My Grandmother lived on Wheeldon Ave for a long time through the late 60's and 70's. I've no idea where it is located within Derby or even if it still exists. I have a distant memory it was somewhere close to Friargate.
I Visited Derby while attending Download a month ago aprox, and i really took a liking on the city, of course i spend most of the time around westfield and the cathedral. But just by reading about it, i get the feeling i have only seen a small part of the city. Looking forward to going back there!
I live in Derby, and i knew were the vid was straight away, in the city center. I'm glad they changed some of the roads, its better now. Aint been to town 4 ages so im glad 2 c it :) great vids!
Good work Andy, all your hard work making and editing these videos is appreciated. Even though I left Derby in 1971 there are still many familiar landmarks I recognise, although I don't recall the name of the Pub in Derwent St at 1:20.
That pub on Derwent street is "The Royal Standard", built in the early 1860s. It closed down in 2007and in 2008 it was refurbished and reopened by the Derby micro-brewery pioneer Trevor Harris, former landlord of the Brunswick Inn.
Take note: O:45s Traffic flow at the Cockpit Roundabout has significantly altered since this video captured the roadworks, which shows work in progress.

Thanks! I love the way the video lightens on the line: Show me a garden that's bursting into life.
... Let's waste time, chasing cars, around our heads.
This song is over associated with Izzy's bathroom floor scene in Grey's Anatomy nice to find a new association.
Never been to Derby ... glad to find a way to see the area.
