Your "fuck you two of my friends!" line is also not impressing. Losing a friend like that, while sad, doesn't give you more perspective on this. It only blinds you with emotion and grief.

Also, the movie makes it pretty clear that Hayley's a budding serial killer who preys on acceptable targets. She's hardly a hero.

But yeah, great movie. One of my favorites.

Makino Kazu absolutely loves horses. One day while riding, her horse threw her off and trampled her, almost fatally. She spent a long time in recovery. Obviously this song is about that, although the pleading about how someone breaks your heart can be generalized.

The last song on the album, "equus", is in a way a resolution to this first song. In it she acknowledges the timidity of the horses and how she "must just let you be a horse, all I want to be is a rider, to be a part of you."
