And regarding the Hawaii comment, I'm under the impression that Hawaii is just a good reference point for people to understand what it's like. It's not identical or anything.

There is also a rumor that among all the dialects of South Korea, Jeju dialect is the most distinctive of all and, unfortunately, very difficult for most Koreans to understand. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

@Avelyn81 There is like 20 different spellings of it but I have friends over there and they spell it Jeju :)
