  • This video offers interesting information.

  • @1989Firecracker Enough with the nigger jokes already. I swear is this how you get your kicks? Your probably the one "who cant do algebra" and is "passing their classes with D's". Dont be "baffled" that people hate you for being a troll. And dont make up some bs excuse, because it will just be a loser loser pants on fire.

  • Can you solve (3^11)^3 remember ^ is exponent

  • Why the 8 dislikes? By the way M just breezing through the lectures just for fun ;)

  • subscribed

  • Wtf u guys don't get it?

  • Can u just give us simple laws for adding and subtracting?

  • omg im never going to get this

  • Can anyone help me :3

    5*(3^8/3^6)*10^-3

  • Hes good lol i am helping my girl get her GED! Yea

  • OMG!!!!!! THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!!! MATH IS NOW SO MUCH EASIER!!!!!

  • my math teacher is having us learn by this its so cool im in 6th grade but i still dont undeerstand and i think its a bunch of bull but my math teacher is having us learn by this and we get to pick which ones we get to watch and we get to learn at our own pace

  • 8 people cant learn

  • 2^3 = "2 multiplied by itself 3 times" . . . and so on. I only count two multiplications, two instances of the mathematical operation, 2 x 2 x 2. Can anyone suggest another way I might phrase this to myself without confusing myself? thanks

  • When you are doing equations, and you run into -1^2 are you supposed to assume it is (-1)^2 or (-1^2) ??? HELP

  • @juanarruti unless otherwise specified with parantheses, it is the first one

  • I totally needed to watch this video. Really if 1/5 of our teachers had your knowledge in how to break it down. Our kids would be doing soooo much better. I heard someone say " To teach is to relearn" or to teach is to grow. You'er a great teacher!!

  • well i love the videos they help me learn a bit and review it

     and im only 10

  • Exponent rules and you rule!

  • way to break it down

  • got 94 in math this year by watching your vids...

    Thanks so much

  • @Jord4n09 what was the 6 u did not get?

  • Excelente trabajo

  • dude will you marry me

  • you are God. thanks

  • Diis Shiit Boriing Buut ii Need My Education..

    ima Pass Math..

  • Academy's :-)

  • It's obvious that Sal is great at math, but I think he could benefit from learning some basic teaching strategies. The academies system works best as refreshers after being taught by a licensed teacher.

  • What do you mean by "There's 2 to the 8 times 1, 2 to the 8 times 2." at 4:33?

  • i feal smart i

  • in 2nd year of calculus in college. cant think of anything more important than knowing these exponent rules well

  • This is great, but you should get a Wacom tablet. Then you could write faster and better.

  • every year around final exam time I always visit this dudes channel. It really helps me out. I wish i did it more often DURING the school year so that i could have done even better.

  • I LOVE MATH NOW !!!!

  • If it weren't for Salmon Khan I think I would never have a chance at higher learning as I am too poor and too busy trying to earn a living and getting older and weaker as the years go by.

  • cool

  • 6th grade math :p

  • @gcexposer2010 actually, a math textbook company called envision math put exponents in their 5th grade math textbook. soo its now 5 and 6 grade math

  • 10^4 - 10^2 = ???

  • what if it was 2^8+2^5?

  • I hope i acheieved my goal of confusing you just now. hahaha

  • thanx 4 confusing me more! lol. my you rule!

  • i''m confused in 5:48 - 6:46 pls messge me to explain please :)

  • Exponents are good, but they dont rule.

  • what if u have -2 to the fifth: each time when u multiply do u also multiply the negative

  • you've helped me so much with my math, thank you thank you thank you thank you!

  • How did 4^100 become 2^2^100?

  • @HowAboutSomeTruth1 - Because 4 = 2^2

  • If every math teacher in America had even 1/5th your talent, our students would be the highest in math.

  • THIS GUY IS GOD!!! i won't fail my test tomorrow, by the way its college math but i forgot all this crap i haven't been to school in a few years....

  • Amen FlashBright, I'm gearing up to take the GREs to get into grad school for ART, and I want a good score. Unfortunately I haven't done math in seven years, thanks to these lessons it's all coming back to me so I can actually start studying!

  • @FlashBright He is not God, he is God's creation! A gifted person!

  • @priyakoko i Know right...its amazing how humans can idolized anything or anyone who happens to be a little better in what they do...take for example, how these actors and so called singers are worshiped today...sad!

  • @lamijoe Lol! Yea True! :)

  • @FlashBright college math? i gotta learn this in grade 9! :( but Sal helped me out and i owe him my 100 marks!

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!! you will help me through

    school!

  • thank you!

I've learned so much more in this past week than I would in school in over a year

  • wow thanks now i dont get confused by this stuff!

  • This dude's good with a mouse lol

  • He's using a pen tablet not a mouse :)

  • Okay, I am CONFUSED. How in this world does 5 to -100 squared x 5 to 102 squared = 5 squared 2 ??/ Are we subtracting negative -100 from positve 100 and that leaves 2 so we square it with 5?/ How am I going to remember every step to use on all these diffirent types of exponets? I mean I am going to forget to add or subtract or multiply or something. Is my brain really big enough to remember all this stuff? Help!!!!!

  • It's 5 to the negative 100 times 5 to the 102. Because it's multiplication and they have the same bases, we add the exponents. 102 plus negative 100 is 2 so it's 5 squared which is 25. Calm down! You'll understand it if you don't freak out, breathe deeply, and practice a lot, but I do feel your pain. It can be pretty overwhelming when you're behind. Good luck!

  • You mean variables.

  • you shouldn't think of them as letters. you are applying your existing defintion of what a letter is.

think of them as symbols. kind of an "insert any number here" symbol. it doesn't matter what the number and by removing the numbers you can set the rule more clearly.

for example. if you go over 55mph you get a ticket for $100. if you go over X mpg you get a $Y ticket. X and Y can be any numbers. x can = 25 y can = 50. its the rule that matters. dont speed

  • yea. I think I get it. pretty good.

  • i was still confused on this in my calculus class... but after watching ur video i fully understands it now

  • Finally, I actually understand this stuff.

  • thank you, very helpful lol.

  • I don't understand how the -5 becomes 7 to the -5 power. Can you tell me why that is?

Other than not understanding that, this video was awesome. After the fifth time watching, I can say that with certainty.

  • Thanks for posting!, very helpful.

  • Thank you!
