  • aww too bad it doesnt sound much like an original 59 :(

  • what guitar is that? deluxe?

  • come on guy's "volume at 2 o'clock? what's that? why say 2 o'clock when we don't know what "o'clock" zero is.....understand ? 0 could be 12, ,6 ect ect even 0 can be 7 try this "volume is on 2..5...12 or 10" or try " p'egged

  • @fasteddie925 You're either an idiot, or don't know what an analog clock is. It refers to the position of the knob as if it was a hand on a clock's face.

  • @fasteddie925 2 o'clock is where the nob is pointing the way the hands a clock would at two o'clock...its a very widely used way to describe the direction the nob is pointing...

  • This guy (Jason) is fine...and so is the review. I think there are 'problem' people out there that need to get over themselves.

  • 6l6 c

  • I want one!!!!

  • Everyone's an expert on the fucking internets.

  • I love the way this amp sounds. This is the sound I wish I could get from other tweeds.

  • @mattownsu95 I will get a hobo to give your kids a "metal dan"

  • Hey World Music Supply, with videos like this, the only world you could be selling amps to are ants. no one can hear this amp and the tones you get suck. lose the mic headset please and play some guitar. as frank zappa would say, shut and play yer guitar.

  • you salivate too much

  • Toca uma base o miseravel..

  • There's tons of foam on the wall but I can still hear a huge amount of room reverb...

  • dude, its a bass amp.

  • @FlesjesMetWater Learn history, it was originally built for bass but sounded better for guitars, you balded headed scaly wag with a big ass pussy with teeth fucktard butt monkey..... By the way I gave your mom a Brazilian Flapjack. Look it up on Urban dictionary.

  • @mattownsu95 yeah

  • @mattownsu95 Wow, you sound SOOOO cool saying that. For the record, in my opinion it sounds equally as good on bass or guitar. Yes, the originals, not these. These use guitar speakers that would crap out under a bass.

  • @FlesjesMetWater The original bassman were very popular with guitarists because of the distortion characteristics. The bassman has a warm distorion that comes in on the peak signal producing the classic elusive 60s sound. This was before fuzz, distortion and overdrives were invented.

  • Excellent review !!!

  • Is this amp very good with pedals?

  • He just needs to drink some water as he loves to stop mid sentence and smack his lips as he swallows lol

  • @Udonitron lol

  • I love the cascade efcet when the a and b chanles are conected.much like early marshals.Dig.

  • Is it just me, or does the miking in this video not do the bassman justice? This amp sounds A LOT better than what it sounds like here.

  • @ebeatworld Hmmm...well a 4/10 setup always sounds better in person than some cheap speakers and who knows what mic from a YouTube video!

  • Uhh

  • Does somebody have a demo of this amp played with bass???? I just want to hear what it sounds like with bass because it's originally designed for bass.

  • the way this guy says "UHH" in everysentance makes me wanna find his mother and slap her.

  • Whoops I meant to click on the gearwire review

  • It's the Swallowing Man !

  • Don't you think these amplifiers sound better if they are pushed a little harder? The low volume sounds very sterile and stiff>

  • @fyrcrack that mic does this amp no justice lol, the amp has to be cranked to hell to get any breakup, as it IS a originally a bass amp ;)

  • you and every single human that does the same job like you is extremely lucky!!im dying to do a job like that, even if i dont get paid!!you are soooo lucky! nice demo btw :)

  • Dig into that fucking thing and quit playing like a pussy!

  • you said SHORT CABLE

  • Too many solo. No groove ;(

  • Beauty

  • This is a beautiful amp. I just got one in mint condition at craigslist for $800.

  • Smooth

  • I've saved for two years for the ideal amp for goodtonejazz, fusion, or blues with a good clean sound with my american deluxe stratocaster. With a budget of $ 1400 I thought of a fender supersonic 60W, a 65 twin reverb or a reissue bassman 59. It is impossible for me to try the amp before buying it, so I have a chance and buy it without hearing it before. Which of these three amps do you recommend? or what other option for the sound I seek you recommend? Thanks, and sorry for my english

  • WOW!!! sounds like my squier frontman solid state amp:(

  • @Frontierblues I think that you should try it in real life.

I did and it sounded epic to me.

It's kinda hard to judge based on a video.

  • This amp sounds a lot better when you push it some.

  • @fyrcrack this sounds good with a MXR distortion+ and MXR 10 band equalizer pedal, You get Randy Rhoads tone but even better than his tone

  • His playing is just fine

  • God I don't think he's THAT bad...he's progressions and riffs are fairly repetitive but he's no where in the same ball park as the dude who SHOWS you the instructions of every single stomp box ever reviewed ..god damn painful.

  • FYI to all people watchin this video, the microphone is in about the worst place to do a demo of an amp... this amp sounds much more bad ass than this recording lets you hear... not knocking this dude's playing, just knocking the recording technique... i play through one of these monsters everytime i go to my local music store, look up Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Lee Hooker, and Stevie Ray Vaughn to get a better idea of what this amp CAN sound like

  • I don't know what the problem is but this demo does not do this amp justice.

  • Bassman 59 reissue is actually really good sounding amp. Some vids don't show it though.....

  • This sounds like a small practice amp...power tubes? Wheres the power than?

You give this amp a bad rap doing this

  • bunch of tards here. Give the guy a break, he is a good player. He is a bit mechanical, sure, but he's doing a demo not playing a gig. He has a boss, who probably told him to play some short blues licks and get the video over with so that he can move onto the next one. If you were told to play all day, cover certain settings on the amp, and make it quick, you all would bust out with plenty of tepid crap. If this were a video of a gig your criticism might be warranted. But it's not.

  • @cminor9

People do rank on this guy at ton, but why does he play the same lead lines over and over. He needs to play some strummed chords and/or some actual song riffs. I don't know what the amps sound like in actual practice because I don't just play single notes blues pentatonic leads all day every day. Play some freaking songs or something that remotely resembles a song!

  • @cminor9 You're so right. I found this review to be excellent. People who don't like it should make their own reviews or shut up.

  • will it damage the amp in any way, if i use a 'seymour duncan pickup booster' to boost solo's etc. (a volume boost by up to 25 decibels).

please reply, i am in the dilemma of buying a second hand one in the next few days !

  • @adamhopeless

no, unless perhaps you cranked the amp and maxed the gain boost so that the speakers could not handle the volume no more

  • thats the sound of one of the speakers!

  • @yceboy Be quiet.

  • can anyone tell me what the knob next to the on/off switch is? i have no idea

  • @SiKxBlAzEr i have this same amp. next to the on/off switch its a standby/on switch. When i turn the amp on first i turn the on/off switch to the on position and let the tubes warm up. When im ready to play i'll switch the standby/on switch into the on position....cheers

  • @chevelle7873 i appreciate the help but im talking about a small knob next to the switch it looks like it has numbers engraved in the face of the amp, i dont even know if it does anything i havent heard anyone talk about it

  • What a terrible representation of a really good sounding amp . Don't let this shit demo put you off from actually trying one out .

  • Do you have to change valves in a tube amp?

  • I HATE THIS GUY !!!!!

  • i think the sound is beautiful.

to bad its 1.5 times bigger then my wallet for amps.

  • It's a good guitar i use it by myself, but i think you should use a Custom Shop RI or another vintage style guitar.

The Deluxe is a really kind of modern guitar and i think it can't really show what the amp can sound like to the people who want to buy this amp.

Oh btw. try to place the mic at the right point;)

It's much too muddy in my opinion!

  • i just hate the way he says CHANNEL

  • i prefer the deluxe reverb 65

  • Sorry, no offense dude.

  • Wow, youre really good, but... admit it, if it wasn't for guitar, youd still be a virgin.

  • Love this amp. nice playing Jason.

  • anyone know of a demo of this amp with a bass????

  • Yes they do. Listen at 5:54 when he forgot to kill the highs briefly. Sounds beautiful.

  • @dnpqkc Haha you're right. At first it sounds bright, full, and warm, then quickly goes to muddy, dull shit.

  • Stop turning the tone knob down every time you turn on the bridge pickup. You don't have to always find a way to roll off the highs. I get so sick and tired of people doing demos like this. You can't hear what the amp sounds like the way 90% of all rock tones are recorded. BRIDGE PICKUP WITH THE TONE KNOB ON 10. Turn on the radio and you'll be hard-pressed to find that muddy tone.

  • @dnpqkc Strats don't have a bridge tone knob. They only have tone for the neck and middle pickups.

  • @TenFourMusicGroup depends on the strat...doesnt take a geneous to wire it differently

  • @TenFourMusicGroup It all depends on how they are wired, takes like 15 minutes to custom wire a strat. Mine came stock with a bridge tone and a neck tone.

  • the mic is too close to have some nice room about the tone. It sounds like there's too much compression also. Distorted sound is pretty much shit, I think. it's muddy en harsh.

  • to the guys who say that this tone sucks, I disagree, it sounds awesome. and the guy can clearly play well.

  • this is what your call a guitar geek. gotta play gigs to get the chicks.

  • REAL amp... sorry line 6 o_O

  • He sounds thirsty.

  • How does this guy get such a sterile tone with a USA strat and a Bassman ?!

  • Stop its not nice to pick on him so he acts abit retarded who doesnt?

  • Don't know why people knock this guy, he's a great blues player, and probably the only halfway decent player this site has

  • don't listen that guys. You do good job.

  • the sound of all your guitar reviews suck

  • who IS this guy

  • Ive bought mine in 1997..still have it

  • @74711 agree. much fashion people for here....

  • don't hold your breath man, we don't want you to suffocate while u're reviewing stuff

  • That amp is too much big for him

  • Jason Spencer is an excellent reviewer. I don't understand these commenters who don't appreciate his straight forward, informative, humble approach to demonstrating amplifiers.

  • proguitarshop demos rules, andy should teach to this guy

  • this is a great amp ... put a amp simulator in the front end and this thing cranks

  • As I write this I'm playing my tiny orange crush 15r, and it sounds exactly like this, this demo is awful.

  • This is a horrible demo, does not highlight the amp at all. His guitar sounds horrible on top of it all.

  • the last words were all i needed to hear

  • why is that plant in there?

  • dude what the fuck did you eat stop swallowing and burping!

  • Please help get The Swallowing Man banned from youtube. Seriously appauling demo.... Please go back to selling cell phones now!

  • Excellent !!!

  • It's hard to believe that Leo had Bass players in mind when he built this. I have actually played guitar through many bass amps, tube and solid state, and some hybrids, the speakers have a nice punch, especially the 15" drivers with the huge ceramic magnets. Low mids are a bit scooped for lead guitar use, but it makes a nice "airy" tone for rhythm guitar. This on the other hand, just sounds like a 4x10 guitar amp. Bassist hated it because it had no headroom with the output of bass pickups.

  • oh god this is unbearable. the way he keeps fiddling with the guitar knobs like that. this may be the shittiest demo on youtube.

  • Stop your complaining, I think he covered the Bassman demo quite well. If he left them jumper blending out, then you's have a companint. But he did show it. This is one of the best amps for the price you can buy. After all, it inspired Jim Marshall to start some amp company after his namesake. Maybe some of you heard of it?

  • No one disputes the beauty of this amp, it is wonderful, but this guy manages to pull the muddiest sounds out of any amp, guitar, pedal, etc. I used one of these to try my squier std tele at the recommendation of the store owner (he knew I have a JTM copy & a solid pine 4x10 as my recording rig, this was the closest) and it sounded way better than it does in this video. He really does make every piece of gear he demos sound like crap. His playing has no soul. It's just mechanical and dull.

  • @punkeratheart ouch.

    i guess everybody's a critic.

  • @logen99999 It's only the truth. He seems to have the too-many-lessons syndrome. He was a "prodigy", and his parents forced him to play guitar when all he wanted was to be a computer geek. He plays his guitar like it's a computer game. Every fretted note is like a key being pushed, every pick stroke is a mouse-click.

  • yet he works for a huge musical supply website. and what do you do?

it really irks me when musicians critic other musicians and say they have no soul. seriously, who are you to say that? are you BB King?

make a demo of yourself playing and post it on youtube. then we'll all judge your playing.

  • Yes, he works for a huge website, and what do I do? I work something called a job. I also play music, but not as a walking billboard for products or online stores, and not on youtube. My recording is done with an 8-track digital "workstation", not a computer, and if I ever have enough money to (in addition to supporting myself and my girlfriend and our cat, dogs, and rats, and my mother) buy a bunch of boutique gear, AND still have enough left over for a camera with good audio, then maybe ...

  • ......then maybe I will demo some of it on youtube, if I feel like it should be done. My "demos" are all in the form of recorded songs, and I will hapilly send you some MP3s if you want (I need an email address) and you can criticize me all you want. That whole "if you aren't spending all your time posting demos, you can't be critical of anyone else's" mentality is bullshit. Whether I'm a demo guy or not, this guy sucks. Of course that IS my opinion, but a strong one. And no, I'm not BB King.

  • And by the way, I didn't say HE has no soul, I watched this video and others of him, and stated that HIS PLAYING has no soul. Listen to it. And watch him, he looks like he just wants it to be over. The guitar is just a weight around his neck. It isn't lack of soul in HIM, then he would be a politician or a banker. But he just reluctantly goes through the motions of plucking notes with one hand, fretting them with the other, getting it over with. He doesn't enjoy this, why should I?

  • @six6wings Learn to speak English first, buddy.

  • Y the fuck would you get this guy to demo gear he is dreadful and so annoying!

  • Jesus God Almighty, another shitty demo from World Music Supply. If I were the Fender rep for them I'd be PISSED because they make all their amps sound like shit in all their demos.

  • why don't they give this job to a dude who looks like a guitar player

  • is it me or does he play the same 5 licks every video he does.?

  • This dude refuses to play loud...

  • he plays so quietly. he does not hit the strings with any force at all.. but he is not making the amp sound as good as it actually does

  • What a creamy warm tone...love it!!!!!!!!

  • I don't care about the dude. I think the amp sounds really good.

  • Uhh.. This guy need some water???

  • man this guys such a freakin' stiff!

  • @ultimatumjs

    eh

  • this moron is trying to figure out the amp as he's demoing it. looking at it with total bewilderment. horrible demo

  • y d hell r u so scared of cranking it up a lil?.. a lion wont jump out of the amp if u crank it up more.. u guys could use a livelier guitarist to review ur products man, half the time u cant make out all it features cos this guy is scared of them

  • Crank it up, crank it down, tweak & turn the controls anyway you want to, I'd like to hear that amp & that ax in all kind of settings, and you don't need to tell me how it's set, I'll figure it out if I like what I hear and decide to buy it!

Hey, I'm not going to critique this guys playing, that's not the issue and I don't

need SRV playing just to hear what the amp can do.

Some of the commenters need to back off!

  • what does harmonic means?

  • the overtones that every note has. He's saying that the high overtones are more prevelant on the Bright channel. If you pluck an open E, then play a natural harmonic on the 12th fret you'll hear two audible overtones: the overtone from the 12th fret, and the one from the 5th, and depending on how well your guitar is made you might even hear one from about fret 2 1/2. Every note has an infinite number of overtones, but most are inaudible. Those tones all played when you were hitting open E.

  • great sound.. this and marshall jtm (early version) are my favorites. no wonder they are almost identical in design

  • its a 5ar4 rectifier not 5ur4

  • The worst review ever made!!! This amp doesn't sound nice presented in this way....on my opinion.

Why not to choose a good guitarist for this? I can't fogure it out....

  • He's good enough.

  • come on, when my deluxe is cranked - it's cranked. played through this bassman - sounds so much better than in this video...

  • Could they seriously find no one else in the whole studio? Very unfortunate representation of such a revered classic..

  • cranked! Sounds like a wet fart.

  • wtf open up those tone knobs on the guitar

  • no way is that cranked

  • is this point to point wiring?

  • It's not. I have had mine for six years and I don't ever have problems with it. And in my opinion, it sounds a lot like a vintage Bassman.

This guy isn't running it right, though. It sounds much better and more rockin' than this in real life.

  • no sadly PCB

  • that's the sound I love

  • IMO not a good demo. PLAY IT LOUD, FOR GOD SAKE!!!!!

  • The volume was at 2 o clock. that will easily shake your windows. he just had his guitars volume down to keep it clean.

  • If that, 2 o clock, shakes your windows, I suggest you replace your windows.

I have a Bassman '59 LTD, I'm plugged into the bright channel- volume at 11, bridged with the normal channel- volume at 3,5. Haven't blown out any windows yet, and it sounds amazing. Cleans up well with the use of the guitarvolume.

What I mean is, if you're going to demo the amp that Jim Marshall based all his work on, you might as well show people why. It picks up at the end of the demo, but by then....yawn!

  • I'm getting the FBM-1 for boss effect pedal it simulate the bass man sound. You know it sound just like it and it's a lot cheaper.

  • In another universe maybe... There is something to be learned about tubes and how they work.

  • "You know it sound just like it..." LOL! Yeah, right!

  • why do you swallow som much man?

  • i cant really figure out how you can make sound a bassman so bad :S

  • Oh no, the Swallowing Man !!!

  • @covflo I know... that really gets to me!!

  • @covflo haha i noticed that too haha thats funny

  • I actually wanted one of these amps until i saw this..

  • this guy dosent know anything on this bassman ur right he's still stuck in th 90's

  • For country, you should get

    1. Fender telecaster or stratocaster (your choice)

    2. Fender 63 spring reverb

    3. Fender 59 bassman

  • no one drove a Bassman like Hendrix....this guy just kinda sucks at driving it. he's too damn timid. hes like hiding behind it....DIME IT YOU WIMP!!!

  • ROFLOL!!!

  • God dammit this guy makes this amp sound like shit

  • does sound like a strat, sounds more like a gibson

  • Why would you say: "2 o'clock" if they're are numbers on the dials. You usually use "o'clock" for pedals, because there are no numbers...

  • sounds thin and cheesey

  • has this guy been stuck in the 90's? just look at him

  • yeah

he dresses like george from seinfeld

  • i never saw seinfield, is it any good?

  • one word....hilarious

  • thats 3;) i'll check it out sometime

  • @guitarshredda2 one word....crap

  • LOL, I hope that Seinfeld question was a joke.

    Seinfeld is quite emazing.

  • @tomleech92 IT IS THE BEST SITCOM!
