I don't personally think that human sacrifice was as integral to ancient Celtic Polytheism as most people believe. Those that were sacrificed were often either criminals or war-captives from rival tribes. In the main, I don't think that individual Celtic tribes or kingdoms needed to placte the Gods in such a way all of the time.

I also regard the child-sacrifices of the Carthaginians as an overblown propaganda myth as well.

It's interesting how nations that practiced human sacrifice were usually stopped by empire builders such as the romans. they stopped the child killings from the Carthaginians and the sacrifices of the celts. The spaniards brought the aztecs to their knees and their mass sacrifices. God has a way of punishing evil doers with other war like people.

Killing people by sacrifice wasn't viewed as something horrible by the Celts, the Carthaginians, or the Aztec. Being sacrificed was usually an honor that lead to a favorable afterlife. Among the Aztec, being sacrificed was one of the few ways to get into one of the "heavens". Christians killed more people in the name of their religion, than any culture that sacrificed people did.

I would say that Zorostrianism is actually a pretty tolerant faith, for example they expanded into Buddhist Afghanistan and Pakistan, the Sassanids, but they never forced their religion upon the Buddhist Afghans or Pakistanis, Judaism is more tolerant than Christianity and Islam, because it does not proselytize, but you are right.

The older a religion gets, the more tolerant it becomes. In the beginning, Zoroastrianism was forced upon his subjects by a king Zoroaster converted. The Israelites killed entire tribes for worshiping a different god, so they aren't any better. Christianity and Islam are just plain evil. I never heard of Zorostrianism being forced upon his subject, plus that was the king, not Zorostrianism. I don't think that is true, that as time goes by, a religion becomes more tolerant, for example look at Islam. Christianity only has to act tolerant because of Western law and so forth, and I don't think I have ever heard in the Bible to stone men who shave.

Some of this is not accurate the romans did not fight the celts, because unlike other people they fought the celts had everyone in the family involved in the war, and the romans did not want to fight an army with women in it.
