my friend was telling me how kobe was reaching michael jordans level and crazy stuff like that then i told him there's no comparison at all. then this kid hears us and gets in it on how michael is on another planet and a whole group of people started calling him stupid for even using kobe in the same sentence as michael. for me thats enough proof that michaels the greatest of all time
@rstoyboy72 Comparing Kobe to MJ only shows your age. You have to be 18 years old and never got to see Jordan play. 18 or mentally challenged. Either way, I feel bad for you. There is a reason why even the players themselves that never got a ring BECAUSE of him still admit that he is the greatest of all time.
@rstoyboy72 taffykill is right.you haven't seen mj play i know kobe is a great player but saying that kobe is better than him is a fiction young man...
I'm 14 and i'm like a really big fan of him he's my favorite player of all time i'm just stating even kids these days are familiar with jordan. and by the way you can tell that was skill ;)
come on, greatest buzzer beater in NBA history? this wasn't even the 4th q or OT buzzer. If its beating the 1st, 2nd or 3rd quarter buzzers, don't bother calling it a buzzer beater cuz its really not that relevant to earn that title. It is Jordan and its a great shot but come on buzzer beater implies that it significantly impacted the game's outcome. This did not.
@TheHeReTiiK right but we all know that the connotation of buzzer beater is that it is a hugely clutch shot that won a game, forced overtime or at least appeared to do one of those, its the reason people get excited to see them and find them on youtube. There's always a disappointment when its a 1st, 2nd or 3rd q ending and none of those can be considered great because they arent clutch...even if it is MJ who is the greatest, lets be real here. All of his 28 game winners matter more than this.
This is pretty good. Not the best though. I still say the best is Jerry West's half court shot at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. But this shot is still win.
@tyakack I don't see Lebron with 6 championship rings, a PPG average that rivals the great Wilt Chamberlain and an even higher one in the playoffs, a nearly unstoppable fadeaway, and 2nd all time in steals amongst other things. You're just plain ignorant.
@darkink0218 I posted that last comment just to piss off jordan fanboys and lebron haters, i dont even like lebron, but im not a hater!!! people hate on lebron so much so i stick up for him sometimes.

hmmm i dont know...kobe's buzzer beater vs. the heat might be better...just because of the degree of difficulty of that shot and having d-wade all over him and because it was a GAME-WINNER, not a quarter ender or something like this
The thing that always impressed me about these types of half court/really long distance shots by MJ was the fact that he still SHOT the ball. He didn't just chuck it up, or sling it with all his might. It was still a JUMP SHOT with correct form! Just shows MJ's upper body strength.
@Intramorph it isn't just strength its technique... I have done some half court shots myself. Trust me, it's not the strength that decide. It's really still all in the flick of the risk and the arm direction... the legs is just to have you balanced...
Yeah, Jordan was incredibly strong for his size. The guy was skinny and out muscled guys that were 20-30 pounds heavier than he was. The guy was a freak of nature, when I saw him play it was like watching a missle going up and down the court, he was fast and never seemed to get tired in his prime.
@Intramorph Lebron does this a lot as well. He rarely just chucks it up, and always maintains his forms even for half-court buzzer beaters. By the way i am not trying to start a debate about which player is better, just thought it was worth pointing out...
@Intramorph Both Lebron and D-Rose have hit half court shots like this recently Alot of players in the NBA can do this, Not knockin MJ though hes still the G.O.A.T
What da hell you calling me 'abudi' for? And how can something 'manifest' an 'evident' level of true skill? That sentence doesn't make the slightest bit of sentence grammatically

if you mean "buzzer beater" as a noun, wehre MICHAEL JORDAN is the greatest buzzer beater the NBA has ever seen then i def agree with you.
But MJ has had MANY buzzer beaters much better than this both in skill and importance.

Awesome shot but NOWHERE near being the greatest buzzer beater in NBA history. Let's not get carried away here.
Jase291981 2 years ago
It's an amazing shot because he didn't throw it up and hope for the best. Buzzer beaters from that range are luck, with Jordan, it was pure skill.
abudi20 2 years ago 40
Well said abudi.
What distinguishes this from other "miraculous" buzzer beaters is that this one manifested an evident level of true skill, not just luck.

A great buzzer beater but it wasn't the winning shot.
I still think his shot in the deciding game of the 1st round at Cleveland in 1989 was the greatest buzzer beater in NBA history. Just my opinion.
Now what is not subject to serious debate is that Michael Jordan is the GREATEST NBA PLAYER OF ALL TIME.
