  • aww how cute

  • that tortoise or bearded dragon isnt a baby

  • Ohh I want a tortoise

  • I thought it wasn't good for a Bearded Dragon to have sand in its cage when its a baby...

  • @Foster7Clay It isn't. It can cause impaction.

  • that's cool, what do you use as bedding?, it looks like wood shavings to me :P

  • @Teeklip, i can't be sure, but i believe its Coconut Fiber EcoEarth.

  • @Teeklip You should use 50% sterile play sand and 50% coconut coir or zoo med eco earth.

That keeps it nice and dry for the tortoise, they come from a hot and dry environment with sand everywhere that's why there shell is shiny in the wild. Proven fact.

  • @vampire5003 They are a grassland tortoise and are grazers.

  • where can i get a tortoise like that with out it taking a big chomp out of my wallet ?

  • i would get a greek tortoise(much smaller) snakes seem to get old after a month or two. I have both plus more.......

  • u should get a snake ive a beardy and a cornsnke and some fire belleid toads and newts but im not saying the snake is the best cause the beardie is amazin cause im a big lizard fan

  • awesome. I have 2 baby Bearded Dragons, 2 Leopard Geckos, a Tokay Gecko, and 2 European Green Toads.

  • Really the vid is not too bad, but your aggressive and overly defensive replies to so many of the comments posted makes me wonder if you are the right kind of person to be near animals sweetnspunky. Enjoy :)

  • what size i s the tanks?

  • play sand is ok, calci sand makes em eat it.

    and its worse

  • i use ground walnut shell it works realy good

  • thats not sand? it looks awesome, 5 star

  • i use ground walnut shell it looks like sand but it wont cause impaction as easily as sand will

  • dont use sand for baby beardies they can die from gut impaction.

  • as long as the beardie is 6 inches or longer you can use calci-sand not playsand.

  • i meant any sand. i use reptile carpet

  • hey

    Cool Vid

If I were you I would take your dragon off the sand it can cause alot of medical problems. Just use reptie carpet or slate tiles

  • nice bd

  • i had a dargon and a tortoise liveing to gether and my dargon died he was 10 then my tortise died the vet said it was depresd

  • AW :(

  • thats so cute :'(

  • i heard that any tortises r not supposed 2 be in glass. I heard that thye dont regignize it so they run into it all the time.. that jsut what i heard

  • well theyre not going to be able to run fast enough to hurt themselves are they lol. besides i have a baby horsfield in a tortoise table and he always walks into the wood so i dont see the difference

  • tortoises can actually move pretty fast, the problem with glass is that they tend develop sterotypical behaviour repeatdly climbing up it and rubbing their noses againsy.

  • yeah i know they can move pretty fast but there not exactly going to knock them selves out nd i was told the same as what you said about the glass which is why i got a table instead :)

  • why do people beleive in that voodoo shit =.=

  • can beardies and tortisst es live in one tank together? i was just wondering if they were compatible as tank mates.

  • Really, no two reptiles should be housed together except for when mating. Tortoises and turtles are the easiest to keep together (tortoises with tortoises, turtles with turtles), but to the best of my knowledge, other species should be kept alone. They shouldn't be with different species nor the same species (that goes for males and females, except for mating, like I said).

  • well if you did your reserch you would realise that sand is no good for drgon as it cancorse impaction, if its calsi sand its even worst cos it can over dose them with calsium when they eat crix or wat ever live food you use :)

  • Well if you had an education you would know how to spell correctly.

And I have done research. The topic of sand and impaction is a controversial one in the herp world. I do what I feel is right, and you can do what you feel is right. I've had no issues with my animals and I hope you don't have any issues with your animals either.

  • yeah well if you done reserch then you would no sand is no good for young beardies and so what if i cant spell.

  • You're so dense.

If YOU had done any research instead of just going on the first thing you've heard, you would know that it CAN cause impaction. It is not guaranteed to. Some people think it's fine. Some don't. It's not a clear cut issue. Quit being a moron and drop the subject.

Further, spelling, grammar, and punctuation are incredibly important. Refusing to take the time to write a properly formed sentence shows laziness and a lack of intelligence.

  • well i apologise if english was not my best subject, but spelling and grammer aside i think your a cunt i was just trying to give advice on which i believe to be safist. so go screw your mom you ass wipe

  • Grow up. Insulting people from behind a computer screen is ridiculous.

I didn't ask for advice, and I explained my position on the subject to you clearly. You should have just dropped it. If I wanted your input, I would have asked for it. But I'm an adult and I can do my own research and form my own opinions on MY animals.

  • yeah well i would of dropped it but you started it, there was no need to slag off my english you dirty little sket

  • "You started it"? Isn't that something elementary school kids say? You obviously have no idea how important it is to speak properly, even on the internet, but you need to realize that it is. Especially when trying to argue a point; the better you write, the better you'll be understood. It has nothing to with it being your best subject or not; you're 19 years old, you should know by now how to write a damned sentence. It is NOT the least bit difficult.

  • it is difficault when you have dyslexia, and yeah i aint as smart as you for spelling but fuck you, i was just trying to help as i believe that sand is no good but if i new you would start this shit i wouldnt of bothered

  • I have to agree with neil on this one....he was giving you good advice....and so what about his spelling? Anyways...just watchout for

  • well i apologise if english was not my best subject, but spelling and grammer aside i think your a cunt i was just trying to give advice on which i believe to be safist. so go screw your mom you ass wipe

  • leos dont do too well in captivity, they are only for advanced tortoise keepers. I know a guy who had kept tortoises for like 25 years and he got a redfoot and it only lived for 10. they tend to have respiretory problems.

    good luck:)

  • sorry, i meant to say leopard, not redfoot...woops

  • hey bro i got a lepaord tortise to and its bin like 4 or 5 months and he didnt get to much bigger.

  • lol...u know that the tourtise get really big right?...i hope it only depends on tank size xD

  • Yes. I'm not a moron. I do my research before getting a new pet. The tank is obviously only temporary.

  • how big is your beardies tank?

  • I don't remember how big that one was. That was just a temporary tank. He moved into a much larger one a month or so later.

  • someone has a mouse and bearded dragon living together rofl look it up

  • where did u get the turtle?

  • East Bay Vivarium in Berkley, California

  • would they fight

    ??

  • The beardie and the tortoise? Yes. You should NEVER put two reptiles together, especially two different species, unless it's JUST for mating time.

  • Some reptiles can coexist

  • VERY VERY few can, and it isn't a risk worth taking. Between aggression and different species carrying different bacteria, it's not a smart idea.

  • agreed

  • i got a turtle named paco and he like being peted and hes only 1 year old and he like to

chase dogs cats squrils (if he can get close

hes a spiny thied african tortis

  • You mean an African Spur Thigh?

  • how much did it cost to get all set up with a tortoise??

  • The turtle itself was about $225. The tank was 24x24x13 and about $75. The hide, substrate, and plants were probably about $50. His UV light, heat light, and thermostat were probably another $50-$100, I really don't remember right now. His diet is expensive. At least $50 every 2 weeks for all of his food, plus another $30 or so every couple of months for his vitamins. For his dish and the container used for his soaking, we used things we already had at home.

  • $225 at that age or did you get him/her younger?

  • cool

  • the pet store...where else lol >.>"

  • where did u get him? plz respond

  • The leo. East Bay Vivarium in Berkley, CA

  • ha. my bearded dragon and tortoise share a cage only because my brother tried to kill his damn tortoise.

  • How do they do together? I couldn't imagine keeping two together lol

  • hi i gt my beardie for christmas and is a little bit smaller

your dragon is very healthy as with the dark skin colour(dark)

    great video!

  • My beardies name is Bruce too :D Bruce Lee!

  • how big is your tank for your bearded dragon?

  • That was a 20g. He moved up in size shortly after.

  • great setups i luv your tortoise and your beardie is way bigger than mine. im guessing 4-6 months?

  • I believe he was 6 months at the time :o)

  • hey my dragon looks just like that

  • Just be sure that they don't end up on their backs. My Leo was one year old. I caught him upside down in his dish. I don't know how long he was that way but I lost him. He passed away yesterday.

  • that sucks. i had the same thing happen to mine

  • hey i just got 1 barley like a month ago

& shes a baby but she like never walks never i mean all she does is sleeps she sleeps

way to much so yea any recomondations?

she hardly eats to sometimes shell walk

    but she liks alot!so yea

  • Are you talking about the tortoise, or the bearded dragon? Either way, I would definitely check your temperatures and make sure your set up isn't too hot or too cold. And for sure consider taking her to a vet.

  • what type of sand does ur bearded dragon have and where did u get the sand from?

    nice dragon btw

  • wow mocho man

  • how big a tank is ur beardie in?

  • I think that particular one was a 45

  • your retarted they dont have genitalia they have vents

  • nice tank for both lizards

  • I love your tortoise!

  • hey sweetnspunky i just wanna ask what kind of flooring did you used in your tort? is it soil?

  • I believe that at that time we were using peat moss

  • ic..how bout today? wat were you using? isnt that peat moss smells bad after a few months?

  • I believe it's still peat moss.

I'm not sure if/when peat moss starts to smell, because we change out all cage bedding every few weeks.

  • ask yur mom about Bearded Dragons they are awesome lizards and they are very friendly they are expensive but a very good pet

  • Thats a really cute leapard Tortise.

  • Well if she's really up for it, I would actually suggest a sulcata. Their shells aren't as pretty, but they are quite friendly and personable. Leos are much more shy. And I'm not too sure about the red foots... I've not done much research on them and have never owned one (though I have owned a leo and a sulcata).

  • Leopards are not that shy not once they are tamer

  • She won't let you get a snake, but she'll let you get a tortoise that will grow up to be larger than a cat or small dog?

  • realy healthy beardie you got there

  • what type of soil or sand or sumthin is that at the bottom of the vivarium ?

  • Sulcata are the biggest anyone should own, average weights between 80-110lbs some weighing near 200lbs.

  • whats the biggest tortoise you can buy

  • spur thighed are the 3rd biggest species in the world i've seen them for sale in some pets shops but they grow really big so beware!

  • what size tank was the beardie in?

  • That was his first tank, and it was 40g

  • i so want 1 i was goin 2 get 1 b4 but no space i needed a four foot long tank and 2foot wide

  • can any1 tell me what kind of tortoise i have,it has brown skin with black scale thingys, the shell color is brown with black spots that r bout half an inch wide, and they r circular

  • Do you have a picture of it...

  • sounds like a greek tortoise(testudo graeca(ibera)) also called the medditerranean spur thighed tortoise

  • it's not jealous, not mad, there's just not enough visual barriors for the beardie. it's rubbing its snout on the glass, which is bad, make more visual barriors to get it to stop. snout rubbing can seriosly destroy it's snout. (nice beardie by the way)

  • He has a background now, and they've been seperated. This was the FIRST day they were on the table together, and it was just because it was the first day we got the tortoise and set everything up.

  • this video is what made me want to get a tortoise seeing how cute it is,and i have 1 now and im loving it,its like a dog but it dosent bark,or get anoying, also fun to watch and feed it

  • lmao the beardie wants salad too

  • He gets it. And fruit. Plus crickets and worms and other stuff.

  • i keep my beardy and leopard tortoise together they share, and get along fine..

  • Like the turtle i have four Red-Ear Sliders

  • I love the tortoise. That's a lovely habitat you have for him/her.

  • That bearded dragon is probably thinking 'that bastard, lets see how popular he is when he's dead and i'm wearing his shell!' Yeah, seperate them before you see the bearded dragon sleeping in a shell.

  • They aren't kept together. They're in 2 separate tanks.

  • Dont let them see one another. I can tell they're in sperate tanks. But really, the bearded dragon looks jealous. My advice to you, dont EVER put them together. Dont let them see, hear, or even smell one another.

  • hi there please put the tort in A tortoise table if kept in a tank or vivarium they will not live half as long and will live an agoning life ad they do not get enough ventilation .. ive witnisst it myself till someone told me it was wrong and showd me pics of tortoises kept in tanks or vivs ... hope this helps

  • He's got plenty of ventilation, but thanks.

He's in a 2x2 square tank for right now, with almost the entire top open (minus where his lights are). He also gets time out each day to roam and soak.

Also, he obviously won't live in it forever as he'll outgrow it and need to be kept in our backyard (with reinforced fencing and what not).

    Again, thanks though.

  • Oh, and he can't be kept in a tortoise table because we have other pets that would eat/play with him

  • okk than thats fine as long as he gets let out a day for an hour or so and will get planty ventilation ,, hope he gos well

  • nice collection man

  • nice animals and all, but for the leo tort you should really have it in a container without see threw walls, you should put it in a wooden cage or put paper on the walls so it cant see out

  • He actually does fine, and doesn't rub his nose on the glass or anything, and he doesn't seem scared or intimidated by beyond his enclosure.

  • no the reason for it is so that the tortoise doesnt see a way out and trys to climb the wall and they can flip upside down, which can cause their death if not noticed which is the way most die because it sufercates them, and thats why it says it on all the sites about tortoises to have a wood wall or paper on it

  • Thanks for the tip... I'll look into it.
