  • Randomguy: it is actually 'ar (G)lan y mor.'. The 'lan' (meaning 'up' in English) in the title is a mutated version of Glan, which means shore. 'Ar lan y mor' literally means 'on the seashore' and not 'up on the sea.'

    Nice song anyway!

  • I don't understand a word of it but it's great! Have to learn Welsh...

  • love cerys mathews ....form her early days up until now shes always had a beauty that no one else seems to have .....

  • Cymraeg-Cornish -Breton basically the same, Brythonic Celt, the Celtic languages are "P" celtic and "Q" celtic many similarities, goidelic and Brythonic language.

  • @alanvt1 godeilic and brythonic are the closest I agree...but still only share 30-35% similarity between the two branches :)

  • @alanvt1 And we are all brothers! My family - all Cornish, & though brought up in East Africa, I live in Falmouth, Kernow.

  • Ahhh I remember singing this song in choir. I really like this version of the song :) !

Rwy eisiau canu mwy yn Nghymraeg ar ol glywed hon i ddweud y gwir ;)

  • I have never heard welsh before. It sounds different than Breton. There should be a language study between the two.Since they are related.

  • WONDERFUL WELSH WORDS !getting to my heart strings. to long gone me!! still smell the green grass of home.

  • WHY isn't this girl more widely known of?

  • Beside the sea there are red roses Beside the sea there're lovely lillies Beside the sea my sweetheart lives Asleep at night & awake at morning. Cold is the frost & cold the snowfall Cold the house without fire in winter Cold is the church without a vicar Cold am I without my lover. Wonder's the home & yonder the building Where I've spent many a happy evening In the loft there above the kitchen With the girl with the yellow ribbon.
  • This was the first Cerys Matthews video i ever saw, about a year ago. I now count myself among her greatest fans! I love her version of this song, very sexy and fun.

  • Go to Google and enter 'Ar Lan y Mor lyrics'. It's the second song down. Kind regards.

  • Does anyone have the lyrics for this beautiful song? the internet never seems to work for me when I try to look up Welsh lyrics.

  • dwn hoffi'r lan y mor .....ar yr laith ...maen hwyl ,,,....caru ty cerys xx

  • Long live Cerys Matthews what a girl

  • Very nice version, different from the normal rendering of this beautiful Welsh song.

  • For those unfamiliar, a Welsh friend told me recently that this is a Welsh love song, whose title means 'On the Seashore'. Love the video.

  • @thesquareofthehypote actually the title is translated to by the seaside

  • @CezBambi93 Well, a literal translation would be 'up on the sea', but I don't think it really matters.

  • what does it mean though? Yaheedah Bob Cmyru...
