Ok I was able to do everything , the only change in my phone I see so far it the SDX bootup screen. When I open the tethering program I get two messages "No Root" and "No Netfilter" what did I do wrong?

i have to use a virtual machine (parallels) to do it, and i've gotten everything rite up to the point where i have to attach the phone, it keeps giving me this error saying that the virtual machine cannot connect to the divice rite now, please try again later. It won't recognize it from either side, mac or vista any way i have everything like the developer stuff turned on on the phone side, i just don't know how to make my computer know it's there someone please help!!!

I have a quick question i flashed ok doing a lil "customizing" everything works great excpet for tethering and i notice i plug my usb into my phone and my phone doesnt prompt me to mount anymore..? is there a reason for this? im running windows 7 i uninstalled samsung usb drivers on my computer reconnected and it wont install the drivers.. anyone have this problem or know how to fix it?

Just bring your phone back to factory settings (menu>privacy>set phone to factory settings), all info will be lost so make sure contacts are backed up with google.

@305TiiGgER the ps3 can not see adhoc networks. that is what the moment wi-fi really is, not a true wi-fi network. you can connect the phone to a computer and then with the computer use internet connection sharing, and host a real wi-fi network that the ps3 can see, and then the computer will direct the ps3 to use the moments internet. that is the only way currently possible to connect the ps3 to the moment I am aware of.

the easiest way I can think of would be to get a wifi router. Wal-Mart carries them. decide which router to buy and just follow the directions in the manual to set it up. your ps3 will be able to see it. then, you will need a usb dongle ( a wi-fi card that plugs into a usb) for the computer. install it and connect to the adhoc on your phone. then you will need to search the net for "internet connection sharing" for the version of windows you have. I don't remember, and don't run windows either.

@hzaratep7 nevermind!! guys if u cant mount just do the following.

Turn OFF "USB debugging". Go to Settings, Applications, Development, uncheck USB debugging. Next goto the phone, Click Notifications, Click USB Icon, Mount USB Drive. May need to reboot phone if icon on phone didnt show up. Just leave the USB cable in phone and comp during reboot.

IF you having problems getting your computer to recognized the device try opening the device manager finding the Samsung composite device under usb disable and then enabling the device. I sat there followed the directions and nothing happened when i tired this it recognized it right away

I was able to update the phone it completely reset, however when I went to open the file on my computer to access my phone it did not read the phone at all. Therefore I was not able to move the file to my phone that I need. Any idea why or what I need to do to complete this?

My moment came with 2.1 (Eclair) Will this video still work? I tried following your steps nontheless, and it kind of hangs after I click start software download. It says ready, and [DEBUG] SetupConnection and does nothing else. Any alternative method I could use? Thanks!

You just have to keep trying, and on older machines (and sometimes even on newer machines) it may take a while for the process to begin.

I already rooted my Moment with 2.1 about a month ago and setup all my apps, themes, etc.. Can I just perform the steps from 6:30 into the video for applying the kernel (for the WiFi tether) without it deleting all of my settings, themes, apps, etc. from my previous 2.1 upgrade?  It's just the WiFi piece I'm really after at this point....

If you have joeykrim's recovery installed, then yes. Be advised, this will flash you back to the theme template however. But just reflash your current theme AFTER applying this kernel, and you should be alright.
