anyone having problems make sure the hardware/software was writen for 32bit/64bit systems and if there are drivers for your 32/64bit system not everyone is writing the program code for the 64bit systems so that may be why some are having problems hope it helps

I bought a PCI firewire card yesterday i connected it, went to devicemanagement updated found the ports there, but it aint working ive tryed the camera on my laptop before i didnt need to install any drivers or anything then. Im using Windows 7 64 - Bit (maybe thats the problem but in case do anyone know of a workaround or something?) any kind of response would be appreciated

for many video cameras its the only way to connect it to the pc and its much faster than usb

i am looking for a software to install 1394 firewire card... i cant find the link... see the thing is i bought by 1394 ilink card with a firewire cord and a cd (installation).... so i can connected my sony camera to my computer thru this firewire to driver to my comp ... but i lost the "ilink" driver instalation cd... i searched on the net for this instalation software... but i cant find it... i can give you more info on this card...

usually you have to buy the firewire card apart when you buy the pc. so its not going to be in your pc (unless you've told the agent to put it in..)

my computer isn't reading my camera after installing the firewire card. what's the problem?

I had this problem before, the problem was that there was another card (like the one you inserted) was intefiering with the firewire. I had to pull off the firewire and put in a different slot, maybe 2 slots down. It worked for me. Tell me if it worked or not!

when you say that another card was in the way, do you mean a card that was being used, or a card that was just sitting there not being used. im going to install firewire into my computer and i have two cards,one on the way bottom and one second to the top. and because of the positioning to those two cards, no matter where i put the firewire card, it will be next to one those cards. one more thing about the cards, they are being used. well, anyway, great video (it REALLY HELPED) and nice song.

yes if the other card is being used, it MAY interfiere... it doesnt mean everyone's will intefiere, my pc teacher at school told me about this case, so i tried it and then the firewire worked well..

Yea I used to call my technician to come but he always tells me tomorrow I'll come and tomorrow never comes for him, and then I asked my IT teacher at school if I could make it, and he told me how, and I was like "anyone could do that!" It was the first time I opened a tower, but luckily it turned out good :)

just adding that when you are doing any work on your computer make sure that you are grounded there are cheap bands that you can wear that cost around 5$ but they keep you from shocking your comp and lets you use 2 hands

this is a firewire, it's used to connect your camcorder to it, maybe you should check orange box websites and stuff to see which card you should buy.

Yes it does work on all computers, and no, the card doesnt have to connect to anything, but some cards may have a cable or something, for that theres another video on youtube (not my vid)
