  • I love her! I wish she'd come forward one last time! When I was a little girl (back in the 50s and early 60s) people used to tell me I looked like I could be her daughter because I looked like what you would have imagined how she looked as a child. I was so flattered and have always loved Doris! She has a wonderful voice and was a wonderful actress! I loved all of her movies!

  • Man what a great voice

  • What an incredible tribute!! And Doris just sings the song, ... beautifully. No vocal tricks, no gimmicks, just that beautiful voice. I love her and God bless her.

  • Wonderful - made me cry !

  • pure and beautiful

  • Great video, wonderful women DORIS DAY. When I was young in Argentina, I've seen his films with Hudson, Grant and another big men of the world cinema. Pleas excuse my English but I need to improve it. How old is she now ? I always love she. Thank for your emotions and your amazing films. Best regards.

  • Doris Day- Voice of an Angel ,

A Woman of Valor- "She needs no praise, her deeds are the most eloquent testimony to her greatness." Proverb 31:31 Annotations in Stone Edition Torah

  • Doris co-starred with all those male movie stars? Years ago, they, in turn, should have done a tribute for starring with HER (but YT wasn't available then). I'm sure Gable, Grant, Sinatra, Hudson, etc, all realized they were co-starring with someone very special.

  • I've always loved Doris. When I was a little girl people used to tell me I looked like I could have been her daughter! I was always soooo flattered! Her movies were so great for the 50s and 60s. She's a true icon!

  • Oh my! I remember watching her sing this when the show originally aired. I was really astounded how many leading men she had worked with! Thanks for this bit of my past!

  • doris is the day

  • Remember the way we were. Now that's the way they are. Don't have to like it. That's how it is.

  • @brevvy .....Excellent point!!!

  • how is it that one woman could have all the gifts she had.marvelous

  • @bswann2 Because only angels have all those marvelous gifts and that is what she is, an angel.

  • @brevvy because there idoits x

  • as beautful as ever such a wondeful lady x

  • She is the true star of her era! :)

  • The beautiful Doris Day: What can we say; As a little boy she was my dream and still is today plus she is such a good person.

  • I'll never forget the wonderful moments with my little sister us as children sitting in a darkened theater watching this wonder woman, and just loving her. And i still do.

  • Artists is one of the most comprehensive and attractive personality, I'm a fan of his movies ... Thanks for the movies and songs he performed, I see them whenever I can ... Blessings wherever you are!

  • The most beautiful woman.... ever!

  • It's a shame Doris and Barbara didn't do a duet of this!

  • Barbra who? Doris is number one!

  • Number 1 entertainer of the last century. Movies, televison and a great singer!

  • I'm sorry but she sucks. Barbra is much better.

  • Always have admired you Doris Day! I wanted to look like you, walk like you, sing like you,act like you!!

    Your biggest fan,

    Peggy

  • @lemonpeg1 I was the same way. I watched her show and would play her part. I want to be just like her. Wish I would have an opportunity to tell her how much I have enjoyed her shows and movies and music all my life. She is a special person. They certainly dont make them like her anymore. Love you Doris.

  • Doris lived through the golden age of hollywood, such talent, some of us will not forget.

  • love her voice

  • just because shes not like these so called stars now a days.. she didn't have to cus or get naked.. she just had to show up act and use her amazing voice in song.. thats what makes a true star

  • how do you get her song on here

  • She is the voice ........and only she is

  • Doris Day is not about "sexy" is about TALENT and ENERGY and HAPPINESS.

  • so much better than that other womans version...... Happy Birthday Ms Day..

  • I have no idea why so many people say she was not sexy. Of course she was. She was quite something.

  • Sofiahaus..qué grato me resulta reencontrarme con una mujer tan eternamente humana

  • Remarkable is an outstanding choice of words for Doris Day... I never knew she was singing at an advanced age. She was one of those Hollywood personalities that made Hollywood Golden in the 1950's and 60's. Remarkable singer, dancer and actress.... no one in the 21st century comes close to what Doris Day did from the 1940's on. Thanks to YouTube for making these great performances available to both old people and young people who never personally experienced the Golden Hollywood.

  • There will never be anyone to ever replace Doris, will always live in the hearts of all her fans and friends, what a voice, what a smile, what wonderful movies, Doris you will never be forgotten, Happy Birthday April 3rd, May God bless you always my sweet friend.. Barb from Alabama

  • can some one help me where can I buy the CD with this song?

  • I love Miss Day!

  • God, how I love that woman!! She could sing, act, and do whatever she set out to do! She does a terrific job with this song!

  • She was my pin-up girl back in the 50s when i was in the Army in Germany. One very sweet girl next door type.

  • I have loved Doris Day all my life! I have all her movies! I used to try and sing all her songs and immitate her style! I always told my Mother she looked just like her. She did!

  • She`s the best thing that ever happened to the silver screen, she`s an uplifting character with her own special style one thing she never robbed from another actor of theirs. she is well and truely unique, she will always have a very special part in our hearts.

  • DOES SHE STILL SING?

  • When I see those tabloid pictures where she appears isolated and alone in that big house, I makes me very sad.America really needs her spirit now, and I'm sorry she's chosen to withdraw from her former life.Great loss for all of us.

  • @tet43 Sometimes when u are in the Hollywood spotlight for too long that lifestyle suddenly defines who you are and "YOU" can get lost in the hooplah...then u need to take a step back, retreat, regroup... suddenly you realize what's more important to you cause you are looking from the outside in at a world that isn't real. I honestly don't think she has given up hollywood forever just her priorities have changed and she's much older now and has lived a full life outside of la la land.

  • @toemeraldcity I suppose you're right. Seeing her now wouldn't be the same anyway.Ah....The way we were>

  • this video can't possibly be from 1975 it looks more like the 80's

  • @PatrickLHawkins

yeah, and if its supposed to be for the men sho have died, james cagney dies 1986,so this was in the 80's

  • @KURISUCHRIS99 I think it's a tribute to the men she has worked with. Because not all the men that appear over her shoulder have passed. I guess it could be 1975 but it sure does look more like the 80's to me.

  • A touching version. I love it so much better than Barbra's version. This song really makes a person think about the past especially when something happens to a loved one. Thanks for posting!

  • Is this from one of her tv specials?

  • Amazing artist:)))))

  • what a wonderful remarkable woman , God bless you Doris I love you xxx

  • What a remarkable woman indeed. God Bless you.

  • Simply, we choose her

what a wonderful voice and unfortunatly forgotten :-(

  • @mvyr Not by me pal ! Doris Day is getting 86 yo this year, and still one of the best singers of the last century.

  • @mvyr I am 48 and rememeber Doris Day from her weekly T.V. series. I guess I mean to say not forgotten at all. Her beauty, voice and acting left a lasting impression in many of our hearts and minds.

  • @mvyr She will never be forgotten by me. I have always wanted her to be my Mother I still do and I am 46. I Love you Ms. Day I always have and always will. Neno

  • @BonsaiNeno

    Didnt you have a mother?

  • her voice gives me chills

  • Comment removed

  • are there any videos/photos of doris from the last 5 years?

  • Doris indeed has been offered an honorary Oscar and Kennedy Center Honor but she has graciously declined. It may be that at this point in her life the last thing she wants to do is dress up and travel to get an award. She worked hard all her life for the beautiful home and productive life of service she is living now. She may feel that is the best award she could ever want.

  • Did they put vaseline on the camera lens?

  • @mrspatrickcampbell Haha. funny

  • @mrspatrickcampbell It's not vaseline. I saw the original show, and it was clear as a bell. This is just a poor copy!

  • I love Doris. Sorry her son passed. I think Doris has a phenom ability to overcome and be positive and why she lives long time. she was always a happy go lucky kinda gal

  • That's my favorite version of the song after Barbra's.

Doris is phenomenal! I wish I could meet her... maybe one day.

  • 53 yrs old here and still slamming gorgeous!!!

  • What's nice to remember is that when she did this nostaligic number, all those guys were still alive and active. Garner in "Rockford", Hudson in "McMillen and Wife", Sinatra still singing and touring, Douglas, Niven and Stewert on the tube and the silver screen. Only Gable was gone and Grant retired.. My God, what talent she worked with and what a classy lady Doris is. She's the definition of legend.

  • I have always thought this was the most underrated talent in Hollywood. It was tragic she left the industry and I cannot believe she has not even an honorary Oscar. She is beyond legend status. She actually is a legend with limitless talents that have graced the silver screen. Her latest loss tears my heart out.

  • I love Doris, she was loyal to the end to Rock and sings so beautifully

  • I love Doris !!!

  • she's still so pretty

  • This lady is timeless, and deserving of her beloved status. A true icon. Doris has is a gift to this world.

  • As I watch these pictures, what year was this Academy Award Ceremony captured? I recognize the pictures but don't recall the year they passed.

  • @tvviewer46 It's not an Academy Award show ... the video is taken from her 1975 t.v. special, "Doris Day Today."

  • One of our greatest singers.

Too bad the musical arrangement isn't that good.

  • She was so nice to Rock Hudson when he was sick. That was back in the day when the Christians were the last ones to go to if you had AIDS. Doris is great.

  • She is wonderfullll.

  • This clip is from '75? The hairstyle and clothing style doesn't go along with '75. Its more like '85. maybe even later, she's got the 'Dynasty' hairdo that Crystal wore.

  • Doris is very talented love her singing her acting and just love the beautiful person she is, nobody gave her the star she is xxxxxxx way to go Doris love you

  • sorry this started after she began singing. Lovely montage of her co-stars who aren't alive anymore (most of them) and her singing that song. Very poignant.

    ~ Peggy

  • Love Doris!

  • great singer with heart and soul

  • Miss Day, thank you, im 51 and was lucky enough to have a mum who was a fan, you should have kept going lady, you would put all these youngsters to shame,God bless and keep you, Your a star that will forever shine and never fade,,, XXXXX

  • Wow. So beautiful a lady, so beautiful a song. All her co-stars she outlived except James Garner.

  • @damienrecords And Kirk Douglas

  • Certainly a class act by any standards. Great voice, good actress and a wonderful personality that shone through most of the characters she portrayed.

To those who are writing wicked things about her, just remember...........she is loved world wide, and her popularity hasnt seemed to wan. You on the other hand, cowardly hide behind a keyboard and pretend to have something to say which you obviously know nothing about,.Chatman was right, never get into a battle of wits with an unarmed opponant.

  • I just adore Doris Day. Iloved all the movies with her and Rock Hudson. What an Icon. She truly deserves more recognition than she ever got. If I had a chance to ever meet her it would be the happiest day of my life. God bless her always. What a beautiful person and that voice of hers. I love you Doris Day and always will.

  • All you irritated fans should understand that Doris turns down all award offers and has for over a decade. The Oscars and The Kennedy Center Honors have both offered to honor her, but she has declined. Stars are always approached about these things in advance, so they can accept or not. For whatever reason Doris doesn't want that kind of public celebration. Go figure.

  • Doris Day saluting Rock Hudson.

  • Terrific version of this song....makes you wish Doris had done more recording during the 70's and 80's.....One of the Best!!!!!!!!

  • Honorary Oscar for Doris Day!

  • What a lovely version of this song. Makes me shed a tear for Rock Hudson. Too young to remember this show but love Doris. I read somewhere she said that she was just an ordinary person not someone to be in awe of. She probably wouldn't even turn up for an Oscar but she deserves several.

  • VIVA DORIS,beautiful

  • doris day... the one and only.. : )

  • @IXReiveStarsIX I remember that show . It was great fun. Doris and John joked about their real names, both of German origin(Doris Kapelhof & Henry John Deutschendorf Jr) & Doris did a lovely rendition of Midnight at the Oasis, with JD dressed as a sheik behind a bush. Too bad they don't really make variety specials any more, they were very entertaining. Both Doris & Denver were VASTLY underrated as lovely, charismatic entertainers, and decent human beings.Hopefully one day that will change.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG BRINGS BACK MEMORIES I MISS MY MUM AND DAD SO MUCH BUT THE LORD IS LOOKING AFTER THEM NOW UNTIL I ARRIVE LOVE sHIRLS XX

  • Someone once said of Doris, there is so much talent in her performing that it is hard to focus on her acting ( comedic timing). Doris Day also was to sing at the Oscars in 1954 but did not appear due to a breakdown on the Warners Set. This irritated the Academy I'm sure. Lets do the right thing in 2011 give her an Oscar.

  • Such great movies they all made together ...memories for sure...

  • Paul Newman, James Garner, Frank Sinatra, James Cagney, David Niven, Jimmy Durante, Ronald Reagan ,James Francisca, Kirk Douglas, Cary Grant, Clark Gable, She had some of the greatest leading men in her career. Did I get them all right?

  • I didnt realize Miss Day had outlived so many of her leading men—-all of them in fact and then some. And still she retains her beauty and the voice that has sustained aficionados and new fans through six decades! When is Hollywood going to recognize this magnificent woman with a Life Achievement Award !?!

  • She never got to be on tour like she wanted to do I hear. That is sad, she deserves to be seen in all across the nation. Id love to see her once just once.

  • Doris Day - "number 1" entertainer of the 20th Century.

  • Happy Birthday Doris!!!!! Thank you for all you have given us!!!! We love you and always will! You are amazing!!!!!!

Mere words cannot our admiration and respect!!!!!

  • Great video... She is fabulous..

  • One of the best i sent for an autograph she sent back a big one signed with my name on.

  • Oh, the memories. What a marvelous talent and a marvelous woman. She never buckled under to her circumstances. Look up class in the dictionary, you'll see Doris Day!

  • A great talent. An even greater humanitarian.

  • I LOVE this woman (and I'm only in my 30's). Watching this clip...it made me sad, because, while Ms. Day is here, we're not eternal. Her birthday's coming up. I know she does that radio call-in on the west coast. I only wish her happiness.

  • great voice , super !

  • Over 600 recordings, a great voice, a box office star and a hit TV show. Number one entertainer of the 20th century?

  • oscar levant said i knew doris day before she was a virgin

  • 86 this year april 3 shes great ive got all her movies i was 10 when i first saw her movie calamity jane my fav movie but i watch all of them over and again

  • One of the greatest ever in Hollywood.

A versatile and super talented artist.

I never heard this song by her. I'm going to look and see if I can find the cd. Everything she did was superb!

  • Our all time favorite girl next door and such a advocate for animals - the Oscars should recognize this wonderful woman who bought us all so much pleasure - keep smiling Doris!

  • others are jimmy cagney, cary grant , david niven, ronald reagan, frank sinatra. and cary grant. there is 2 faces I'm not sure of. This video was terrific. to bad it was alot clearer. love doris day.

  • I forgot who said it, I think it was Don Rickles, but I love the joke "I knew Doris Day before she was a virgin". LOL. She definitely is in a class of her own. I also respect the fact that she knew when to stop singing. Not many entertainers know when to call it quits. Instead they prefer to devour their reputation just to be treated like a star and get standing ovations simply because their old and not because they deserved them.

  • I'm surprised Rock Hudson was not shown. They were the best of friends

  • @njchrissiface ...the first one shown was Rock Hudson.

  • Two of the gentlemen I recognized, Kirk Douglas and James Garner, are still alive.

  • Very touching tribute to all her co-stars. Lovely rendition of The Way We Were. She looks beautiful in this video. Interesting, at the time this was done, all but two or three of the men were deceased, now they are all gone. Doris is still chugging along with the rest of us. Thanks for sharing such a nice clip.

  • Doris Day is by far a women of women she stands for everything gracious an glorius her liftime devtion for bettering man kind and truly trying to better everyday life for us all it is a true shame she hasnt won an does indeed cast a shadow on any organization that only lets men/women who pay for the honor of being a"winner" when in fact they only let people win who pay in one way or another its very sad !!! she should have won an they should recognize her great contributations to the world!!!

  • Todos ellos fueron sus novios?

  • todos ellos fueron sus novios pero todos en una sola vez, jajajajaja

  • she brought a warmth and a feeling of well being to the movie goer back then .

  • doris day is a true talent and because the Academy has not recognized her work yet is a shame and a shadow on the whole industry. She was great

  • So much for the quality.

  • The Academy should be ashamed after all these years,a true professional and a American idol.

  • @kitwann1 From what I hear people are campaigning for her to receive one but she is not willing to travel.

I guess we should respect her wishes. But it would be ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL to see these days, on that stage, someone like James Garner, someone who actually worked with her and knows her, introduce her, her legacy, to see clips of her movies (and not just Pillow Talk please), and everyone standing up and honoring her. Dreams....

  • @kitwann1 I agree, The Academy of Motion Pictures & Sciences should recognize Miss Day, for her body of work. Hollywood wastes so much $ on trashy films, you'd think they'd send a member of their board, to Doris' residence & present her w/the Statuette. The sentiment would give this Great legend the honor she deserves. Let Miss Day know while she is still with us that she hasn't been forgotten & acknowledge that she is one of the last great living legends of our time.

  • One of the greatest and most attractive ladies in the entertainment business! If the Academy should recognize her contribution to the history of modern cinema/radio/tv, it would be a long-overdue acknowledgement!! Love you,Doris!

  • Secret Love wont Best Song Oscar - Doris never won - - but folks at the Academy are gunning for a Lifetime (Honorary) Oscar. We shall see.

  • i think doris won an oscar for calamity jane

  • No she didn't, but I wish she had! =)

  • hi, it must have been the song from calam. that won. secret love,,, but, it was her song, and, i think she did it twice,

  • Secret Love!!!

  • ist lay tufur damay perl yam ke poo

  • Doris Day você é demais!

  • Why Doris don't have a OSCAR ????

    Academy Wake Up

  • @sarocammar

Doris did one movie on which she got nominated for best actress. She did not win. Her movies were not Oscar material. Maybe an honorary Oscar would be good.

Just the fact that she does a lot of work for animals and animal adoption, is good enough for me.

  • @Monrocsol, Agree 100 %. The honorary oscar is way overdue.

  • @Monrocsol .

MAYBE? are you kidding? an Oscar, a Grammy and an Emmy are long over due.

And how about a Kennedy Center Honor if she doesn't already have one.

The lack of respect for Miss Day is a appalling

  • @sarocammar Great singer, number 1 box office at the movies and a hit TV series, The Academy is a joke!

  • @sarocammar That's a Good Bloody Question!!! She's a real triple threat- I love her!

  • @sarocammar NEWMAN DONT HAVE ONE EITHERITS A MYSTERY

  • the line "what's too painfull to remember we simply choose to forget" oh if that was only true. we may push it back far in our memory, but do we ever forger?

  • what an absolutely disgusting thing to say you sack of dog droppings!!!

  • With age comes wisdom

  • Oh, I see. You are of the mindset that anyone whose political viewpoint differs from yours is a "disturbed" person. Hmmm, last time I check that was called "bigotry" or "intolerance" or "narrow-mindedness." Take your pick. I have a better description of people like you: "IGNORANT."
