Well I'm booked to fly with them soon because they don't have the modern boring stuff seen everywhere, thats coming, why do ppl have to go on negatively about older aircraft (the ones that have class and hail back to a much better era of flying -60s and 70s. The DC-10 has to be one of the most elegant airliners evwer built, and that's why I'm flying with them. It's just a shame that they clearly havent been overhauled and maintained properly over the years, hence the regular mechanical problems.

We used to have a government owned airline, New Zealand National Airways Corporation (NAC) and it had a reputation as being one of the best maintained fleets in the world, but then that was a long while ago, such as things are these days...
The 747 is a Kabo-Air (Nigeria) wet-lease and yes the livery is 'controversial' to say the least. Some love it and some hate it. But the proof is in the pudding. There is a 1/400 of the special Biman livery out already. Buy it soon to avoid disappointment. ;)

I should point out however that the DC-10's suffer primarily because of,
1. 'hard-to-get' spares and
2. Lack of planning
typical of a Government-owned airline.
The expertise of the pilots and mechanics are excellent as I know quite a few personally.
Biman are being privatized and revamped as an organization currently as of mid-2008. Some fresh blood is being pumped into top-management as well.
