Good thoughts pimp! However similar to the other comments I've left on your vidz I'm into sci-fi and comic movies for the special effects aspects and I not being a Watchmen fan previously and not knowing much about them beforehand took away from this. Too deep for me! Thanx.

Watchmen might be my favourite film ever

Great review!!! Especially liked your points beginning @ 3:48. Further your points, this movie is particularly poignant in this post 9/11, Iraq, Abu Ghraib, Katrina, Economy meltdown period we're experiencing. As you say; when one decides how to tackle a problem their are always difficult moral implications that come with it. Rorschach tried hard to be uncompromisingly just, but his medicine is soo hard to swallow.

Societies expectaions of its 'heros' as depicted in the film are also echoed in real life. I'm thinking about Bush standing on the ruble of the WTC with a bullhorn in hand and a firefighter at his side telling us "soon our enemies will hear us".

Or how about those who are looking to Obama 'hope without a cape', to pull us from economic meltdown vs those talking heads on TV like Rush who tell us he is destroying this country. There truely are no flawless heros with flawless answers ...Ghandi, MLK, Lincoln all had kinks in their armor ...just like the characters in Watchmen. (PS I've never wrtten such a long comment before!!)

I didn't finish reading the comic all the way through before seeing the film. I was still just as impressed though on how faithful the imagery is to the graphic novel.

This movie was not intended for common people or common man! What is being depicted in this movie is frightening in its implications. At the end the Adrian Veidt says to Rorschach "do you seriously think I would explain my master stroke to you if their were even the slightest possibility you could effect the out come! I triggered it 35 min ago!" The movie was filled wit Masonic symbolism!! It was so profound, When I was leaving the threater I felt bank, numb, defeated!!!

True that, but to be more exact...if you do good you are one of the few that CAN sleep at night and can take a huge ass sigh and account for all the things you did do when it could have been easier if you didn't - something the story by Moore (in my opinion) should have ended off with. The good still come out on top...not in this system but in another for sure.

Great review! I've read the graphic novel probably 50 times, and my mind is blown after seeing the movie. Unbelievably dense in the information you need to process. Not for people who want their entertainment spoon fed to them. Was a little disappointed with some of the dialog changes, but other than that the movie is amazing.

Thats a problem with a lot of people they dont think. they like being told how to think.

i liked the review, because you could tell that things about the movie kept popping into your head as you went on. those are always the best movies, the ones that have you thinking about it hours or days later. i'm a fan of the book, can't wait to see the flick.

sometimes i think the message of nice guys finishing last and doing the right thing always gets ya screwed, is done w/ the intent to get in your head and condition to think that way. so many people go around w/ the why bother, nothing is gonna change attitude, which is exactly what the BAD guys want you to think. just my 2 cents =)
