I served at Phu Cat briefly in 1971, right before we turned the base over to the VNAF. Don't remember that much about it, but enjoyed your posting. Thanks for sharing!
My father was in Phu Cat 68-69. He was a master or chief master sargent at the time and was in the security police. Does the name Fred Campbell ring any bells for anyone? "Cobra Flight" is on his hat. I have picture of him in a jeep with what looks like a machine gun on the back. Would love to chat with anyone who knew him then.
These are very cool pics. I have my dads pics and I see several landmarks. My dad served thee about the same time. He;s passed away now. He enjoyed his time in Viet Nam so much he went twice. Thanks for the video. His name is Kris Shanteler from CA.
My father was at Phu Cat as well. He was there with the 185th Iowa Air National Guard. I believe he arrived in May 1968 and was there for a year. I need to dig out his photos.
Very impressive. I knew from the first picture your dad was a SP, it was taken in the Red Horse area the SPs took over. I was a member of the 37th SPS 12/69 - 12/70. Didn't see anyone I knew, but it was fun looking. Brian Hegstad
Hi BJ...Welcome Home. My name is Tomas Amill. I was at Phu Cat 70-71 with 12th. S.P.S. Bravo and then Cobra after a TDY to Pleiku. I'm going to find and "Post" some pics of gys whose name I've forgotten but whose faces I'll allways remember.
I never dreamed I'd see familiar images and scenery of Phu Cat such as the ones in your video. The first time I saw it it gave me goosebumps. I served in Security Police Squadron at the 'Cat' in 1971. Many of your dad's photos are very recognizable and familiar. I showed your video/pics to my grandson. He thought it was very cool to see where his grandpa served his country some 37 years ago. Your dad left Phu Cat a couple years before I arrived. If possible, give him my regards. Thanks.Jed
hey man I just wanted to say thanks my dad was there to.i'm not sure what unit because he does not like to talk about it alot.Hopefully as time goes by I can find out more, but again thank you for showing us alittle about what is so hard for so many to talk about. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SERVED AND ARE STILL!
I put together a similar video from pics from my pictures in Vietnam last year, and used the same song. I was around Phu Cat in January, 1967. Good job.
Cool dannyry44 ! If you can post it, I'd love to link to it. I may do a follow up video of my dad, the vietnam vet, today giving commentary on these photos. Stay Tuned! Looking around Father's Day....
being a viet nam vet myself, that was a well worth video to watch. good job. i wish i could put all the slides and b/w pics i have of da nang and bien hoa together for a clip too. will have to work on that. nice to have seen yours though, thanks.

I was at Phu Cat from 12/67-12/68; remember Romeo arriving around March 68. This is a great tribute, kid. I'm sure Tony is proud. We all worked together, Purcell, Romeo, me and others. I think Purcell and Romeo taught me how to drink!! Or was it the other way around??? Still a little hazy.......
Great job. I was stationed at Phu Cat from 12/67-12/68 and worked with your dad. Another Phu Cat vet (Nebgen)called me and said he saw my picture here. What a trip down memory lane. I will email. Tell dad hi from Purcell.
Great job, you brought your Dads'photos to life. A wonderful tribute, the Vietnam Vets don't get enough good press. They answered " The Call" with pride as others before and fought a long hard war. Again, great job!!!
Thanks for sharing the pics...small world I was in Phu Bai/Hue March 68'til apr 69' with the Marines...north of DaNang...your dad was south in the Delta...
