahoma That's Heidi's regular voice and we love her just the way she is =0)

  • @Aquahoma Aquahoma: I produced instructional videos for years and have done voice over as well as selected dozens of voice over artists (professionals) for other projects. there isn't a voice on earth that everyone finds pleasing. Personally. Heidi's voice didn't bother me at all and most importantly did not distract from the information in the video, which is the ultimate test. Speak on Heidi! ignore the criticism.

  • I'd forgotten about this technique which some of my mom's friends used. My mom only looked on - the craft gene seemed to have skipped a generation (her at least) but fortunately hasn't skipped my kids or grandkids! Interestingly I have a newspaper clipping of her and friends doing this work in a Sioux City Iowa newspaper back in the 50's. But as I said, she was an onlooker! Thanks for posting!

    (dang, I sound like a first grader, don't I?)

  • @SpongLena lol :) Yep! Our Momma Aleene introduced this technique decades ago so it's been used a lot! Hope you still have your family crest!

  • That's really cool, thanks for the tutorial! I found that if you use a metallic silver basecoat with a thin coat of whatever color you choose you can get a similar finish

  • Thank you for comments, samala! Candace the Muse would love to see the box you made and share it on our website! Email candace at cool2craft!

  • So glad I saw this tutorial! I make a box for my mom every xmas and her birthday so when I saw this, I knew I was going to use this technique. It turned out GREAT! Thanks!!!

  • Thank you so much for your comments, Yenminh! Most of the techniques Tiffany and Heidi teach can be done without special tools. In fact, many of their techniques come from experimenting with things you keep around the house. Keep crafting!

  • i wish you were my teachers!! my eng isnt that good and i dont have all of these tools in VietNam :( i love your videos, great work you have! :)

  • EcoHeidi used Aleene's Original Tacky Glue to glue the trinkets on this box. We have original look of forged metal boxes that were made by Momma Aleene over 40 years ago that are still holding strong!

  • great video...what type of glue do you use to put the trinkets on the box? does it last well over time? thanks so much

  • well done!
