I think i was one of the luckiest persons in the world finding a cartridge only for like 100 euros. Again i live in holland, so it has never been released here. I'm not really sure, I really don't quite understand copyright stuff too much, but if you look up how Mother 2 and earthbound were different you'd see all kinds of stuff they actually changed from the original Japanese to America, like on hospitals, the Red cross stands for like medical help and such, in Mother 2, the hospitals and other places had the red cross, but they couldn't do that here in America, so almost every red cross was removed, due to copyright, there's a lot of others stuff too.

Earthbound being better than Final Fantasy I agree on 1000%. But the part I have a problem is "I will never play Final Fantasy because it is overrated." That's just stupid. The copyright thing was just more bullshit so Nintendo doesn't have to localize it. It may be true, but they could easily edit out the offending material. They've always censored and edited games to death anyways. It won't be any problem.
If you Really want to play Earthbound (Legitimately, of course,) then you're going to have to find it on the SNES (Which could cost a pretty penny) or just Import Mother 2 from Japan. The latter means you have to atleast require a vague understanding of Japanese, but its well worth it.

Seriously. I used to be a big Nintendo fan until I realized how little we get over in the USA. I want to learn Japanese just to get all the japanese exclusives.
Although, there are translation patches Mother 1 + 2 (Earthbound 0 and 1) and Mother 3 (Earthbound 2) on the internet. I play all three games on my original Xbox. Anybody need some help on this, send me a message.

Your right. And we need the demo more than the Japanese because Mother is VERY popular in Japan whereas here its not known very well.
If they didn't cut out the EarthBound demo in the NTSC and PAL versions, ALOT of people would know where Ness came from and who he is. And make EarthBound alot more well known.

Even though the first five minutes of EarthBound are really boring (I'm a huge fan of the series and even I can admit that), there was still no reason for NoA to take it out. They probably just did that to be douchebags towards the EarthBound fans outside of Japan, seeing as how NoA hates us :(

Well... the masterpieces showed games, you can download from the virtual cosole.
Since Mother 2, aka Earthbound, wasn't on the american and european VC it was simply removed.
Or at least it's what Nintendo wants us to believe. :/
I mean, I really hope, that this games will find its way to the VC in america. Chances are, that it will come soon after to europe as well.

The copyright thing was just more bullshit so Nintendo doesn't have to localize it. It may be true, but they could easily edit out the offending material. They've always censored and edited games to death anyways. It won't be any problem.

If you Really want to play Earthbound (Legitimately, of course,) then you're going to have to find it on the SNES (Which could cost a pretty penny) or just Import Mother 2 from Japan. The latter means you have to atleast require a vague understanding of Japanese, but its well worth it.

Unfortunately, in america people tend to think that good graphics = good game. Therefore, American sales of EB were low. This sent Reggie Fils-amine to believe that EB would do no good for America, and left us all unhappy.

That's really messed up! I thought something was fishy when there was no Earthbound demo. Exactly what the hell is Nintendo trying to tell us anyway? They allowed Lucas and many spoilers about Mother 3 reach the general public, and that was japanese only! But Earthbound got diddly squat except for Onett ( Why they left out foarside, I'll never know! )

It's because they can't have two Melee stages coming from the same game. I know that there are about 3 different Mario games, but apparently Yoshi and DK games are soooooooooooooo different from Mario games, so let's just forget the fact that they're FUCKING MARIO CHARACTERS (I really hate it when Nintendo favors a game that's gotten extreamely stale and is getting pretty damn boring every new game and that's the definition of Mario)!!! Sorry, I kind of lost it. Damn Nintendo...

The Yoshi one I can't get over. He's always been in the Mario games. and so what, he got 3 games of his own? 4 if you count Yoshi Cookie, but that had mario in it too.
As fir DK, I only consider him different on the grounds that Rare made his games cool and unique, but I guess with them gone, Nintendo can't do shit with the ape no more except stick him in some fucking spin off party/sports/racing game, huh? >_>

True, but I'm only counting the games that had no mario references at all. Nintendo supported the idea for DK's own games, but it was Rare who went to work on it. Much like it was Rare who worked on the starfox games.

My friend also hate RPG's in general (because he tried EarthBound :( ). He only likes Super Mario RPG, because its "Timed Hit" system is fun. Although it is, most RPG's (like MOTHER 3, which he refuses to try because "it'll be gay") have timed hit systems. Its only because Frickin Super Mario's in it.
