My dog Robin has heart disease too and has been on Enalapril for a year, which has helped. Her coughing has gotten worse lately so she'll need new meds. She's also not eating well and it would take me a whole day to get her to eat. Usually by 6pm she is starving, but won't really eat until I syringe feed her a little bit of yucky hi-cal food and then she'll eat her normal food.
I understand how hard it is to take care of an ill, senior dog.

Hint:On your calendar make marks daily about how Lucky seems to be doing. Arrow up for good days, arrow sideways for maintaining, arrow down for bad days. When the down arrows are more plentiful than the others, its time to give Lucky a humane goodbye. What makes people respond? i think its the love for animals and perhaps because its easy to do, and that they have a kind heart.

I hope Lucky gets better :)! I have a dog, her name is Snuff and she is a black Staffordshire bull terrier. She is 10 and is having some problems with the joints in her hind legs but she is doing pretty well. She is taking tablets for it. I wish Lucky the best of luck:).

Hi'ya, we have just gone through a pet episode that ended in its death so we know what you are going through and it is not pleasent. Pets are family and should be treated with respect to make their lives as good as possible and, no matter what happens, as long as you have made their life worth living, then you should be proud of yourself.

I hope Lucky is well.
My dog Robin has heart disease too and has been on Enalapril for a year, which has helped. Her coughing has gotten worse lately so she'll need new meds. She's also not eating well and it would take me a whole day to get her to eat. Usually by 6pm she is starving, but won't really eat until I syringe feed her a little bit of yucky hi-cal food and then she'll eat her normal food.
I understand how hard it is to take care of an ill, senior dog.

My love to you guys. I love and have animals (my children) so I know how you feel. I am in tears as I look at this because I know what it is like to lose a pet you love so much. I had a hard life growing up and having my dogs was my comfort and salvation. People abuse people, animals don't. Please give lucky a big hug for me.

Hint:On your calendar make marks daily about how Lucky seems to be doing. Arrow up for good days, arrow sideways for maintaining, arrow down for bad days. When the down arrows are more plentiful than the others, its time to give Lucky a humane goodbye. Its awfully hard to know when an animal is suffering, but this is as good an any indicator you will have. God bless you both. Seems Lucky has had a good life with you.

but maybe if you could start feeding her organic dogfood she might get in better condition
read about it in a mag. spose to make your pet live a good good bit longer some cases up to 20 to 30
but becus lucky is 12 and heart diseased it might only help a little to none

Lucky is absolutely adorable and it is clear to see what a wonderful pet owner you are. I'm glad to hear you have some answers about her condition and that she is being medically managed in a way that she is becoming more comfortable. Hi Jill, don´t be sad...ok...unfortunately it happens with a 12 years old dog...my Billy has a heart desease too and he has 12 years too...what a coincidence...but as you sad hug your pet as you can, because we can´t do anything about the desease. We can only give much affection. Besides Lucky will feel your sadness and it won´t be good for her. OK. The best we can do is give them happiness and affection all the time. Love & Peace Blue Eyes.

with all due respect, isn t it a bit strange that we in the american society are so attached to animals...we go as far as getting them insurance, good quality food, shelter, love and nurture, but yet hardly do we feel the same compassion towards children starving and bombs fed to them...kind of ironic...
i love animals too but when do we have the same mercy and urgency for HUMANS!

Ya my old dog was nambed Lucky 2. She died abut 2 months ago. I can't belive she is gone! She was such a cute dog. UNfortunetly she had a cesar right infront of us and died. It was the saddest thing I have ever witnessed. I hope evrything turns out for u and your dog.
