  • Yes i know its grappling but at 1:35 he put himself in position for a body sicores!!! AKA. HES DONE

  • this works! but difficult on too big weight difference opponent .

  • @punking12341 Why would you try to grapple a larger opponent in the first place? Unless there's a huge skill gap you'll get mooshed no matter what you do.

  • @LemonNation with good skills you can submit most untrained opponents. ofcorse weight makes it more difficualt, but with practising your techniques over and over again, you have a good chance of winning.

its more dangerous to do standing (boxning/kicks) with an opponent who weighs a lot, because he can hit you with a lucky ponch.

    cheers

  • @punking12341 That's why I said, "unless there's a huge skill gap."

  • why is everyone doubting marcelo lol this is just one of the many take downs he shows

  • i don't like that technique so much..just my opinion anyways

  • why not just sweep the leg?

  • Great question!

  • @FrostyTheOatmealBoy will take you off balance, safer way of doing it. But yeah no reason why not

  • @FrostyTheOatmealBoy His technique leads you into a side mount

  • this technique is hard to do, if your opponent knows what he's doing or if he's strong enough, he can get out of this easyly...

  • this technique works.

there's a zilion single leg finish variations.

  • you could transition to an armbar or triangle on the bottom end of this takedown

  • Yeah, but remember that this is sport grappling, not meant for self-defense

  • @Vash1202 no not at all!!! its kinda meant for self defense i guess that what martial arts for

  • thats awesome!

  • lets say a grade 8 was trying to do it ... would it work or would the about 120 pounder be too heavy?

  • if you get the leg it should be possible...in grade 8 i was 120 or a bit under...so the weight diff shouldnt be too big...also onceyou have the leg...weight shouldnt really be an issue....you have to watch out for him crushing you when you shoot for the leg

  • great technique, thanx for posting these videos.

  • oh my god! look the kid's feet! :))) how tin...omg

  • gotta be extremely careful to keep your head in the right position when you first pin the leg, otherwise you could get guillotined.

  • what happens when he grabs his head and delivers a full on knee to your face you got his leg?

  • you dont do it this slow.

  • holy shit is pauly shore talking?

  • Hey Raymardo, why dont you shut the fuck up, or better yet, why dotn you punch matcelo and watch what happens....god I hate people like you.

  • dude marcelo is by far the best pound for pound bjj practioner. and that seriously is no joke.

  • Researching "head control" and "hand control" would be a good starting point for you to learn to defend this (and similar) techniques. When combined with striking, they're effective against many unmodified wrestling maneuvers.

  • Strikes would stop this takedown in an MMA match. Good for wrestling, but punches would nullify its effectiveness.

  • right, cuz punching with one leg out in front of you wouldnt completely throw off your balance or anything huh? hence..the TAKEDOWN, cuz youd probably fall if you tried. even BJ PENN doesnt throw with one leg in the air and he has superior balance. ya know it all wannabee showoff....

  • At 2:13, Marcello pulls his opponent to him and supports the fighter when he places a hand behind his back. This allows the opponent to strike to the face without losing balance. He can punch with the right left hand and use his right hand in a variety of ways for balance control.

In wrestling, this is quite an effective technique where one doesn't have to defend strikes. In MMA, its use should be limited, and its application modified.

  • at 2:13 you wouldnt spend more than a split second in that position

if you actually done grappling you would realise that

stop trying to sound smart about what you know fuck all about

  • A whizzer - amongst other techniques - allows more than a second in that position. Wrestlers commonly spend time there. That's why it's dangerous in MMA unmodified.

The defensive combatant needs to use his right hand for balance and control of his opponent.

It's necessary to have more than an observatory knowledge of MMA, wrestling, and grappling to understand the techniques addressed in this post.

  • who cares your punches would have no power in them they would just be annoying.

  • Hey Raymardo...do you actually think you have 45secs to a min to THINK about striking ??? Or maybe better yet...trying to defend the TAKEDOWN so you don't get owned by a full mount?

Dude...you are retarded. Ask ANY MMA fighter and they will tell you...wrestling is a great foundation (no matter what form it is).
